Digital Dive: Login... Skye saw the login in screen directly after putting the head module on. She'd got an invitation along with 15 others to test a new game. She hadn't heard too much about it other than it was supposedly the next best thing. It apparently could tap into your cerebral cortex and allow you to feel everything that was going on in game. It also would map you body into the game. She spoke her username and password causing the screen to blackout and small cups attach to her head. She blacked out momentarily and awoke on a digital plane. "Well this must be the game. I guess I'm the first one," she said as she checked herself to make sure she wasn't hurt. She noticed a small wristband that counted down from a set time. It seemed like it was a 7 day countdown. She looked around. The area was barren except for several terminals scattered here and there. 15 terminals to be exact. She noticed eight small rifts surrounding this area. She assumed those were probably other areas. She found a small PDA next to her. She picked it up and turned it on. Message recieved! Opening the message she nearly dropped the PDA. The message read: Welcome to Digital Dive. Sucker. You are now trapped within this game until you either finish it before the clock runs down. Or your deleted. And don't bother trying to logout. It will cause immediate deletion. Have a wonderful day you simpleton. It wasn't the best message in the world. Whoever it was wasn't a friend. This would be bad. She wasn't quite sure how she was going to survive but she would try. On the PDA she saw a small name in the top right corner. Zeus. She wasn't sure what it meant but she'd find out soon enough. And so it begins. |

Fear the cold...

(Yes, finally!) Neo walked into the room. The game system had already been hooked up, and a note had been left showing him how to send himself into the game. Good old Mike, Neo thought, taking in the events from the last few days. An unknown hacker had been wreaking havoc with public electronic systems; Neo, Rose, and Mike had only taken the job because it was the only one available at the time. Anyway, the only way to make contact with the hacker was to enter his domain through a certain video-game. It was supposed to be located at the end of the game. After a few tries, Neo finally managed to prepare everything. His heart racing, he spoke his username and password into the microphone to activate the account he created earlier. After a few seconds of blissful silence, everything went blank. Neo opened his eyes, finding himself in an unsettling space. He examined the area, scanning plains that surrounded him. In his pocket, a small beep could be heard. That's strange, Neo thought. Is it part of the game? Picking up the PDA, he answered the message. Welcome to Digital Dive. Sucker. You are now trapped within this game until you either finish it before the clock runs down. Or your deleted. And don't bother trying to logout. It will cause immediate deletion. Have a wonderful day you simpleton. Of course. Neo thought. Another trap. I NEVER would have seen this coming. |

"here goes nothing." Aaron Kunai stepped into the "gate" leading into the digital plane, a round tube with wires hanging out the top. He spoke his username and typed his password, while his sword and guitar were in another tube. Suddenly he felt his body changing into digital form. the conversion was complete, and a bright white light obscured his body and his sword and guitar, then they disappeared. Aaron finally awoke after a while, finding himself now inside the digital plane. The first thing he noticed was that he had on a strange wrist watch of some sort, with blinking lights on it, 10 of them to be exact. He also noticed a PDA, lying with his sword and guitar. He picked it up, and suddenly, it activated automatically!!!! New message received!!!! Hello, and welcome to the digital plane. We hope that you have enjoyed your life before you entered here, as now you will be tested to the greatest of limits. You will have until a set amount of time to find the exit out of this game. if you don't, you will face deletion, from this world and yours. and don't even try to logout. we have blocked your commands until one of the above occurs. Have a nice day....if you can. Aaron was now worried. that did NOT sound very user-friendly. and if this was true, then he'd better get a move on and find the exit. He put the PDA in his pocket, straped his sword to his back, and also strapped the guitar onto him, and put that on his back as well. then, he started the long journey. he large bear, Jojo or better known as Xavier had been there for awhile actually and already retrieved his PDA and drill bit. He read that god forsaken message which made him want log out but that warning kept him from even attempting it. He now had a goal in his head throughout this 'game'. "Find the gamemaster and show him what happens when people cross him." Xavier looked around his new surroundings, taking in the odd scenery and notice he still had a few of the things he brought with him today. He also notice the portals nearby. "Hmph...Why did I bring this junk?" He said as he looked over his things and sifted through his pockets for something useful before he noticed a human female near by. Was she another poor sap stuck here? Or just the welcoming party? "Hmm...Definately not hostile...but..Well, Only one way to find out.." He cautiously walked up to her hoping she wouldn't mistake him for an enemy. He tried to look as non-threating as a bear could look as he approached the female. "Hey! Did you get the same message?" He asked waving his PDA a bit, noticing she had one too. Edited by Bang, Apr 21 2011, 10:19 PM.

