THE GAME

Gameplay: Sonic Generations aims to celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary by taking the player across three major eras of its history: MegaDrive, Dreamcast, and Modern; level locations will be taken from various games throughout this timeline, and different locations will be present on the console and handheld versions. Both Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic will be playable in the same stages, each with their familiar repertoires and attitudes. Specifically, Classic Sonic will play primarily on a 2D plane and be armed with the Spin Dash and Spin Attack; Modern Sonic will retain his Unleashed move set and play in stages that automatically switch between a 2D and 3D perspective and level of control. Characters such as Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow will also be making appearances. 1

The 3DS version will differ in a few key ways. First, all levels sans Green Hill will be different. 2-player competitive mode will also be available for status points, and the game will also feature Street Pass.

I've actually seen some fan rage about Classic Sonic getting a homing attack... I don't get why - it's optional after all and the major gameplay design doesn't really pull a Dimps and force you to use it for certain parts.

I don't either, but not spoiler tagging it may cause some people to rage. I know I did when it was so blatant as a TSSZ title and on the link picture on TSSZ. :3

That's why I didn't stick it in a spoiler tag. It's not really critical to any major plotline and TSSZ are throwing polls up about it on their frontpage. Probably looking to gauge any fan rage that comes out of these small little things. That apart, what skills does everyone use for their Sonic's? I've found the Triple Boost Bar to be really awesome for my modern Sonic.

I did that mission, then the 200% boost challenge. I'm pretty sure I equipped whatever I got from the 300% challenge, but it doesn't seem to be working... I might have forgot to actually equip that skill set though. XD

What's everyone's classic mix song? So far I'm loving Crisis City, and the original E3 Classic Escape from the City.

I like Modern Sky Sanctuary Modern Boost Mix... kinda difficult to have a prolonged listen to but I enjoyed it. And as I said earlier, I enjoyed City Escape mainly because I can karaoke it so well now. It's all good fun.

So Russian is getting a "Nostalgia Edition" of Generations for PC. All it is, though, is a copy of SG with Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic 3 & Knuckles as a free bonus thing, same as what NA people got if they pre ordered SG off Steam.

Japan is getting their own Special Edition of SG, complete with the History of the 1st Stage soundtrack, some special Sketch-hog inspired artwork right now dubbed Hand Sonic, and a special crystal cube.

I'll wait a while to buy the crystal cube. That thing looks kinda awesome. XD

Skills? Hm... lemme think...

The most used for each from memory were:

[Classic Sonic]
Double Spin Attack (Insta-Shield <3)
Elemental Shields (Lightning seems to get the most use out of the three)
Athleticism
Power Brake

[Modern Sonic]
Speed Up
Athleticism
Power Brake
Time Break

I haven't really fiddled with the skills properly yet to be honest. I kind of just muck around with them somtimes for fun. If I come up with any decent sets I'll be sure to let you know. |P

As for my favourite Classic remix... hm... I dunno. I like quite a few of them to be honest. D:

Top ones would probably be Speed Highway, City Escape and Rooftop Run. I quite like what they did with Planet Wisp too.

For Modern I would say Sky Sanctuary, Seaside Hill and Crisis City. Although there are plenty of awesome tracks in this game and I like them all to some degree. I would say the game has too much awesome music but I don't think there is such a thing. |P

I hafta wonder, what's the logic behind keeping the physical copy to Europe only? What's so special about it?

No idea. It'll probably cost more than just getting it from Steam or something anyway.

I guess some people just like a physical copy though. Heck, I probably would too if I was grabbing it on PC. *shrug*

It's a physical copy. Apparently manufacturing a disc and package is hard and special.

Still doesn't explain why Europe is the only country to get it. I know Sonic has an affinity for Europe but why does a physical retail copy of the PC version have to be confined to here? It'd probably sell better out in the US anyway. Well, it WOULD have. But everyone'll have bought the Xbox/PS3 version by now so it doesn't matter.

Not gonna keep people from not buying it. PC version is much more easily modded and changed and such. Some people are big on that.

What the heck? When does CSonic get a homing attack?

If you want a level from ShTH where Sonic was in it, Lethal Highway or Final Haunt would be perfect, particularly Final Haunt. Sonic sounded so happy and energetic in that level. XD Plus, it was a rather fun level by itself, IMO.

Egg Fleet was another level for Heroes I thought would be better than Seaside Hill.

Okay, just for fun, what DLC level would you guys like for...
Sonic 2006
Sonic Unleashed
Sonic 3D Blast (Genesis or Saturn, you're choice)
Sonic 3D Blast, definitely Rusty Ruin Zone Genesis(better music).
Sonic 2006, definitely Kingdom Valley.
Never played Unleashed other than the demo.

And this is why I was using spoiler tags, kids. Not everyone watches Sonic news -or TSSZ- like a hawk. Myself included. :I

Anyway, to answer your question, Metallix...
