TIME TO REALLY EXPLODE!
|
If you have Firefox, Version 4 has just been released and is available for download They've completely revamped the entire browser. It's extremely similar to Google Chrome now, with minimal toolbars. In fact, all the toolbars are neatly hidden away under a nice orange (In the default skin) "Firefox" button in the corner. More importantly though, it's MUCH faster than 3.X, at least for me. I mean, I'm talking Google Chrome speeds here. I was amazed at how fast I was browsing. It's still a resource hog, though. But at least it's worth it this time around. =P I haven't tried all the new features yet, like grouped tabs and such, but so far this looks like a very good download if you are a Firefox user. For those who have yet to convert from Internet Explorer, this is your strongest argument for doing so.

Alrightly, so I was gonna try the beta for this once upon a time but I never got around to it. But now that it's out I've gone a head and done the update. New layout looks like it's gonna take a while to get used to, but it's not too bad. My persona of choice looks nice on still so I approve of that. Can't really say much else about it since I've litterally only downloaded it within the last 20 seconds. This is like the first thing I've done with it. ![]() I do like that I can see more of a page vertically now though. It always seemed really squished on my laptop given how wide the screen is. But all and all it's looking good. I'll give some thoughts on performance after I've used it a bit more. |P |

Public Service Announcement: If you (like me) have a small problem with Firefox 4 where the default font is all messed up, that's actually a problem with Windows breaking a few things. To fix it, type "about:config" into the address bar, then find "gfx.direct2d.disabled" and set its value to true. |

Well, on my netbook, which I mostly use for browsing, I'm pretty faithful to Opera 11. It's the lowest resource one could find out of IE9, FF, Chrome, Safari, and itself. It's also small for my small netbook screen. I've tried Firefox 4, though, and its menu button looks a LOT like Opera's. Now if only they would fuse it with that cool, cool thing in IE9 where the address bar is in the same Y position as the tabs. Of course, my higher end computer that I use for school will definitely get this upgrade, seeing as I use Firefox anyway on this. |

I just noticed something else I couldn't do before; I can now resize the quick reply window at the bottom. :0 Neat, but I don't think I'll use it. I tend to go to the full reply screen when making big posts anyway.

Hmmm... Had some mild problems installing it over 3.6. Mainly, it had a different install directory than 3.6, So when I ran 3.6, it uninstalled 4. |
