The (I believed) long awaited return of our favorite color-coded heroes occured a few days ago. Again under the banner of Saban Brands, the Rangers are back to face a new threat. The evil Lord Zandrid and his army of Nylocks threaten to Flood the word and destroy all life. The wise Mentor Ji summons a squad of highly skilled warriors and trains them in the ways of the samurai so they may combat Zandrid and his Nylock horde. Armed with powerful Spin Swords and incredible vechicles called Zords, this band of heroes is the worlds last defense against the threat of Zandrid. To the uninitiated. The power Ranger series is an americanized adaptation of Toei's Super Sentai Series. This new series utilizes footage from Samurai Sentai: Shinkenger. I admit I was semi interested in this series, firstly because I didnt know any way to watch the original series. Secondly, I loved the Original Rangers and after Disney got their rusty meathooks into the series, I was ecstatic to know Saban had regained control. Needless to say, the show brought back a ton of memories. Especially the fact that the actor who played Bulk in the original series had reprised his role. The action was standard japanese Toku, over the top moves, flashy effects, and of course a grotesque enemy. Finally, that opening theme kicks so much ass! |

Huh, whaddya know? I was wondering if this would ever get localized. xD Knowing Australia it'll probably only air at 6 AM (i.e. When I'm not awake) on a Saturday or something, but I'll keep an eye out for it. For now I guess I've got some Youtubin' to do. I wonder what Cat will have to say about this, though. EDIT: Having just seen a comparison of the first fights from both the Original and the Localized versions, I'd have to say that I prefer the Japanese one myself. A couple of the things got lost in translation and I'd have to say that some of the lines in our version irk me. But maybe that's just me. ^^; DOUBLE EDIT: And I just listened to the theme song. Throwback to the original theme gets some win points from me. Although it's littered with the line "Rangers Together, Samurai Forever". This line irks me for some reason. I don't know why, but I cringe a little whenever I hear it. .-. |

Oh wow Power Rangers are still going, huh? I used to love the original series, like Guru, before Disney got a hold of it so it is really nice to see Saban has regained control over it. I hope it is as deliciously cheesy as the original. Although... no Rita!? Waaah!~ -dramatic flailing stock footage- |

Of course the adapted version will never achieve the same quality of the original. But it at least will bring a few good things with it. The theme for one. As for the "Rangers together, Samurai forever tagline, I don't find anthing "wrong" with it. I do think it may have been better if it was "Rangers forever, Samurai together" but thats just me xD |

I saw one episode, and I have to say... I much rather prefer Shinkenger... >.> |
