The impotent, overcast sun had just begun to kiss the stadium roof, suspended over the screaming stands by impressively carved stone pillars. The day had not brought more snow, though a brisk wind had begun to sail across the arenas, bringing the promise of a cold evening and a frigid night. The braziers were blazing once more at the edges of the arena once more, melting the ice that had formed after the conclusion of the first match. The snow layer that not outright melted now covered a layer of mired peat and gravel. The Arenas had not been attended to; Auriel decided the peculiar conditions of the arena would add a psychological factor. They were still functional, to a degree, and it wouldn't until they were properly shattered by the combatant's conditions. And so it was that the heralds led the two combatants onto the field, the audience roaring in approval. Arena Nine was actually one of those few battleground that didn't recieve any notable damage or signs of combat. It was known that some matches ended without a struggle, and Arena Nine played host to one of these abrupt fights. "I hope I needn't repeat myself, gentlesirs," the herald said smoothly. "Please assume your places on either side of the arena and we'll begin." Without further ado, the herald began his introduction. "My lords, my ladies, welcome to the second match of the tournament! We have for you today two new combatants, one of which have proved their mettle and valor. In the hither corner, I give to you a man who has performed well this far, in spite of not securing a victory to his name. No doubt, he is seeking his first victory in the tournament. My lords and ladies, please welcome Ryou Kazaki!" "And in the thither corner, I give to you a man who would well seek to deny Ryou his first victory, and in so doing, secure a second victory for himself! My lords and ladies, please welcome Akashi the Tiger!" The audience cheered, and fanfare soared as the herald bowed to the crowd above him. Turning away, he called to the combatants, "Salute your opponent, then begin!" |

Sandopolis Act 2

Akashi walked into the arena, lead by the herald. He heard the crowd cheering in the stands. Once in the arena, the tiger felt the breeze against his fur, from the cold coming in. He gazed around the arena. It was different to the one he started in. He noticed that, there was less damage to this arena. Compared to the one, in his last fight. But there was a bit of damage, shown from the last fight. If they are just leaving the arena’s as they are, once a battle is finished. There could be some obstacles in future bouts. The tiger wandered over to, the side of the arena to begin. As the Herald asked. He looked around the arena again, to see what he could use, to his advantage. The herald introduced him along with is opponent. Akashi gazed across the area at his opponent known as Ryou Kazaki. He bowed to the iguana, and was ready to fight. Akashi moved away from his starting point, walking to the middle of the arena. He made haste towards Ryou. The feline grabbed the hand of his sword, in his holster. But once he got near his opponent. He changed his mind. The tiger turning his body round clockwise, kicking his right leg out as he spun round, with his heel aiming for iguana’s stomach. |

