Developer: SEGA Japan
Publisher: SEGA (NA, EU), Nintendo (JP)

THE GAME

Gameplay: This new Mario & Sonic installment follows in the vein of its predecessors: Characters from both the Mario and Sonic game franchises compete in in the latest Olympic events. Uh... uhm...

I actually kind of like these Olympics games. They're fun. And putting Eggman and Bowser on a team is great.

... yeah.

That said, so much for that "Mario & Sonic 3 won't be sports related" statement we had last year. Ah well. Personally I'm looking foward to seeing how this one goes. The Winter Olympics was great so I'd imagine this one would be an over-all improvement too.

So long as Metal Sonic returns I'll be happy. |3

I'm just asking how different it could really be from the first Summer Olympic Games game.
Well considering Winter games has more to it than Summer games, I'm sure maybe they will look to the formula of the winter games game in doing this title?

I mean, I did like buying stuff for the chars(And buying music and such).

I don't see why everyone's gotta bitch and moan about the olympic games, no one is forcing you to play it. :P It's a fun little game too, and that's what games are at their core, right? Fun. Honestly I'm sick of these games too, but more so because people seem to think video games are like politics.

Anyway, why are people acting like another Olympic game is some kind of major crime or something? Here's an idea;

If you're not interested than don't play the damn game! The way you people are going at it, it's as if you're going to be shackled in a room and forced to play this thing. Sheesh.

Comments like this kinda irk me.. there's having conversation.. being overblown against something.. and then people who are like "well u don't gotta complain about it" the people complaining about the actual game are wondering how much different it COULD actually be (or not diff.. I should say) and others just simply haven't liked either predecessor..

Comments like this remind me of artists who take criticism as a form of flaming... if you say anything that they deem "bad" about their work you are flaming.. and anything bad would be comments that aren't like "OMFG THIS IS THE BEST ART EVER KEEP IT UP" essentially.

There are always two or more sides on any given issue for the most part (you can't debate whether we need air to breathe or whether or not people die.. those things are givens we all agree on... we also all agree that there is evil in the world, but everyone's perceptions and targets of what that evil is can be very mixed)..

In short all these "no one is forcing you to play it" comments are downright silly and there's no point to even making a statement like that.. it makes you look completely intolerant to those challenging your belief over something... even when you are defending (and they are attacking) an entity that has yet to materialize but has a fairly clear basis to be set upon it by the prior two releases... In a way.. comments like these sound EVEN MORE childish than completely intolerant attacks on the same matter.. it's the completely intolerant defense...

I say we speak for and against.. but no more of this "Eugh no one's gunna make you play it so don't whine and challenge my opinion plox."

Nuff said.

That's not what I'm saying; I'm not telling people not to complain; you can complain, but the way some people are going about it, it's as if they are being forced to play the game. Heck, if this was some kind of shooting game or something I'd be complaining, I fully admit it. I'm even kinda sad this is an Olympic game, since I had hoped the third Mario and Sonic game would be a fighting game. I fully admit that. :D

My point is, you can complain, but be careful how you go about it. xP

I was kinda hoping for that fighting game, but meh. Every Mario and Sonic game get's us closer to those truly awe-inspiring Mario and Sonic crossovers games we hope for. :D

I hope that considering this game will be like it's first, that they improve upon the original formula and add more content, like more dream events based off actual areas from both universes (like the Winter Games).

So wait, you're saying we should put up with people's over-dramatic complaining? There's nothing with their comments.

ANYWAY, not getting this. The olympic games never really interested me.

Drama from either side is really silly but those who deflect negative opinions with "you don't gotta play it" logic just kinda irritate me, because that is intolerance.. intolerance in most any regard really irks me.

I wouldn't call it intolerance - more like annoyance from over-dramatic complaining. xP

But really it's an annoying, over-dramatic, intolerant form of defense. =P

Perhaps I'm blind, but no one here was being unreasonably intolerant to the game.

Rule of thumb: If you are allowed to look forward to something based on no information, others are allowed to be pessimistic based on that same amount of information. To fight one's right to take a negative stance, especially with the age-old strawman, "You don't have to play it!", is to also denounce your ability to look forward to and defend the game of contention as well, because there's no objective difference between a positive or negative opinion without factual justification.

So either ignore opinions you don't like, debate them properly like moi, or deal with it. xP But saying people are being intolerant on the sole basis that they don't like something is, as Bowie said, intolerant as well.

Lookie what's been found:

It's being reported on by TSSZ and subsequently Go-Nintendo, so take it with the appropriate grain of salt, but here's your supposed-placeholder boxart for the third entry to the wildly popular Mario and Sonic series.

Let the moaning about mini-games/Mario and Sonic being together/the Wii begin. x3

EDIT: Image has been reuploaded courtesy of NeoGAF.
OMG FAIL! Not you, me. I was like "I thought we were going to Beijing in 2012?" That was in 2008 we had Beijing. I feel so stupid now.
