So who thinks that Sonic Chronicles should be canon? I think that Chronicles should be canon. It ties into some of the stories in other Sonic games, like the Echidna backstory that we learn about in Sonic Adventure, plus it ties into Sonic Battle with the Gizoids. Do you think that Sonic Chronicles deserves to be canon? |

Ugh, really, DSF? You're really bringing this argument back up?  Everyone else here agrees that Chronicles is a non-canon spinoff. There's really no point in going on about it. |

I certainly wish it was canon, but I can imagine that stems from Shade, Scylla, Charyb, and Bioware fanboysim.  I loved the addition of the Nocturnus clan, really. They were implemented in a way that made sense (with some minor suspension of disbelief), and they looked awesome. Plus, Shade, man. I won't deny that it's been deemed spin-off status by Sonic Team or whoever, but I certainly feel that it could have been labeled as canon without too much problem.

Also, Sonic Chronicles takes place two years in the future of the main series, so even if it is canon, none of the events of the game have even happened yet in the main series.

Nothing "deserves" to be canon in a fictional universe anymore than real life events "deserve" to canon to Earth's history. Shit just happens, good shit and bad shit. It's no skin off my nose. The quality of the product in question stands whether or not it happened anyways. In cases where it's indisputable what has and hasn't happened, is it worth anger and disappointment? Just enjoy the damn game.

Precisely. As I said before, a work does not have to be canon for you to love it, and it is not canon just because you just it so much. I don't know why you're so hellbent on going on that it's canon. The game isn't better or worse either way. |

I definitely think it should be canon, Sonic Chronicles was really one of the only attempts recently that really tried to put emphasis on the story element of the Sonic series. Not to mention I love how much attention it gave to Knuckles, my favorite character in the series. He was no longer a dimwit, and returned back to his personality in the Adventure series. I loved that they were trying to expand on echidna history, I loved alot of things about the story actually. And goshhh, I hope Sega didn't can the sequel, I hate that cliffhanger so much. I hope Sega at least tries to dive into the RPG genre again because then my dreams of an awesome Sonic RPG series will finally come true. |

It really doesn't matter if any of us think that Chronicles deserves to be canon, it's been stated that it isn't canon. Thus this whole debate is pointless. It's not like wishing that it was canon will suddenly make it so. Chronicles isn't canon. The end.

No shit. lol I'm pretty sure none of us expect it to suddenly be verified as canon just because we want it to. This isn't even a debate. The TC just poorly worded the topic title, I think. It's still a rather pointless topic. It's like making a topic about "Do you wish Sonic Heroes wasn't canon?" The fact is, it's canon. Events happened in that game that stuck to the rest of the franchise from then on. It has very little discussion value. And just so you know, I don't have anything against you, DSF.
