Oh man!

The idea of super man actually fighting villains that, let's just say Luthor hires to destroy Superman/The World that's friggin awesome. Imagine a face-off with Darkseid or Doomsday with today's technology that would look flat out amazing. I agree I think the world is bored with Luthor and having him out of the spot light and letting others shine would be great.

I've always wondered why Superman movies never see fit to pit his equally powerful enemies against him. Yeah Superman I just had Lex and was awesome and Superman II had ZOD and his cohorts, but Superman Returns seemed to have no idea how to make Lex a threat when it could have just had Brainiac come in and make like a giant...robot...thing, or something.

Well, Superman Returns was basically a some-what sequel to the original Superman film, and a little bit to Superman II. I don't know why they didn't just reboot it then a long with Batman Begins, it just made no sense to make a requel (?) to a movie that's over 30 years old now. But whatever, we're getting one now. Hopefully the public will accept this new Superman film. This is Zack Snyder, he knows how to deliver great action scenes and stay faithful to the source material. What he did with Watchmen was phenomenal. Many people didn't think Watchmen could turn into a film, guess he proved them wrong. He did change some things, but a Giant Squid would just be ridiculous, so I can understand some of the changes he did film-wise. :D

She looks quite young to be Superman's mother! O_o Or are you talking about his mum on Krypton or Earth adopted family?

Nope! She's playing Clark's earth-mother. She wasn't really old when they first found Clark and started taking care of him. They can always make people look older if they have to anyways. But that picture makes her look younger than other photo's I've seen her in. But a lot of people have said what you just did! XD

I suppose it is still a surprise to hear that someone that young is going to be playing his mum, but I guess like you say they can make her look older if they want.

Looks like Russel Crowe may be up for the part of Jor-El, Superman's father from Krypton. :D

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/15/russell-crowe-joins-superman-man-of-steel-jor-el_n_877642.html

Director: Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen)
Producer/Writers: Chris Nolan, David Goyer
So, here's the cast so far:

Henry Cavill: Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman
Kevin Costner:(Jonathan) Pa Kent
Diane Lane: (Martha) Ma Kent
Amy Adams: Lois Lane
Russel Crowe: Jor-El
Julia Ormond: Lara

Possible:
Antje Traue: Faora

Zod will be in this film. I really hope we get an awesome fight sequence with him. Zack Snyder is really good at making things look "pretty," IMO. I can't wait to see what style he uses for Superman. Hoping we get a teaser with the new Sherlock Holmes.

Oh, and here's some non exciting set photos of the film. Looks like Superman may be going through some buildings. ;P

Huh. I just noticed this...

Wasn't a big fan of the last Superman movie, but seeing Chris Nolan is directing this one, I'll likely give this chance. Although I'm not that familar with Superman, with the only people I know is Clark, Lois, Lex, and Braniac. So I have no clue who Jor-el is and the other villians.

Trust me, you're not alone on hating the last Superman flick. I did not like it either. I guess that's why we're getting this reboot of a film. This will be a way different film. The director of the last one was trying to follow the older Superman movies. The new one won't be and will be it's own thing. :D

Jor-El is Superman's biological father from the Planet Krypton. In most of the comics origins' the planet Krypton exploded as a result of a nuclear chain reaction caused by the planet's unstable radioactive core (which created the Superman-deadly Kryptonite) Jor-El knows this, but nobody believes him on Krypton, so he builds a spaceship to save his son from the destruction.

The yellow sun of Earth gives him his powers. If he isn't around the yellow sun, he loses his powers. So, on Krypton, they're basically just humans who can live a long time. Sorry for rambling, but I <3 Superman. :D

Oh, and Nolan won't be directing this, but he is going to play a pretty big role. More like a "god-father" role. Probably making sure Snyder doesn't mess it up, because Nolan's two favorite heroes are Batman and Superman. XD

The release date for this film just got pushed to JUNE 2013

The only thing so far that has disappointed me with this movie was the lack of Lex Luthor. I know there's still time for them to reveal him but it seems ridiculous to me to even leave me out. Next to the Man of Steel himself, he's the most important character in the series. I don't think that Zod was even a good villain choice, anyway. Why not Brainiac? I don't know, maybe I'm just nitpicking. I'm sure it can't be any worse than Superman Returns with the whole skewed color scheme... We'll just have to wait and see.

Lex Luthor has been used so many times, though. I do hope he's in it, but doesn't have a major role.

Also, Morpheus (Laurence Fishbourne) Has been cast as Perry White. I think that's awesome.

Well, the problem is, Luthor is Kal-El's absolute arch-nemesis. I can see what you're saying with him being over used many, many times, but if this is a complete reboot the entire series, than Luthor should be introduced first. It seems Snyder is taking up Nolan's complete formula of not introducing the most major villain until the sequel, and not even having the hero's name in the title of the movie.