Skye turned to see a large bear walking towards her. She readied her katana. "Yeah I got the message. What's it to you?" she said with a bit of a defensive tone. She wasn't quite sure what to think of this bear. The plain was hard under feet. Almost like metal. The air was relatively stale. If you would call it air. It almost seemed empty in a way. "Are you a friend or a foe?" she barked edging close to the bear blade at the ready. Team Zeus updating status A bright flash of light enveloped the area around her and disappeared a few seconds later. The PDA was lighting up with the words Zeus again but this time it had a small dropdown arrow. She clicked it and she noticed that it had her username as well as another username: Team Zeus: (5kye_N1twnd) (Jojo) "Who the hell is Jojo?" she said lowering her guard slightly. |

"What-" Neo had barely enough time to blink when a bright light surrounded him. It was brief, and barely anything had changed. Neo looked around, growing more and more confused by the second. If this was the work of a hacker, then that must be one heck of a hacker. Reaching for his PDA once more, he realized that something was different. Instead of just his name under the word Athena, there was now another name with his own. Not only that, but another boy appeared, seemingly out of nowhere. Maybe he has something to do with this, he reasoned, and walked towards the boy with a suspicious look on his face. |

"R-right...I'm just stuck here like you..." He said as he slowly moved closer and closer to her. He kept his eyes on that weapon of hers, he wasn't very fond of losing all of his limbs. He covered his eyes slightly at the bright flash of light. Oh god..what now? He said quietly in his head as he waited for the flash to die down. Team Zeus: (Jojo) (5kye_N1twnd) "That would be me...So you must be Skye?" Xavier said as he looked over the woman. "Guess this means we're parnters..." He put his PDA away and turned his back to her to look over the area for more people. |

"God damn it, June, why did I agree to do this for you..." Okay, so there was some sort of closed beta test for a video game going on. June had been invited to said test - but he was going to be busy for a while, so he asked for Mineto to go for it. He said it was "of the utmost importance" for someone to go in his place. Then he wouldn't stop bugging Mineto. Mineto had to stop him somehow, so he reluctantly agreed to participate in the test. The purple-haired youth continued muttering to himself as he checked over everything one more time to make sure he wasn't going to kill himself after doing whatever. "Damned American... why do I have to do this... I never volunteered..." Finally, he put his headset--or whatever that stupid American-looking BS was--on and prepared to play the game. He blacked out for a moment, then found himself in some weird place. "Hooooly shit." A PDA beeped at him. Oh my God that's annoying. He took it out, then studied the message on it. Welcome to Digital Dive... sucker. You are now trapped within this game until you either finish it before the clock runs down... or get deleted. And don't bother trying to logout. It will cause immediate deletion. Have a wonderful day, you simpleton. Mineto arched an eyebrow. Whoever wrote that must have been in love with himself. Pushing the thoughts aside, Mineto immediately began searching through the little computer for any helpful information... and found nothing useful except for what seemed to be his team's name--Hermes. Messenger of the gods, guide to the Underworld, patron of boundaries, the travelers who cross them, shepherds, cunning, wit, poets, literature, athletics, sports, commerce... and all that other stuff. Are the teams preset...? Mineto spaced out for a little while, trying to sort out this new information while waiting for his teammates--or future teammates, if they weren't preset--to show up. After all, he wasn't about to bother anyone. |

