You know what? I don't agree with this at all. The name colors are a part of the ranks, and a cool part of the forum. It took me a while to get a new name color. If you take it away, then everyone is the same almost. Just doesn't fit, but your the boss and what you say goes.

No because the colors for the ranks were universal and did not change for skins. It is not possible. However, if you want colors back I'll put them back even if they are eye searing or unreadable in certain skins. They will be different shades however, not the same exact colors. I'm thinking a lighter blue. I will not bring back the font though, it was just.... Well it really wasn't that great. |

Yea, the cursive was annoying. Though I don't get why you couldn't change the colors for each skins, since on Spin Slash the default name was Light Blue while on Shadow Blade it was Red etc. |

OK, and we need different name colors. If everyone on the forum name color is the same, it'll just getting boring and you'll lose a reason to increase your rank. |

@ Radar: BBCode can't be allowed in usernames for members. Changing username color is a universal administrative action. |

Im sorry but EVERY single person on this board having one username color just doesn't feel right and is going to be a little bit confusing when your trying to find someone on the active users list. We used to set ourselves apart from other forums out there with our many different colors but now were pretty much like everyone else out there: all members having one default color which lets face it, isnt very unique. I can understand that some people using some skins may have some difficulty with certain name colors but like others have suggested, if it is that big of a deal couldn't they just change skins? This kind of drastic change obviously isnt fitting for a large number of the folks here. We've gotten so used to the colors and while we CAN adjust I just think it would be easier to go back to the way it was. Honestly, this "fix" seems to be causing more problems then its trying to get rid of. |

If that was possible, I think we'd all go insane. ...More insane. About colors - For a while, I was thinking of asking to change the background for the usernames (for instance, all the colors seemed to work fairly well with black), but that might not look so great with some of the skins... I dunno. About fonts - The fonts were a little much. Though you could try using a different font, I doubt you'd get a whole lot of complaints for getting rid of them. Not like the ones you're getting now, for sure. |

This. The colours were a great community tool and brought a lot of people together, and gave people something to talk about other than "what did you do today? Wow that sucks" - a little OTT but you get my point. People actually discuss about their SB lifes and removing this is almost certainly going to stifle a large proportion of conversational topics in places like the Shack. We're no longer gonna get celebratory community-based chat in the Shack now once someone hits orange, grey or blue names. I don't think people are arguing so much now about the colours, but the fact they're all just one big bland pile of red. See Cy's earlier post on page 2 I think, I agree with that too. While I agree with the removal of the fancy font(always hated it) the username colour removal is not something I like. For those who are saying "zomg give us teh optionz" you try coding a Zetaboard. Metallix can only do what he can with the tools he is provided with; if it cannot be coded it cannot be coded. And it's a lot more work than entering/editing codes in a CSS script, not to mention testing it to make sure it doesn't mess up the pile of existing codes piled into every other skin. Or wait, do you place it in the Theme Layout and hope it transfers properly to every skin? It isn't easy! And if it goes wrong, all he'll get is a bunch of whining teenagers going "zomg so shit fix it nao" like every time an image goes walkies on a skin... So to bring my wall of text to a point, I would like to propose bringing back the colours - but test them properly as a community to ensure that they all work to a standard everyone is happy with. It doesn't necessarily have to be the same ones as before, but you'd be very surprised - as you can see from the responses in this thread alone - how much of a difference it is making to not be able to aim for a blue name any more. |

I say just bring back the colors, simple as that. It was just too sudden a change and maybe 5-10% of the members here really didn't mind the change at all. The fancy font tho', yeah, you can remove that. It never even showed up for me, so I just set them to my own custom font. |

Different colored names is not unique. SB is not the only forum on the face of the Internet that does it. Secondly, I find it a bit hypocritical that some of the members here who are adversed to the username change are mad that Metallix did it without their consent, but have no problem telling the people who were complaining about the usernames clashing on different skins to put up or shut up and simply change to a skin that they may not even like in the first place. Seriously, way to be "fair." And the fix is causing problems only in that people are being adversed to change simply because it's a change. It doesn't significantly take away from SB's uniqueness. It doesn't make members harder to find when you can use the Find function by pressing CTRL + F and type in a name. It doesn't take away from the ranks or the satisfaction in earning new ones because you get a new pip every single time you climb the ladder. It's a simple aesthetic change, and people are acting like Metallix did a mass banning or something. Edited by BlizShadow, Feb 27 2011, 01:27 PM.
