The impotent, overcast sun had just begun to kiss the stadium roof, suspended over the screaming stands by impressively carved stone pillars. The day had not brought more snow, though a brisk wind had begun to sail across the arenas, bringing the promise of a cold evening and a frigid night. The braziers were blazing once more at the edges of the arena once more, melting the ice that had formed after the conclusion of the first match. The snow layer that not outright melted now covered a layer of mired peat and gravel. The Arenas had not been attended to; Auriel decided the peculiar conditions of the arena would add a psychological factor. They were still functional, to a degree, and it wouldn't until they were properly shattered by the combatant's conditions. And so it was that the heralds led the combatant onto the field, the audience roaring in approval. Arena Eleven was host to the bonus match of the first round, and the field bore witness to a brief, yet violent struggle. The snow was broken up in areas as the opponents circled each other, and it was clear that one of the two had recieved more injurious damage than the other, for the blood spattered out more from one than the other. "I hope I needn't repeat myself, gentlesir," the herald said smoothly. "Please assume your place on either side of the arena and we'll begin." Without further ado, the herald began his introduction. "My lords, my ladies, welcome to the second bonus match of the tournament! We have for you today two a combatant who will seek today to acquire a free victory through trial of combat against one of two opponents chosen for this task. "My lords and ladies, I present Jake for your approval!" The audience cheered, and fanfare soared as the herald bowed to the crowd above him, then walked to the nearby herald's tower. Above the arena, Auriel appeared and leaned on the railing. "'Tis th' same requirement ye faced when ye 'ad a normal match, however if ye lose, ye simply keep yer current score. D' ye understand?" |

Jake was just behind a wooden door waiting for his fight to start. He was still thinking about what happened in the last battle. "My lords and ladies, I present Jake for your approval!" Jake almost didn't ear what she said, he then grab his sword and start walking to his spot on the arena. He look around to see that there was almost no ice around the arena and he saw a lot of blood on the ground. He didn't got to affected by that but it did left a strange feeling of discomfort about what could happen next. "'Tis th' same requirement ye faced when ye 'ad a normal match, however if ye lose, ye simply keep yer current score. D' ye understand?" Jake toke a second to re-ear what she just said on his head to make sure he did understand because of the accent. Instead of saying anything he just nodded showing that he did. |

Auriel smirked. "Alright. Good luck t' ye, an' may ye win yer first victory." With a grave nod, he stepped away from the railing and walked out of sight. Samuel loved to fight. It was one of the few things that he really enjoyed, as it allowed him to use what he had been training for ever since he had enlisted in the army so many years ago. On the psychological aspect, he understood that all forms of sentient life were, by virtue of sheer individuality, destined to clash. Rather than stave off the inevitable, he charged headlong into the hazard with sword in hand, a song in his heart and a warcry on his lips. So it was that the doors opened, and the grizzled soldier stepped out of the gloom into full view, the snow crunching under his feet. Fully armed and armored, bare handed except for the straps of the shields perched on his forearms, shining metal pieces glittering in the sun. The audience clamored to see the bonus round combatant, so arrayed for battle and giving the promise of a fierce struggle from the mere sight of him. The snow compressed loudly under his feet, and the roar of the crowd above him drowned out the somber tune he had been humming under his breath. "......Lay me down, in the cold cold ground, Where afore, many more have gone..." The large imposing doors closed behind him, and Samuel executed a brief calsthenics stretch, then unsheathed his two swords, holding them by the pommel grips. Crouching low, he brought them up in an attack stance and snarled. "Are you ready for a war?!" |

"Are you ready for a war?!" Jake look at the sky to see the sun right above him. "This is going to be a long day." He said to himself. As always the first thing was to analyze his opponent. Short was the first thing that ho thought. By the look he had two swords and a shield. Since that was all the information Jake had it was all he cold work with. From the way his opponent entered the arena Jake could sense some overconfidence. If he use that against his opponent it could give him the edge on that battle. Jake tried to show no emotions, he was there to fight, and because of the last battle he realize he had to be that way to win. Trying to get the first hit Jake starts running against Samuel. When he was near enough he swing his sword trying to hit him in the torso region. Did the attack hit or miss he would pull is gun with his right hand and shoot twice at close range trying to keep his opponent occupied so he wouldn't had time to counter-attack. |