"Easy money, no problem" That was what Carl had on his head as he was going to test this new game. He had receive an invitation and like in all jobs there was a reward for helping try the game. After he got to the room he saw a big screen. He introduced his Usename and Password. After that everything went blank. He woke up after a while in a different place. "So this is the game?" He said to himself. He noticed a small PDA near him. He pick it up and it had a message. Welcome to Digital Dive... sucker. You are now trapped within this game until you either finish it before the clock runs down... or get deleted. And don't bother trying to logout. It will cause immediate deletion. Have a wonderful day, sucker. Carl look at the message for a while. He check if he had everything with him. He grab the PDA and trow it to the air. He grab his gun and shoot once. The bullet pass near the PDA without hitting it. Carl grab the PDA. In it there something new. The word "Zeus". "So I'm in a game fighting someone who probably controls this place. I hope that theres a good reward in the end." He look around and he saw a bunch of people, maybe other players. He decided to go near them to see what was happening. |

Login (AshenProphet) complete. Ashton smirked. Sure, he didn't game much, but this beta looked to be pretty fun-- wait, what was this? Please install the special interface provided with Digital Dive before continuing. Dammit. And here I was hoping that getup was optional. He fumed before quickly untangling the mess of wires he'd set on the desk. Looked like some kind of helmet and a set of bands for his limbs. He connected the setup to the computer, waited for the drivers to install... The machine dinged when it finished. Putting on the bands, then the oversized helmet, he settled into his seat when an intense pressure on his head made him lose consciousness. Calibrating... System integration complete. Ashton, having come to, in-game, stared slack-jawed at the PDA that had appeared not far from where he had lay. Or, more accurately, stared at the message. Welcome to Digital Dive. Sucker. You are now trapped within this game until you either finish it before the clock runs down. Or your deleted. And don't bother trying to logout. It will cause immediate deletion. Have a wonderful day you simpleton. "Son of a..." Ashton stopped himself. Screaming at the machine wasn't gonna do anything. Dismissing the message, he noticed his chosen username under the word "Hera." He slumped. He hoped this wasn't some kind of puzzle. |

STEP BACK, ANTI-SPIRAL!
|
Login. There was a generic login screen. This was off to a bad start. He wished someone would make a game that didn't start like every other game. Maybe they could put the login information off to the side instead of the center. Maybe they could make a puzzle game where the password goes in the username field and the username goes in the password. They could even just make it a game where you enter the username, which opens up a password window, instead of them being in the same place. Oh well. *bleep*Welcome Cowbell landed face first inside the game. He wasn't sure why technology hated him, but the feeling was definitely mutual. The only reason he used anything electronic was so that he could analyze it to see if it was worth dissecting. This game contained technology that he thought would be fun to mess around with, so he had decided to brave the wide world of computation machines. Near him, a small object made the sound again. *Bleep*. He weighed the pros and cons of picking it up, considering that if he did, it could be even more annoying than the sound it made at first. *Bleep*. That wasn't likely, though. Picking it up, he began to read the message. Welcome to Digital Dive. The first sentence was all he needed to hear. If there was one thing he had learned, it was that introductions were always pointless. There was nothing others could tell him that he could not figure out himself without a block of meaningless text. So, he clenched his fist around the device, causing it to cave in slightly and let out a pop and a hiss as it ceased to function. So, his first job was to escape noob island. Tightening the straps on his gauntlets, he sat down and sighed. Escape. Right. Where was the log off button, again? |

Ashton's PDA chirped as a newcomer fell and landed nearby ungracefully. He checked it, and under the "Hera" heading was a new name: "C0wb3ll." So that was this display's purpose; a player roster, possibly divided into teams? Experimenting allowed him to see the other teams thus far, and tapping one's username brought up a screen similar to making a text message on his cellphone. He hammered out a message to the newcomer, just to see how it worked. Okay. I'm just trying things out here. But if you're who I think you are, I should be standing a few yards behind you. Just wave your hand or something if you get this. Ashton hit send, and the message signed itself with his username. |

