I thought I maybe able to get some advice here with this being a Sonic forum. Maybe someone can help me. I bought myself a SEGA CD about 4 years ago. I have this exact set top SEGA CD back in the 90s and certainly now. I barely played SEGA CD back in the 90s due to it being stole and family members not letting me play before it was stolen so I don't really remember how to open the CD tray. I hear you have to press A B & C and it should open. but it doesn't. Also another issue I'm suffering is when it goes to the SEGA CD title screen I just see the background planets and no SEGA CD logo on it. I found a copy Sonic CD in the CD tray after unscrewing it to see what the problem was. I removed the game but the tray still doesn't open.

if im not mistaken you have to go into the options menu to open the tray. thats all i can answer. if that doesnt work, my advice is obtaining the second model. its fully compatible with the first model genesis. |

I was going to suggest getting over to Google and finding out there But Google actually doesn't have a lot on the subject...When you first turn the thing on, it should play its silly music and give you a choice of something to press, I believe it's the Reset button. Hit that to open it up and off you go. From what I can tell, a lot of people call it the "splash" screen. |

@overdrive jigglypuff Yeah, I would be able to do that if I can get pass the title/splash screen. And I don't want to buy a third system. I have enough power plugs and more pop up everyday in my moving boxes when unpacking. lol @Master of Darkness™ Google was the first place I went to 4 years ago to see how it can be fixed and yes, like you said, there isn't much on the subject. So yeah, been there, done that. I forgot about the reset button, I had tried that as well but still nothing. Maybe I should be a little more clear. Here is another picture but a normal splash/title screen this time. This is not my photo, just showing what I'm talking about with a normal title screen. ![]() Ok, my screen doesn't have the SEGA, SEGA CD logo and Press Start words. on top of the planet background. All I see is the Earth and Moon. And that is as far as I can go with this system. |

I would assume that this console was brought second hand, either on Ebay or car boot sale or something along those lines, from what you've said so far I can only think of two possibilitys . . . A) its broken beyond repair and you lost out big time. B) its a pirated/hack-gone-wrong version of the console and you lost out big time. Either way I dought this will be a problem you can easily fix. |

I bought this off craigslist before the major crackdown. I doubt this is hacked from the sellers that gave it to me. The girl didn't know much about working the system and told me they booted it up and it worked. Maybe that half ass broken screen made them think it worked so yeah I highly doubt they have any type of hacking skills if they can't tell if it's working right. It maybe broken beyond repair or broken to where VideoGamesNewYork (a local video game shop for anything retro) will overprice me to get it fixed. Ah, I hate that I can't play this and I have lots of games for it. ![]() Haha, my friend just told me he got his psp (which is mine now) fixed there for a broken screen from him sitting on it and they wanna to price him $300 intill he start bugging out in the store and it was dropped to $70 for a HD PSP screen |
