THE GAME

Gameplay: Sonic Generations aims to celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary by taking the player across three major eras of its history: MegaDrive, Dreamcast, and Modern; level locations will be taken from various games throughout this timeline, and different locations will be present on the console and handheld versions. Both Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic will be playable in the same stages, each with their familiar repertoires and attitudes. Specifically, Classic Sonic will play primarily on a 2D plane and be armed with the Spin Dash and Spin Attack; Modern Sonic will retain his Unleashed move set and play in stages that automatically switch between a 2D and 3D perspective and level of control. Characters such as Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow will also be making appearances. 1

The 3DS version will differ in a few key ways. First, all levels sans Green Hill will be different. 2-player competitive mode will also be available for status points, and the game will also feature Street Pass.

Watched it back yet? I swear, the quality is so much better than the version we saw on Facebook...

Amusingly, old Sonic doesn't look like he's come from the original games. He looks more like he came from AoSTH! I can't be the only one who thinks he looks nothing like the games, and more like the cartoon... :P

That 3D Classic model is amazing. Best one I've seen yet. Then again, the only comparison I have is Sonic Jam's model so it's no surprise it looks better. =P

But seriously, even with the nostalgia glasses off that model looks pretty sweet.

Funny thing, it seems this game is only for the Xbox 360 and PS3, with mentions of Xbox Live and PSN. Could it just be a downloadable game? Sonic Generations Episode One? I'd lol.

Also, I wonder if the Wii will get a toned down version like it did with Unleashed. The Nintendo audience isn't one I'd want to avoid, in terms of sales, if I was Sonic Team.

Is this vengeance for Sonic Colors being Nintendo-exclusive? XD

Well, I know I'll be getting this game when it comes out. Including classic Sonic was probably just catering to the fanboys(I refuse to mention any names), but it is pretty cool to see both the classic and modern designs. I'm thinking it's some sort of crossover type game. How that would work with the story, I have no idea, but it's just a thought.

I still can't use this.

Now that I'm sleepy and sober, this probably would've gotten more of a rise out of me if this hadn't been rumored for months, then subsequently confirmed a day or so ago. Classic Sonic is kyute tho', but I'm tired of nostalgia now. Nostalgia stops being nostalgic when it's constantly shoved in your face in the present day. Also, barren, half-coloured environment peaks my interest some. But overall--

I WANT GAMEPLAY.

I'll bet they have some stupid way of explaining why they're both in the game. :| Also the fat Sonic looked like crap, imo. No gameplay either, not even excited in the least.

It's already been proven than 3rd parties don't really do well on the Wii. Colors did alright, but it didn't exactly do wonders for Sega. '06 was only 360/PS3 so whatever. Colors was only Wii/DS so whatever.