TIME TO REALLY EXPLODE!
|
[Because the intro post specifically uses the words "heralds", I'm assuming separate heralds will led both combatants out, without them seeing each other.] Ryou, having gotten over his loss (for the most part), stepped into the main lobby after cleaning himself, weapons and equipment in hand. It was nearly match time, but Ryou had enough time to stop at the cafeteria and eat a few pieces of fruit, which would hopefully provide him energy for the bout ahead. Sweet and delicious, the fruit provided Ryou with a nice boost in mood and determination. Leaving the cafeteria, Ryou once again returned to the main lobby, waiting for the herald to call him as well as his opponent. Ryou knew he would then have those precious few seconds to size up his opponent and make educated guesses about his, or her, fighting style. Ryou also assumed his opponent would do the same; frankly, he didn't know anyone who wouldn't. Much to Ryou's surprise, however, the herald approached Ryou alone and asked him to follow. Ryou frowned but nodded and followed, disappointed he could not have his pre-match analysis. Oh well... it appears I will I need to evaluate this Akashi on the battlefield alone... he thought, glancing at the other competitors as he was led to his arena. Soon enough, the two arrived at Arena Nine, and Ryou was ushered inside. Once inside, Ryou took a look around and sighed. "Always with the damn snow and crowd..." he muttered. Said damn crowd was certainly still there, cheering and being a distraction. Ryou's opinion of snow had certainly not changed from his prior match with Blader. Furthermore, this arena's snow looked virtually untouched. There were no helpful trenches this time around, and Ryou had not the energy waves to create them. It would take a whole new session of adaptation, especially since Ryou would be fighting a different opponent. As he walked to his side of the arena, Ryou noticed that the snow level was significantly lower than the last fight's, but the ground below was much muddier. Thankful that his shoes were waterproof and significantly large, Ryou knew that slipping was still an issue. But then again, he was light on his feet. Once he had arrived at the starting point, Ryou glanced across the arena and subsequently his opponent. Hmm... he appears to be a young tiger male. Sword in hand... so he's a melee fighter... though he could have a hidden ranged weapon on his person... Ryou raised his hand in the air as a salute, and before he could lower it down he noticed Akashi running right at him! Ryou took the opportunity to run as well, but to the side for one of the pillars. He saw Akashi get closer and knew he would be attempting a melee attack. Ryou stopped and turned around, drawing his rifle off of his back. He wasn't planning on firing it, however. He wanted Akashi to attack so he could dodge and continue running. And as he expected, Akashi approached with his hand on his sword's hit. Ryou tensed his lower leg muscles, ready to spring back out of the range of any katana-based attack. Once Akashi was close enough, i.e. within a few feet, Ryou jumped back as far as he could. He made sure to land as flatly on his feet as possible, to avoid slipping. Much to he surprise, though, Akashi switched to a kick at the last second. Odd... but a dodge is a dodge! I need to distract him more! A close range shot should do it! Ryou, in a fluid motion, pointed the barrel of his gun right at Akashi and quickly raised it up, making sure to keep the barrel pointing down slightly. Looking in the scope, he saw Akashi's lower torso, or stomach area. Ryou quickly fired a shot at Akashi's stomach area, making sure to aim as close to the center as possible. At such a range, a hit seemed highly likely. Even if it didn't, it would give Ryou a few more seconds to move. And so he did, making sure to run backwards as quickly as he could right after his shot. |

Sandopolis Act 2
|
In the middle of executing a spin kick. Akashi caught a glance of the iguana’s rife. His eyes widened and the tiger whimpered silently, as he caught sight of the weapon aimed at him. The tiger had to think fast about. He quickly lowered his right leg, and leaped forward off his right foot, diving out of the way of his opponent, as he heard the shot from the weapon. The feline executed a roll, as he hit the ground. And flipped back up onto his feet, hiding behind a pillar. “He has a gun… Perfect.” He sarcastically muttered. The tiger looked round the edge of the pillar, noticing Ryou running away. This was two different ways of fighting. Akashi is more used to melee fighting. Where as, judging by the iguana’s rifle. He was more of fighting from a distance. Akashi could fight from a distance too, by throwing a dagger, but he only had, one. Although the iguana’s ammo will run out. But there is no telling, when that will be. Akashi saw another pillar not far from the iguana. He made haste over to the pillar, hiding behind it, from sight. So Ryou could not shoot him… The tiger had to think about how to defeat his opponent. Attacking him from the front did not work. He had to think of a way to distract him, so he could not use his weapon, and fast. The pillar will not shield him forever. The feline looked down, noticing it was a little muddy, from some of the melted snow, in some areas of the arena. That could either be helpful or a problem for him and his opponent. Akashi came out from hiding. He made haste over to the iguana, keeping an eye on his gun. Once he got near, he sidestepped to the side of his opponent, spinning his body round. The tiger followed the spin, by kicking out his left foot. He drew his sword, ready if Ryou uses his weapon again. |

(ok so your opponent has dropped out, which is lucky for you, Zamau. I was about to call for a penalty on you because of the circumstances of you dodging a bullet from a close range shot. In the future, don't pretend you have skills that you don't; stick to fair play and stop dodging bullets!)

TIME TO REALLY EXPLODE!
|
It hit Ryou suddenly, as he watched Akashi approach with his sword. He wasn't cut out for such battles. He was an assassin, not a warrior. He worked in the shadows, killing without being noticed. Having to actually fight was a failure assassination. Even though he wasn't afraid of dying, he didn't want to die like this: half-assed. "I give up!" he declared, throwing his rifle to the ground to signify his forfeit. Let someone else have the glory in this tournament, he thought. Ryou would have his glory in his work. With that, he picked up his rifle again and turned to leave the arena. |