Two days earlier... "I'll be doing what?" The annoyed voice of the reploid cut across the room as he stared towards a pile made up of random bits of junk, looking as if he was trying to stare a hole through it. "Honestly, Rei, do I have to repeat everything with you?" a voice replied from behind the pile, the top of a someone's head poking up slightly. "You'll be participating in a game test. Apparently it's the next big thing." the boy explained without going into too much detail. "Oh, I got that part. I just don't get why I'm the one doing it." Rei said in a low tone as his eyes narrowed, clearly not too happy about being roped into something else he didn't want to do by his master. "Well, as much as I would like to test it out myself, I'm kind of busy when it's happening. So I opted to send you in my place instead. You're the most reliable person I know and to be honest I think you could stand have some fun. You're always so grumpy, y'know?" As he explained the boy stood up, stepping around various piles as he made his way towards the desk Rei was standing by. "Ugh... fine. Is there anything I have to do other than turn up?" the reploid inquired with a sigh as he crossed his arms. "Not really. They needed you to register a username and password but I already took care of that for you. They're on this piece of paper; take the time to memorize them." As he said this the boy picked up the paper he had refered to, holding it out for Rei to take. Uncrossing his arms, Rei plucked the paper from his master's hand, inspecting it for a little while before raising an eyebrow. "MaverickHunterREI?" "Yeah. Cool right? Now, just reme-" "No seriously, MaverickHunterREI? Where the hell do you pull this crap from? Couldn't give me something simple like say... my name?" the username that was selected for him was apparently not to his taste. "Well, I could have but that doesn't sound very cool. So I added the 'Maverick Hunter' bit from the Mega Man X games. It was that or Rei.EXE. Besides, your name is there. It's right at the end, see?" the boy said with a grin as he laughed to himself a little. The reploid did not seem find it nearly as funny as he did. "Right... whatever. So this is in a few days right? I guess I'll be there. I really wish you would stop doing this to me though." Rei stated, mumbling towards the end of his sentence as he turned around and headed out the door; most likely to blow off some steam after being thrust into another stupid situation. ----------- "Alright. I'm in this thing so I guess I have to state my username and password now." Rei thought as he looked around the small capsule-like device he was seated in. There were a few odd peripherals in place and a screen was in front of him displaying empty 'username' and 'password' fields without giving a physical way to input it. But apart from that there wasn't much else to look at. "Right... Username: 'MaverickHunterREI'. Password: 'R, hyphen, B-U-S-T-E-R'." As the reploid spoke these words the appropriate fields were filled; the words he had spoken appearing in the boxes. A short while later a message appeared. Login (MaverickHunterREI) complete. Please install the special interface provided with Digital Dive before continuing. "I guess it means this helmet thing and the armbands. Seriously, what is it with people and helmets?" the reploid thought to himself as he got to work plugging what he assumed would be the game's controller in. After a few moments there was a noise akin to a 'ding' as the screen noted that the gear was ready to use. "About time. Let's see what's so important about this damn game..." Placing the helmet on his head and the bands on his arms, Rei made himself comfortable. Within a mere matter of seconds he found himself blacking out, slipping into unconsiousness... The reploid groaned slightly as he came to, opening his eyes and turning his head slowly to find his vision being roughtly level with the floor. For whatever reason he had been face-down on the ground when the transfer was complete, unaware of exactly how long he had been like this. Before he could really do anything he heard some sort of beeping noise; a quick scan of the area revealing to be a small PDA resting not far from where his right hand lay. Pushing himself up, Rei rose to his knees before grabbing the device, standing up shortly afterwards as he looked towards the screen and tapped it in order to stop the beeping. Shortly afterwards a message popped up. Welcome to Digital Dive... sucker. You are now trapped within this game until you either finish it before the clock runs down... or get deleted. And don't bother trying to logout. It will cause immediate deletion. Have a wonderful day, you simpleton. "... oh come on. Can't I go one week without that idiot getting me into some mess like this?" Rei uttered with an exasperated sigh, closing the message as he inspected the PDA's screen. There wasn't much else on there apart from a single heading - 'Hermes'. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?" the reploid thought aloud, however before he could think about it any more there was a bright flash on the screen, fading out soon afterwards. A dropdown menu appeared to be under the 'Hermes' header, Rei promptly tapping it to see what it was all about. -=Hermes=- (DaiMin) (MaverickHunterREI) He recognized the second name on the list; it was the username he had entered when he first got into the capsule. But who was this 'DaiMin' person? Looking around the area he noticed multiple people that had not drawn his attention before; some were talking amongst themselves while others, like him, were on their own. "Any one of these people could be 'DaiMin'... well I guess I'll have to ask each one until I find them... whoever they are." As he continued the scan the area, the closest person he could find to his position was a purple haired youth who appeared to be spacing out somewhat. With a sigh Rei started walking towards him, placing his PDA in his pocket. "Hey, you! The space cadet with the purple hair! Are you 'DaiMin'?" Rei called out to the stranger when he was a few mere paces away from him, coming to a stop in front of him as he awaited an answer. Although to be honest he wasn't entirely sure he heard him. [Gah. How do these things always end up so much longer than I think they will? I'm pretty sure future posts will be much shorter. |D;;;] |

