The impotent, overcast sun had just begun to kiss the stadium roof, suspended over the screaming stands by impressively carved stone pillars. The day had not brought more snow, though a brisk wind had begun to sail across the arenas, bringing the promise of a cold evening and a frigid night. The braziers were blazing once more at the edges of the arena once more, melting the ice that had formed after the conclusion of the first match. The snow layer that not outright melted now covered a layer of mired peat and gravel. The Arenas had not been attended to; Auriel decided the peculiar conditions of the arena would add a psychological factor. They were still functional, to a degree, and it wouldn't until they were properly shattered by the combatant's conditions. And so it was that the heralds led the two combatants onto the field, the audience roaring in approval. Arena Four was the most peculiar looking of the battlegrounds, in that only footsteps covered the ground that hasn't been stirred up into windswept chaos. Snow has been blown everywhere, as though a giant tornado had touched down only in that area, and instead of removing the snow, the tornado had blown it everywhere; against the pillars, against the walls, snow was caked on in a way that made it look like the tornado had just pushed out everything from the center. "I hope I needn't repeat myself, gentlesirs," the herald said smoothly. "Please assume your places on either side of the arena and we'll begin." Without further ado, the herald began his introduction. "My lords, my ladies, welcome to the second match of the tournament! We have for you today two new combatants, one of which have proved their mettle and valor. In the hither corner, I give to you a lady fighter who has performed well this far, and is no doubt seeking her second victory in the tournament. My lords and ladies, please welcome Kelsey Hadley!" "And in the thither corner, I give to you a man who, doing no worse for wear, would well seek to deny Kelsey her second victory, and in so doing, secure a victory for himself! My lords and ladies, please welcome Kenji Bushido!" The audience cheered, and fanfare soared as the herald bowed to the crowd above him. Turning away, he called to the combatants, "Salute your opponent, then begin!" |

Minutes before he entered the battle ground, he had woken up after a gruesome injury and was in a medical room when the herald stepped in. He called him up for the next round and how his opponent was awaiting his appearance. As he walked with him to the arena, he glanced over at his opponent, recently overhearing that her name was Kelsey Hadley. The beastkin-female was that of a Minotaurus by the looks, and it looked like Kenji would have to stay on his toes at close ranges, eying the several axes she presented. The herald ordered them to their corners and conducted his introduction, but one thing he had mentioned had gave Kenji a small laugh. "No worse for wear? Heh, understatement of the century!" He then took a step forward and into the arena, and was met with a slightly surprising field. There was a thin blanket of snow everywhere with the anomaly of the approximate center, where the rough collection of soil dare to exist apart from the snow. Also worth noting was that the walls, logs, and most of the fences were as well iced with the scant layer of snow. He did as he was ordered and saluted Kelsey. He drew his katana sheath from his cloth belt and held it at his waist, bowing at almost 90 degrees. Instantly afterwards he straightened up, pleased now to feel his torso muscles healthy working. He fastened the scabbard to his belt and drew the sword known as "The Black Cat", its blackish tint to the metal reflected no light, as did the while cloth wrapped around the handle. Although one would perceive the draw to be melodramatic, his actions afterwords were more fitting for Kenji. He walked up to the nearest log, slow but joyfully, pushed off the snow from it with a couple swipes and then leaned his left shoulder on it. "You know," He called out to Kelsey in a challenging tone, his tail twitched in an elated way that expressed his intentions. "I really dont have time to sit around and have another thing gore me, so lets cut the chit-chat before it begins and fight, ahh? Whadda'ya say?" He reached down to turn on his IPhone and pressed "play all" on a playlist titled Battles. The first song began to blast from his headphones that dangled off of his neck as he awaited the beast-kin's response. |

'I wonder if they plan to do any evening matches,' Kelsey thought, shielding her eyes upon stepping out into her assigned arena. Like the previously match, she removed the clothing she received before the tournament even begun, and laid it on top of the snow covered fence that surround the arena. Removing the rough shelled jacket, with her body revealed Kelsey placed a hand on her heavily patched midsection that covered above her breasts and wrapped around just below her abs. Her main opponent was a no show in her previous match, giving her a victory, but being here to fight she tested her skill against a full armored armadillo from the judge's booth. She treated it like a warm-up, as she didn't want to physically exhaust herself for today's match; a mistake that had her body wrapped in cloth. Her memory of the fight was as vague as the fog of war, but to put it lightly, Kelsey didn't do particularly well, which ended up setting her back in preparing for the day's match. 'I never did get shorty's name. Do wish to battle him again, though,' the thought had her looking up to the judges booth, checking whether she could see the said madman. Kelsey kicked some snow aside before cocking her head and turning back to her certain opponent. Not wanting to waste a second of the audience's time the herald announced Kelsey's name. She slowly waved her large axe to the audience. As the herald continued with the introductions she sighed, shaking her head. The beastman wasn't in the mood to battle, even after having much time to herself to recuperate from her previous fight. With introductions settled, Kelsey lugged her massive weapon over her shoulders and gave a deep nod as her salute
She lifted her weapon high as stretched up with a yawn. Lowering it down to her side, she gripped on her B.F. axe with both hands. She slowly started to circle around the snowed arena, not willing to initiate the first attacking strike. She didn't speak up for Kenji to hear over the loud crowd, but if he could read lips he would be able to mouth out that she said, "might as well." |

