The sun arose the next morning over a whitened landscape. The cafeteria had prepared a light breakfast for those who wished to eat before their fight, and bonfire pits had been dug at intervals into the ground. The snowstorm had largely blown itself out; only a slight flurry floated gently downward from the sky. The door to the arena battlegrounds stood closed, and Auriel stood silently in front of them, his gauntleted hands clasped behind his waist. When all were gathered, he spoke, "There be one o' ye who'll be th' Champion this time 'round. Many o' ye'll fight fer it, but only one'll claim it. Oi pose these questions t' ye: Who then 'as th' right t' call us victor? O' who'll th' poets adore in prose an' song when th' dust 'as settled? 'Tis naught but th' roaring crowd, th' audience who takes note; th' final opinion that crowns heroes an' makes tyrants rot in cold dungeons. D' ye 'ear 'em? D' ye 'ear their clamour?" Auriel raised a hand above him; at this signal, choreographed fireworks soared up from the castle turret in the middle of the battleground, and split the air with thunder and noise. The audience in the nearby distance roared their approval. Auriel let his arm fall to his side, and glanced up and down the group of assembled warriors. "Go, an' win glory fer yerself, yer family, country, or whomever. Yer destiny awaits." The doors behind him opened to reveal a stone passageway, held up by reinforced wood buttresses and lit by brass lanterns. Inside the hallway were doors, next to which heralds were standing, calling out names. "You there! Are you Akashi? Oh, I should hope so. So many katana users out there.... And you, you must be..... Yes, that has to be you, Vanadium. Come on then, let's get you two in your places." The herald promptly leads you to the arena, the snow crunching under his paws. There as a layer of snow about four inches thick, covering what appeared to be a layer of peat and gravel. Wooden logs were posted up from the ground, seemingly at random and offering a modicum of cover. To counter the heat, eight large iron braziers on metal legs were set against the perimeter of the arena, blazing hot from the fires that had been burning in them since early morning. The snow under them had already melted, turning the peat into a thick, muddy bog several feet out from the braziers. "When I say, you'll head to the opposite sides of the arena, you two. Next to the fenceposts, I've got them marked. You, stand there, and you over there. Now then, you've understood that you've ten blows on your opponent to win. Torso (that includes the shoulders, mind) and thighs count as one strike, the head, two. Only seven points to be counted by ranged. If you've a mind to surrender, shout your intentions, that the judges, your opponent, and myself can hear them. Do you two understand?" After hearing the replies, the herald nodded, and turned to the arena audience. "My Lords, My Ladies, welcome to the first round of the Fourth SB Tournament! Announcing their debut match, I give you Akashi and Vanadium!" The audience erupted in applause and cheering, and the fanfare horns blew their salutation. Bowing, the herald turned to the combatants. "Head to your starting positions, salute your opponent, then begin!" Edited by Talancir D'Landior, Feb 12 2011, 07:57 PM.

Sandopolis Act 2
|
Akashi entered the arena holding up he right hand, waving at the crowd. He walked over to his corner, as he was instructed. The tiger gazed left and right, inspecting his whereabouts. He heard the crowd cheering in the background. The feline turned around, and faced his opponent. He bowed at is opponent, then raised his hands up to his face and clenched his fists. The tiger was ready to fight, but he waited until his opponent was. Hopefully his martial arts background, would give him and advantage. He did not know what his opponent, was capable of doing. But the feline would be ready. Edited by Zamau, Feb 13 2011, 09:17 AM.

Vanadium continued to study the outlay of the arena that he would be competing in today, throughout the twilight until the dawn. He watched as the massive braziers blazed and created pockets of muddy bog along the perimeter, a stark contrast to the rest of the snow-ladden arena floor. He scanned the various logs jutting from the ground, marking their ages before they were cut down. The plans he had for these logs were likely different than his opponent's, and he was going to enjoy removing the advantage from his him. It was then he noticed a thin layed of frost covering his body, to which he incresed his internal temperature a few degrees. "And you, you must be..... Yes, that has to be you, Vanadium." That unexpected voice had utterly shattered Vanadium's peace. The very notion that he was enjoying a peaceful moment was rare enough, and this little createn had come along and disrupted it. He would have liked nothing better than to leap down from from his post and tear the nuisance's head from his body, but, surpressing his anger for the time being, leapt down and said "yesssss.....what do you want?" his words were laced with malice. Do you two understand?" Vanadium didn't bother to respond, because he knew the herald would not dare ask again. He idly took a few steps into the arena he had studied for hours and gazed upon the nameless faces of the audience, roaring for the action to commence. He sauntered over to the wooden fenceposts and continued his trek to the corner atop them. Several posts in he felt the need to speak out to his opponent. "If it's all the same to you, I'd like to get this over quickly and efficiently. There are much more worthy opponents waiting for me, so for the sake of convenience, you may come at me now." Vandium said this while sparing no glance at his foe, nor any particular interest in the fight ahead. Edited by Red Ranger Eater, Feb 13 2011, 10:20 PM.