(ok, he's got two shields on his arms, and two swords in his hands. refer to his character profile for a full description of his appearance) Jake took a brief moment to look skyward, which Samuel interpreted as exasperation. 'HAH! This'll be interesting,' Samuel thought as he sniggered. He began hopping on the balls of his feet, switching his stance as he lithely swung his arms back and forth, waiting for Jake to make the first move. He didn't have to wait long; after apparently taking a moment to strategise, Jake broke into a run, sword and gun in hand, making a beeline straight for Samuel. Now this, he was definitely familiar with. Samuel quickly switched his grips to the tonfa-handles of his swords, and flipped them so they faced pommel forward. Sparing half a second to grind his trailing foot into the snow, Samuel charged forward as well, boldly declaring his exuberance in a simple battle cry. "FFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH-" The scream was almost unnatural. Samuel had this paltry trick of rapidly sucking air into his lungs necessary for long winded screaming in less than a second, making his battle cry practically endless. It was wholly unnerving, but that was how Samuel liked it. Anything to add to his repertoire, be it physical or psychological, was a welcome tool. "-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH-" The combatants met in the middle of the arena. Jake used his momentum to power a sideways swing, aimed at Samuel's torso region. As he swung, his other hand cocked back the hammer on his pistol. Unfortunately for him, he was the only one of the two who had stopped running. As Jake committed himself to the swing, Samuel kept running full bore into his opponent. Tucking his arms into his sides, Samuel had thrust his forearms forward, presenting the pommels of his swords. A body slam, but with the pommels leading the strike, the maneuver would transfer a lot of energy into one specific area; Jake's solar plexus, to be exact. As Jake's sword strike landed on his shoulder, Samuel's momentum drove the two blunt objects directly into Jake's torso, under his ribcage. In the same moment, he ended his battle cry. "-UUUUUUUUUUCK YOUUUUUUU!" That pistol was still a problem. Samuel had only his shields on his arms, and the pavise shield on his back to protect himself against bullets. One way or another, that weapon had to go. As Jake was reeling (hopefully) from the impact, Samuel swept out with a shield covered arm, aiming to knock the pistol from Jake's weakened (in theory) grip. In the distance, the herald held up two flags simultaneously over his head; a bright green pennant, and a dark blue pennant. "A double first strike!" The audience roared their approval. |