With that small indication of agreement Kelsey gave, Kenji face grew a faint smile. After a moment of hesitation, he took his weight off the upright log as he quickly settled his katana back into its scabbard, reaching with his left hand sanctimoniously behind him for his Nodachi. The click of the shorter sword was simultaneously met with the sound of something cutting the wind. The sword that was once on his back almost dwarfed Kenji in size just by holding it in a ready stance. Slowly taking his right hand from the katana to the longsword, he held a firm face that spelled intense focus. Without any hesitation after the moment his hand connected with the sixty-eight inch sword, Kenji dashed forward, seemingly straight at Kelsey with great speeds. He slowed his pace slightly; he wanted to initiate a reaction from Her before he could break in and close the distance, a dangerous task when your opponent has the CQC advantage. |

'It's like versing that armadillo once again.' Kelsey didn't pay much attention to her opponent, prior to the match. That was until he got himself closer. She noted the definite had height and reach advantage against her short furry opponent and if both were to be disarms of there weaponry these two advantages alone could win her the match. However, the sheer length of the cat's current sword would keep her just in reach of her axe. With her opponent quickly closing the distance, the beastman instinctively swung her axe in front of her, knob pointing behind her shoulder, diagonally to the skies. With Kenji being short stature Kelsey bents her knee and kept the dual blade ends pointing out to the sides, creating the most surface area from any poke like attack to her lower body. The beastman thought to play it safe and start out more defensive; wanting to feel out her opponent's aggression. She may even be waiting for the cat to wear himself out before unleashing a counterattack. With the match still young, she couldn't help but be indecisive with what she could do. The opportunities and options may clear itself once the ball starts rolling. 'Come at me.' |

The moment he noticed Kelsey rearing back for what he thought was a swing, Kenji slammed his feet into the mushy snow, sliding a bit. To make up for this, he gave a small leap backwards, also known as a two-count, while he awaited the axe to pass by. Unfortunately for him, this was not what happened. The axe stopped just in front of him, putting almost a 6 foot gap between the two with it. Although this had offset his strategy by a large margin, after a small pause Kenji thought of a new, risky but clever tactic. Noticing that the massive axe was slightly larger then his Shiro Nekko, all he had to do is get a couple inches closer to be within striking distance. How he planned to achieve this however, was the risky part. At the end of the axe Kenji noticed had a small indent where the two blades split. With no indication of telegraphing his moves, he grabbed hold of the end and flipped himself up onto the axe, holding on with his left hand. He crouched down on the weapon as he brought down his sword onto Kelsey's grip on the axe, hoping to remove her grip and put the axe out of play. |

The cat's pursuit to continue his offensive wasn't a surprise to the beastman, but she was taken back as it the manner he did it in. Even though the cat stood upon her weapon, with her immense arm strength she budged only slightly. Seeing the long sword coming down upon her, Kelsey let go of her weapon and withdrew her welding hand close to her body, almost slamming herself with a punch. With gravity doing it's job the double-edge axe quickly feel to the snow covered ground. She found herself in a bad situation. Because she was shackled to her weapon the beastman wouldn't be able to maneuver well, if the cat landed on top of it. On the flip side gravity may leave the cat exposed in the air. And with knees already bent she only wasted a second to bend her back and shot forward to deliver a Head Burst in the attempt to knock back her opponent and possibly give her enough time to grab her dropped axe. |

As he anticipated, Kelsey dropped the massive axe like it was a burning piece of charcoal. Bracing himself, his left arm dragged his body down with the axe to the ground. Landing perfectly, he looked up to see She was rapidly moving closer, head first. Acting on instinct, he drew himself closer together in an instant, Bringing back his massive sword to aim a thrust towards her midsection while bringing the lower half of the blade about his head in defense. |

Kenji had overextended his attack, as the distance between them was at arms length upon landing on his feet, leaving not room to maneuver the sharp end of the sword between the two. Nor was there was no time for the cat to draw his sword at the beastman as she already started Head Bursting upon his feet touching the ground. The attack would surely connect to knock back the cat with the opening that had been given to her on a silver platter. Whether the distance of knock back was short or far, Kelsey landed low to grab hold of her large axe. When push came to shove she decided to charge forward in the small jungle of wooden polls. She was looking to add pressure on the cat for trying to take a slice at her. |

