 ...What? Lil Avii and Bliz are the only ones allowed to do things like this?

SO! If you have been paying any attention at all, you know that April 8th is Sonic Blast's 5th anniversary of being on the web!, if you don't...then I don't know, maybe you'd see better without that paper bag on your head?

Let me say one thing first, I love this community. I love it to death. I was but a lonely noob, but by some unlikely circumstance you all put up with me anyway, and I'm grateful for that. So in order to express my thanks, I wanted to make a tribute, a thank you to the great forum that's sheltered me from this harsh internet for almost two years now (exactly two years next week). This started out as a secret project. I had recently acquired Flash, so I was going to surprise people with a flash cartoon.

I guess I was stupid for thinking I was a master of flash after the first day.

But it struck me, this is a tribute to the community, so how about the community contributes? It worked during the holidays, it can work now.
My proposal is essentially a sprite flash. unfortunately, I lack the artistic talent to draw the thing, and frankly, sprites are my forte. Any one with a sprite sheet, please PM me the link, and a quick run-down of your character's personality and attacks. Now I know not all of you are spriter's or have large animated sprite sheets, but luckily, I'm a spriter! Give me anything, LITERALLY ANYTHING no matter how singular or noobish, and I can fill in the rest for you. However, please give me some pity, if you have a sprite sheet, but you think it looks bad, send it anyway, you will save me a lot of work load. For these reasons, those of you with less sprites may get smaller parts in the over all production, but hey, we can't all be stars.

So here is what I require from you, the community.
  • Any type of sprite or sprite sheet you have of your character.
  • A description of your characters personality and attacks. Any close relationships/rivalries with existing characters will also help.
  • Any suggestions as to what you'd like to see.
  • Your support of course. ~<3
The more information you give me, the larger your part in the tribute.

This are services that I don't require persay, but they would help A LOT.
  • Any Spriters or pixel artists to help me with the workload.
  • Any flash animators to help me or possibly take the animation aspect off my unskilled hands.
  • Any digital artists to draw out stills of major points in the story, but possibly just the ending scene.
  • Any writers that could help the story progress


If you don't have sprites, not even one, then post up a diagram, a furry dollmaker screen shot, a written description, anything really, but know you will have a minimal part in the plot.

3) I dont draw digitally, so i cant lend you a hand there...
But now this last one is quite intriguing....

You say you need help with a story to create a Flash either based off of or for Sonic Blast? Well, i guess the appropriate question to ask is: When do I start? xD

I would gladly help you make and shape the story you want for the 5th anniversary of =SB-! If you do need help, that is.

I think this is a lovely idea Pigmask and I think that it will really gain popularity the more you advertise and keep everyone informed as to what is going on with it.

I'd love to partake but sadly I don't have sprites of my character. However, I wish you all the best with your work and I look forward to seeing what comes out of it.

thank you for the approval, but like I said, a drawn picture or physical description will suffice, And I can make one or two sprites of your character, we will need a few background characters, and they would do nicely.

 Awesome. As a veteran (I joined in October-November 2007), I have to say that I'm really proud of this site and its community. I may post some sprites here....But I don't have any. I'll try to send the ones I have, though.

 Wow, 5 years! Way to go, SB!

I like to think I'm half-way decent at spriting. While I don't really have a character sheet (or a character, for that matter), I could probably help with making a couple of very basic sprite poses for someone else's character. I can't promise anything more than a basic edit, but at least it'll be something to put in the video!~

If anyone is interested, PM me a picture and/or extremely vivid description of your character's appearance. I can only do one at a time, though, so it's first come first served.

Out of curiosity, Pigmask, what's the deadline for the project? That way I'll know how many I can complete and when they'll need to be completed by.

 @ Leafy: Ideally, the project should be finished and posted on the date of the anniversary, April 8th, but we may need the sprites beforehand so we can add them in. So let's say late March? Ideally they should be done by March 31, that way we have a buffer for the animation.

 Interesting.
I think I'll have to crack out my old sprites and maybe make some new ones.
Not saying I'll be making sprites for other people though, I have to finish mine first after all.
Only problem is that it takes me so long per sprite.
If anyone has tips to speed up the process...

 @ Pigmask: Late March? That shouldn't be a problem! Thanks for the date!

@ Darkfarr: I find it easiest to start just by selecting my basic colour pallet and a few variations of each colour... it makes thinks easier to have access to all the colours before hand, so you can start the shading/highlights when you see fit. I'm not sure if you already do that or if it'll help you any, but hopefully it will!

I don't want overload myself and end up disappointing someone by not finishing their sheet, I'm only going to accept three requests at a time. Princess Sonia has already asked me to make a few sprites for her character, so only two more spots are open until everyone's requests are complete. :)

Currently attempting to return.
 I decided to start learning spriting/ creating sprites in the start of this year. Can't promise anything but I'll try to have some sprites until the end of this month.
