Dri lived close by to Oin. He was their neighbor and a best friend to Oin. He grew up with Oin's family, becoming like a brother to Oin since Oin had no siblings. Dri had a little brother that would tag along every once and while. Dri's mother died a few weeks after his little brother was born. They both lived with their father, Ryson, and were content since they had such good friends. Ryson was the one that got Toye, Oin'd father, a job at his company he worked in. His Ryson was the right hand man of the company, so getting Toye in was easy. However, Ryson switched companies suddenly. Why he did so was unknown, but the two families remained close. Ryson was also helping Toye with the Helm project until he switched companies. Several others worked along side Mr. Toye, which resulted in a company finding out and wanting to obtain this project for them self. At first, they came to Ryson to see if they could bribe him making Toye work for their company. Ryson refused and told them to do it themselves, even if it cost him his own job he wouldn't betray Toye. So, the set out to see Toye and tried to convince him.

At this point, Dri and Oin started to get closer, along with three others that lived around them. One day, Dri's father went on a long business trip for a few weeks. Dir ended up staying at his friends house, Eli. Eli was rich and had many rooms for him and his little brother. Once Ryson came back, Dri noticed a difference in him. He was more to himself and hardly spoke to both Dri and his little brother. Dri soon confronted his father, and was told that his company was bought out by another company. This other company part of Eli's family company. Once again, Eli wsa very rich, and his family owned a lot of companies or hand their hands in a good lot of them. Around this time came the news of these outlaws and an uprising to take out the two factions that were at war with each other.

Time went on, and Dri got to spend more time with his friends since his father was distance and he sent his little brother to some private school. Dri had a hunch that his father knew something bad was going to happen so he sent his little brother away. One day, Oin came to Dri with horrid news. He told him and his friends that his mother maybe dead because of that big disaster caused by a bunch of outlaws. After that, Oin grew distance from Dri and his friends. Dri spent most of his time in Eli's house as he got everything he wanted their. Dri tried working for his dad, but his father refused to let him work for his company. He was never told why, but at this point, Dri didn't care since his father was so distance anyways.

One day, Oin came to Dri and his friends, and asked if they could help him and his dad out with a project they were working on. Dri said yes of course, and told his dad where he would be from now on and why. Ryson reacted with anger and ordered Dri to not part take of anything involving the Helm family. Dri lashed out back which threw them into an argument that Dri won. In the end, Ryson didn't show any kind of concern for Dri all this time, so why the sudden change of heart? Dri ignored his father's orders and did whatever he felt like. Once the tests started and Dri injected with these chemicals and implanted with a Helm, Ryson moved somewhere else, which left Dri to leave with Eli permanently. As the tests continued, Dri found out that his father was working for a evil company that only wanted to create weapons of war. As well, Ryson also pointed this company towards Oin and his family.

After Dri heard this, his anger grew for his betraying father. However, that was the least of his worries. These tests were going south at this time. Dri was in pain most of the time. Wounds would randomly appear on his body, and the time it took to heal his wounds took longer then normal. Dri suffered so much and became so fragile. This only build up his anger, and what was worse, he was being kept in some labs for days at a time in order to recover. As time went on, his blood turned green and started to become thicker. Toye called this substance Venus, since it was similar to Mercury in the sense that it was a liquid-solid.

Time went on, but Toye wasn't finding a cure. He figured out a way to calm the symptoms down by introducing the chemical to each of them over and over again. They needed that chemical to stay alive it seems, which wasn't bad if it didn't need to be injected quickly once the symptoms started. Not to mention it felt like they were held prisoner. Dri's anger continue to build since Oin wasn't one of the test subjects. Soon, the time came for Toye to give up his project. However he refused and fled with his son. This angered not only Dri but his other friends since the Helm family just left all of them there to die. They didn't bother releasing them, they didn't care that Dri and his friends had feelings, and weren't lab rats to be worked on and tested day in and day out. They felt betrayed, and formed a plot to escape. Once they got out, they gunned for Oin and his father. Once they found them, they quickly realized that Oin wasn't himself anymore. At this point they could careless and only thought about making Oin and his father pay.

The end result of this brutal battle caused all of them to be captured again. However, the company that took over the project was trying to find a cure for them. So, they agreed to stay with them in order to rid of their suffering. Years later, Oin's mother figured out a way to help each of them. However, the company Ryson was working for had an eye on Project Helm, and waited for a solution to make Dri and his friends better. Once that happened, the company took the program away from Oin's mother. Since Oin was in a coma and couldn't run the project himself, the other company took since they had a partnership with Oin's original company. This lead to more suffering and brutal training.

Dri endured so much, receiving wounds to see how fast he can heal, as well as being injected to turn his mercury like blood into a weapon. Dri's helm allowed him to create this odd blood and allowed him to form solid objects with the blood he bleed. There was a problem with this though. Dri's blood wouldn't heal properly. The cut or wound would continue to pour out until it was covered up, and normal bandages wouldn't work. After a few more tests and trails, and coming to the point of near death, Dri's Helm activate another power. It forced the skin around the cut to expand over the cut and harden. This was extremely painful for Dri. So they tweaked his Helm and adjusted so that Dri could form Helm Bandages. However, Dri could only form these bandages when he received a new wound, or when one of his helm bandages was removed. This gave him the ability to heal quicker then normal. However, this technique wasn't really healing his wound. The wound was still open, just no blood was pouring out when the bandages were formed. In order to heal a open wound, Dri had to wait a long time for his wound to close.

They took advantage of this, and trained Dri to use his blood to form fighting weapons and so on. Dri didn't care too much about hand to hand combat. He himself focused more on shooting, which started to form his Helm into bettering his skills as a shooter rather then a expert fighter.

After a long while, Oin's mother took a stand and shut the company down. She cared about Dri and his friends, and didn't want them to become fighting machines for this evil company. After that, Dri and his friends went their separate ways. However, they all found themselves meeting in Pirate City, where Eli's father had prepared a home for them. Eli's father explained to them that their troubles weren't over. What Dri was told then set in motion an event that would cause the end of the Rubies and Emeralds. But their main focus was Oin, who had woken up and begun his slaughter. The five of them set out to do what must be done.