Jake did't expect that. He was concentrate on his attack and when he realize his opponent was still running to do a body slam. Worst was when he hit him. In that moment he start felling weak. Somehow that wasn't a random hit of brute power. It was focused into one small area with was impressive for someone who was running like that. At the background you could hear herald held up a flags. As the audience goes wild. "First strike for Samuel" "This isn't the opponent I was expecting." He thought to himself. Literally moments later Jake saw Samuel shield against his hand. The attack to his stomach take most of his strengths, making the gun fall easily. He could see it slide trow the snow to his side. He jump back to avoid another attack and to recover his strength. His only advantage was that he was still wining by one point and that he could now avoid another attach like that, because he had to hit a small area. He put his hand behind him, and using one foot he press a button on the other. A bit of wind started coming out of his shoes. Jake decided to try again. He tried to hit Samuel again, this time with a slash from up down. He was waiting for Samuel to defend or to avoid it and possibly giving a chance for Jake to trow his dagger with was full of poison. The gun flew out of Jake's weakened grip. Samuel felt an urge to press the attack, but reminded himself that this was a mere arena, not a battlefield. The very notion bit at him, but he allowed the pubescent fox to backstep and regroup. It was just as well, for the rookie was now keeping his distance as he fought his diaphragm desperately for air. Staggering, Jake shifted his step just briefly to depress a button on the top of one of his shoes. Samuel's ears flicked as he acknowledged the sound of a whistling sound coming from his opponent's boots, and glanced down briefly to see wind beginning to whip up the snow behind him. One of the armadillo's eyebrows flickered up momentarily, and he grunted. Finally, Jake attempted to try again, moving to attack as silently as ever. His maneuver came in the form of a downward slash, attempting (Samuel assumed) to probe the top half of his defenses. Ultimately futile, but an attack was an attack, and Samuel aimed to please. As Jake telegraphed his intent through his body language, Samuel drew one of the cords poking out through his coif into his mouth. The fox's sword sliced through the air, and Samuel moved the arm not connected by cord to his mouth, upward to meet it. As he moved, he crouched, sidestepping to the side, away from the sword blow and further into Jake's center area. Clang! Sword and shield struck in an array of sparks; Samuel's arm movement combined with the sword strike to glance the blow harmlessly away to his side. Building on the momentum, Samuel thrust his other arm forward, bringing his shield gatling to bear against Jake's chest, and jerked his head violently backward. Prior to the match, Auriel had told Samuel to remove his regular ammunition. Samuel had protested in due course, but his friend and commander made it abundantly clear that he was not to use blatantly lethal ammunition. Begrudgingly, he removed all twelve iron musket balls from his shields, and replaced them with soft rubber balls instead. It was just as well, he realized. Auriel needed these combatants to give their all, because he wanted the best to survive to the final rounds. As Samuel's fist flew toward Jake's torso, six musket barrels whirled as one. The cabling ignited the percussion caps, and six rubber balls flew out of their barrels, one after the other. To top it all off, he was screaming through his teeth; a wild, high pitched scream that seemed more like shrieking than the word his vocal cords were making. When the going got tough, the tough bit the bullet, and somewhere, a man was calmly setting opaque sunglasses over his eyes. "YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--" BOOM!BOOM!BOOM!BOOM!BOOM!BOOM! Edited by Talancir D'Landior, Apr 12 2011, 06:24 PM.

Wind Shoe - 100% Jake was expecting that. Knowing that his opponent would try attacking his torso again he had a plan this time. The moment his sword hit Samuel shield Jake released his sword and dodge Samuel next attack ducking until the ground. There Jake would use his hand one the ground and the shoe wind to give him momentum to drive his other foot against Samuel legs, in a rotation motion, his most unprotected area. Would that work Jake would take his dagger and aim and trow it at Samuel head, trying to get two point. Did this work or not Jake would get up, if he could, and try to retrieve his sword and his gun. The sudden maneuver had caught Samuel by surprise; Jake's sword, now bereft of the hand that wielded it, catapulted through the air from his upward curving shield bash, up and over the pavise shield strpped to his back. As Samuel thrust forward with his other shield, Jake executed a lithe ducking maneuver that neatly brought him under the majority of his musket gatling. One bullet bounced off of Jake's triceps, and the rest sailed harmlessly over his shoulder to impact against one of the wooden logs behind him. It was the ducking maneuver that Samuel hadn't anticipated. In addition to being an evasive maneuver, it was a low sweep with his legs against Samuel's foundation. The whistling sound he heard earlier intensified as Jake's leg curled out, striking Samuel above his calf, in the bend of his knee. Slightly imbalanced from his own top heavy maneuver, Samuel's left leg was pulled out from under him, and he fell heavily onto his right knee. That was as far as that went, however. Samuel managed to keep his left foot solidly planted on the ground, Jake's leg pinned against it. The armored soldier suddenly found himself one lunge away from extreme close quarters, a situation that made Samuel very, very happy. Dropping his swords, Samuel lunged forward onto Jake, eyes wide, fingers grasping, and a snarl rasping out from his bared teeth. If the young fox hadn't planned to grapple with a heavily armored maniac (by comparison), then he would have to think of something very quickly. Edited by Talancir D'Landior, Apr 19 2011, 10:47 PM.

(Sorry for being one day late. I was waiting an answer from the PM I send you. Here goes nothing.) After Jake attack he didn't anticipated that. The small size and high weight keep him from falling making Jake an easy target. As Jake look at Samuel eyes he knows he's in troubles. Jake wasn't in a position for anything. He couldn't attack or defend. He's only hope was for him to grab his dagger without his opponent know and wait for an attack. His plan was to counter attack, so he was focus on that. With his sword and gun gone and his shoes without battery, that was his last chance. He retracts his legs and waits for a chance. |