Akashi gazed across at his adversary, who wanted him to make the first move. The tiger did not hesitate to respond. He made haste towards his opponent know as Vanadium. The feline glanced at the logs, wondering how he could use those to his advantage, now or later in the fight. When Akashi was close enough. He threw a right fist, aiming for his opponents head, followed by a left fist to his stomach. Starting off with some basic fighting moves. He had little confidence starting of fight. He was more prepared, with his opponent to start. |

The tiger had taken the bait, hook, line, and sinker, just like Vanadium knew he would. As the tiger made a dash toward him, Vandium cocked his head to the right to look at the log sitting idealy a few feet from him. This was the reason he had lured the tiger to attack him here. Taking an abrupt halt, he turned on his post and waited for the inevitable attack, which came in the form of two quick jabs, the combined hit total if they connected adding to three, not that it mattered. It was at this time that Vanadium began to rethink his strategy for this round. He could very clearly see the adjacent arena and its combatants, their battle hadn't seemed to commence yet, and if he could see them then there was no doubt they would see him. It was then he decided to abandon his deceptive tactics in favor of a quick, brutal assault. Jumping clear of the tiger's attack, Vanadium latched onto the log's edge with his left arm, then fired his right energy saber to life. The blade burned with tremendous power and was enveloped in a violet glow, trails of energy wisped like smoke across the blade. Taking one powerful slash, he severed a 2 foot tall stump from the top of the log and lauched himself up with his arm, grabbing the log section in the process. Following a midair rocket assisted spin, Vanadium hurled the stump at his foe with deadly precision and force, ending the stunt by converting to his alternate mode and hovering just out of reach. Sandopolis Act 2

Akashi missed with his punches, as Vanadium dodged his attack, by leaping up to one of the log’s. The tiger took notice of the weapon his opponent used to assist him. “what is that?” The feline would have to think of another way to fight his opponent. Since his foe was now on the logs. Climbing up after him, would slow the cat down and give his opponent the advantage. While the tiger was, thinking. He caught sight of a log flying towards him, also noticing Vanadium was floating. Akashi jumped, diving forward out of the way of the oncoming stump. He rolled forward as he hit the ground, then flipped up onto his feet. The feline turned around and gazed up at his opponent. He looked down at the dagger strapped to his left boot. He grabbed the dagger with his right hand, holding the tip of the handle between his thumb and index finger. The cat threw the weapon up to his opponent. With it, spinning as it flew. |

"What is this?" Vanadium said of the pitiful weapon barreling toward him. His boosters kept him afloat by expelling jets of energy, just putting that weapon in the path of one would melt it instantaneously, but it wouldn't be half as fun. Performing a split-second midair transformation sequence, Vanadium moved just out of the path of the small blade, allowing it to fly onward for an extra second before he swiftly plucked it out of the sky. "You impudent fool! What did you plan to accomplish with this!?" Like a bowman's arrow, Vanadium lauched the dagger into the top of one of the logs, at the same moment, his visor began to glow a violet hue. After a brief period, he let loose a blast of powerful energy, surging with plasma and electricity, a trail of violet smoke billowing behind it as it collided with the log, effectively disintegrating the dagger and reducing 3/4ths of the log into a storm of splinters, leaving the rest a scorched remnant. |

Sandopolis Act 2

The feline saw that his dagger, was destroyed by his opponent. He quickly moved away and hid behind one of the log’s. This was not going to be an easy fight. His opponent was a machine, what could change into two forms. Also he could fly too, what gives him an advantage. Akashi had no idea how to defeat his opponent. He was a tiger fighting a machine, it seemed he did not have a chance. But his opponent cannot be indestructible. There has to be a way to defeat it. Akashi came out from hiding and climbed up, on top of the log, and gazed at the machine. He noticed another log, a bit higher than the one he was stood on. The tiger jumped to the other and stood on the surface. He gazed at Vanadium, and noticed other logs ahead he could jump to. The feline grabbed one of his smoke grenade’s, and thought it could be helpful. He pulled the pin and threw it at his opponent. “Heads up!” Once the grenade explodes, or is hit with a huge force. A huge cloud of non lethal smoke will emerge, blinding his opponent for a while, if in the cloud. As Akashi threw the grenade. He leaped to the other logs getting closer to his opponent. He drew his sword ready, if his plan works. If not he will have an alternative. |

"Again with your pathetic weapons!?" questioned Vanadium, grabbing the trinket as it came at him. Applying a vice grip to the grenade, he accidentally set it off, a cloud of smoke erupting out from it at all sides. The bleach white gas enveloped him within, rendering his optical sensors useless. He was given no choice but to blindly charge forward to escspe the smoky tomb and regain his sight, and when he did, he found himself about to collide head-first into a log. Luckily, given his advanced reflexes, Vanadium was able to dart right just enough to avoid a collision, and quickly converted to jet mode, ascended to a safe height and flew like a vulture circling its dying prey over Akashi. 'Make another move, I dare you...' he angrily thought as he circled the arena, cannons locked on target. |

Akashi gazed up at his opponent. Since he was in the air. The tiger had no chance in fighting. So he thought, maybe he could bring him back down. "You will not fight me on the ground? You may have an advantage up in the sky. You are a machine and I am a tiger. So come down and fight." The feline hoped that his shouting, would persuade his opponent to come down and fight. Or it would anger him. Akashi got himself ready for anything, but he was more prepared for a fight on the ground. He jumped down off the log, and gazed back up at the machine awaiting his response. |