Kenji's defensive reflex came too late. A blow landed clean on it's target. He felt his feet come off the axe from the blunt force of the blow. He held on tighter to the front end of the weapon to hopefully keep in control of it, but to no avail. Instead, the refusal to let go redirected Kenji up in the air, as his grip on the axe was firm but slipped. He spiraled, not knowing how high he had flown until he landed on one of the thicker logs. Unfortunately for him, he painfully landed on his back. he bounced up from the impact, but afterwards did not move. No, he was not paralyzed, he simply got the wind knocked out of him upon impact. "One hit for Kelsey!" Called the Herald, echoed by a roar from the crowd. "What the ****ing hell...?" Kenji struggled at first, but he soon realized that he had landed on an upright log. Jumping back from the edge in fear of falling, he got back up and rubbed his head. "God... dammit... erh..." Catching a glimpse of what had happened, he realized he had lost his advantage along with giving Kelsey a point. The longer he stared down at her with her axe, the faster his heart beat grew. His breathing became heavier, he could hear the blood pulsing through his ear in anger as his temper grew. He clenched his hands over his head, curling up while standing to avoid blowing up in rage, but this didn't stop him. Shortly after, he lost his emotional control like a firecracker. He whipped his head to the sky, shouting "F***" for a long while in an extremely loud manor, stifling the crowd. Kenji took hold of his Nodachi after his 5 second rage scream and leaped down, but not at Kelsey. He couldn't charge at her, it would only lead to him running right into her axe. He had to distract her, and he knew how. He placed himself behind a much thinner log and upped his sword back. In a sudden swift motion, Kenji brought all his might through and sliced the meter-thick log in half horizontally. After a moment recovering from the strong slice, he drove an equally strong kick into the log, toppling it over in Kelsey's direction. As it began to lean over, Kenji jumped to the edge of the log and dug his claws in. He sat there while the log fell on Kelsey's position, with a meter of it that would land right behind her. He held his Nodachi ready, in case he saw her roll out from underneath he would swing at her, knowing he was in range. |

The cat's loud cry of anger created a quiet atmosphere within their battleground, to where even Kelsey could hear the noises coming from Kenji's. Though it was intimidating enough to stop her from advancing, this got the beastman smirking and feeling in control of the battle. 'Real dumb,' Kelsey turned her axe flat side, both hands tightly gripping the wooden handle. The beastman let out a scream of her own. Her biceps flexed, putting strain on her right arm as the belt that wrapped around it stretched thin in their attempt to secure the muscle down. Unleashing Reckless Swing she swung and smashing the flat side of her axe at the falling structure Kenji put in motion. With a booming crack the hunk of wood was tossed aside, the impact nearly splitting the pillar. Showing off a small testament of a minotaurs' strength. The strike had her arms burning with energy, bring excitement back within her. The skill strike, however, left her near-sighted as evening the closest close in proximity blurred. Kelsey grinned toward Kenji, her wide-eyes carrying a look of a madman in hopes that the intimidation would keep the cat from advancing so she could recover some of her vision. |

As Kenji rode the log down, something caught his eye. He looked over to see Kelsey's axe about to slam flat-side into the log. He slipped out his claws from the log and pushed off it in a diagonal way to his left, flying right over the axe as it slammed the log sideways. He landed on the ground with a bit of a skid because of the snow and whipped around to face his opponent. She gave him a icy cold grin of satisfaction, staring him down as she recovered from her blow to the log. The anger continued to build up as he watched her for a moment, legs spread up in a fighting stance, Nodachi over his shoulders. His breathing quickened moments before he lost his cool again, charging at Kelsey with a battle cry of "Banzai". In little time he was just outside his striking range when he stopped for a moment to take a dive at her, pulling out his katana on the other side with his right and in a reverse grip, similar to someone holding a knife. He didn't strike, however, he prepared himself Kelsey's move with both of his arms back and poised for a strike, hoping to intimidate her. |

If seconds depicted opportunity, the cat definitely choose his at the right time when he launched himself up into the air. The beastman's vision cleared, but her arms pulsed from expelling forceful energy, struggling to keep hold of her axe without the assistance of her other hand. Kelsey's leg almost slipped from underneath her as she stepped back on the wet gravel ground, thinking on retreating from the furry's leap. With her leg's already bent she decided to throw her thought process into the garbage and go head long at Kenji and jump toward the airborne furry, readying to swing and hopefully clash her B.F. axe against the cat's blade. |