People kept popping into the main area. Skye knew something was up when she had received the beta. She had pushed it the back of her mind though because it wouldn't allow her to enjoy herself. Now she wished she hadn't joined. But it was too late now. "Okay, So you must be Jojo then. Yes I am Skye. But don't get too much in my way. I won't tolerate it," she stated with a bit of an undertone. Well this is just perfect. I'm stuck here with this guy and probably some other idiots she thought. The PDA lit up again and under the team names it had a new guy. Lracarl. She looked around to see if she could see anyone that might have tha username. "I really hate waiting. I just want to get this over with," she growled, "Hey Jojo do you know anything about this place and what each rift is?" (Wow this is kicking off nicely. ^_^) |

The most important meal of the day
|
"Rael?" her mother spoke in her thick Estonian accent, "Child, where are you going?" Rael paused, her hand on the doorknob. "I told you already, Mother, to the beta testing." "I dont remember you asking to do that.." her father said contemptuously. "I dont remember being a child." Rael retorted. "That's strange, seeing as you were one just yesterday," her father growled. "Yeah that was yesterday.." Rael rolled her lavendar eyes. Her father grew livid. Her mother, slightly more understanding, stepped in front of her husband as he opened his mouth to chastize his daughter. As Rael was opening the front door, keys in hand, preparing to step out, her mother said, "When did you sign up for this?" Rael paused for a split second, "Yesterday" she smirked, then slammed the door behind her. That happened earlier that day. Now Rael had arrived at the location of the video game beta testing she had signed up for the previous day. Why had she signed up? No other reason other than she liked video games, and she wanted to. Rael pulled into the alley and parked, swung her leg over the side of her motorcycle and dismounted. Then she activated the alarm and walked into the building. Entering the line room the sign beckoned her to, Rael sat at the module, put the headset on her head, and followed the instructions to log in. "Shouldnt there be someone here?" before Rael could barely voice that inquiry, a bright light consumed her, before she was launched into darkness. ...................................... She came to what seemed like just a few moments later. She was no longer at the module, the same room or even the same building. She was also positive she wasnt even in the same world. Rael checked herself over. Same white jumper and brown motorcycle boots, same brown leather knapsack with the same stuff in it... The only thing different about her was the presence of a high-tech looking wristwatch with blinking lights on it. Rael was a smart cookie, and she knew those blinking lights signified something important...but what was it? Laying not too far from Rael was a rectangular small object. Rael picked it up. It was a PDA. It had a message notification icon blinking. "I dont know whose this is, but its mine now..." Rael muttered, but her words died away as she read the message. Furious at being deceived or otherwise toyed with, Rael threw down the PDA, looked up towards the sky and exclaimed "This is not a funny joke!" Rael calmed down quickly and looked around. Her fury was quickly dissipating, replaced by a frantic staccato beating in her heart. Before long she spotted someone not too far away. It was a human guy with purple hair. Rael picked her PDA up and approached him. |
