Update: Changes to ranks!

I don't think so as no color will blend in perfectly with all of the skins. For instance the blue we had for Hero ranks worked very well on skins like Dreamcaster but did not work on the default skin. We can't have rank colors different for every skin and we can't have an on/off option. One rank is one color throughout all of the skins for everyone.

Admin ranks were unable to be seen in Ice Cap practically. There are ways we can make things stand out other than colors you know?

Posts: 6,546 Group: Former Monarchs Member #6,722 Joined: March 16, 2008	In further defense of the decision, I could see a better need for the different-colored names if we all didn't have the pips, banners, and rank names displaying our posting habits like bright neon signs. I know of more forums that use the same colored username for everyone but use banners and whatnot to make the distinction, and it works just perfectly fine. No one rational is going to believe I'm a new member for the simple fact that I possess a pink banner. The different orders of Chaos and Sol Emeralds and rings and whatnot most members around here have also serve to make the ranks fully-advertised and relevant. However, the way the usernames were done, multiple orders of ranks used the same color and font, which was a bigger arbiter for confusion than anything else as it provided little distinction between people who may have been hundreds of posts apart. If we were going to get rid of something in the process of simplifying ranks, the user names would have been the easiest to sacrifice.

Besides, some of the skins you're referring to, Metallix, really don't look that visually appealing in general, to be perfectly honest. If anything, you should just get rid of some of the skins. :/

SHIT'S GON' DOWN.~~ I don't personally think saying that same coloured names work perfectly fine is really an argument, especially since I thought this place was supposed to stand out from a crowd? I still think all the names were visible on the skins, and hell, the Mobius Girls skin and the like itself was too bright for me to stay on. That's just me personally, but it needs to be said. I can understand this change for SB Mobile, but I still fail to see why it should be forced on to every skin as well. I realise I'm not a member who will understand the technicalities, but I thought the usernames' old style brought vibrance and life? ~~Besides, Sonic's ALL ABOUT colo(u)rs right now.~~

Look under your username at the pips you have gathered; Note how the number of icons you have gathered better notes the user rank you have reached than merely possessing a single color for a large swathe of ranks, thus providing more distinction. Also, look at the banners that staff possess. Can the detractors tell me why those don't do the job adequately enough? Can someone explain this to me how the username set up didn't actually downplay your rank and adding something that absolutely could not be expressed better by another method we already use? :P Edited by BlizShadow, Feb 27 2011, 12:33 PM.

Also, as someone mentioned, at the very least the Staff should have different colors. To be honest, them just having larger font looks a bit clunky. (I know I just posted the same thing in the Shack, I just got the topics confused for a minute... <_< )
