Superman 2013

Just as of today, Henry Cavill has been casted to play Clark Kent/Superman. This film is directing by Zack Snyder (Watchmen & 300) and the film is being "god-fathered" by Chris Nolan (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception) This is going to be a more contemporary take on Superman, nothing that has been seen before on film. Not connecting to the old films in anyway! Superman is my favorite hero, and I cannot wait to see/hear more about this!

Henry Cavill/Clark Kent comparison:

He was actually in the run to play Batman when they testing for Bruce Wayne for Batman Begins. He also tested to play Superman in the previous movie and they said he was too young. I bet he's glad he waited until now. :D

He's been a fan favorite for many years now, it's so weird to see a fan favorite actually get the role. That has only happened once (with Christian Bale as Batman) Coincidence? Probably. :P

Huh? Smallville is a TV series, it's going to end this season. (In a few months.) Tom Welling plays Clark Kent on the show.

But this is a film heading to the big screen. :D Henry Cavill will be playing Clark Kent/Superman, and this is going to be a more "modern" approach for Superman. And has no connection to the Donner Films/Smallville/Superman Returns at all. It's basically what Batman Begins was for the Batman franchise.

Good, 'cause Superman Returns was disappointing as heck.

Though, seeing Clark Kent in a hoodie is... well, inconceivable enoguh to make my brain hurt. O_o It's gonna be interesting, that's for sure.

I dig the hoodie look. It was from the new graphic novel Superman: Earth One (Which is a modern take on Clark.) I find it interesting, because one of the writers for the new Superman movie left a comment at the end of the graphic novel saying it's "Completely accessible, fresh, and most importantly, humanistic." He also wrote the introduction to the book. If they take a few elements from the graphic novel, I'll be pleased. We DO NOT need a bumbling Clark Kent in this day 'n age. Chris Reeve mastered that take on Clark Kent. I'd like to see something new, which we will get. :D

All we need is a JUSTICE LEAGUE movie. Starring: Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern, and [Insert Actor Here] as The Flash.

Dunno if any of those are starring, but, uh...

He actually looks like he would've made a better Batman...if only because of the blue eyes.

That Justice League movie is never, never, never, never happening. I don't even think it's real...I don't even think Avengers is coming out in 2011.

Wait, it is real, slated for 2013.

Bye Henry. What little I know of you.

More seriously, though, he'd better have shaved for the role.

It's eternally tragic that that which is magic be killed at the end of the glorious chase. From young seals to great whales, from waters to wood, they will fall just like leaves in the wind. With perfumes and fur coats and trophies on walls, what a hell of a race to call men.

He can actually be scruffy if this is going to be Clark exploring the world, trying to figure out what to do with his life. But when he's Superman, he's going to be clean shaven. Zack Snyder is a great director, nothing to worry about. I can see him as Batman as well, but Nolan is good with picking actors for the part. I'm pretty positive Cavill is going to be a great Superman.

He'll break the Superman curse, as long as the movie's good. :P And yeah, that Justice League movie isn't happening. DC has announced quite a few movies then backed out on them, like Lobo. Yeah, Avengers movie is coming out 2012, or suppose to. I could see it getting pushed back, but you never know. I bet DC might wait to see how it pans out for Marvel with The Avengers, then consider making a Justice League movie.

Here's a very Clark Kent looking picture of Cavill:

All right whilst I cannot stand Superman as a "hero" I have to say that this Cavill guy looks perfect for Clark Kent/Superman so much so in fact that I may actually go and see the film when it comes out in the cinema.

I actually know quite a few people who can't stand Superman or think he's lame, or outdated. Hopefully this movie can change people's minds about what they think of the Man of Steel. :D

Being a fan of Chris Nolan and Zack Snyder, I was already looking forward to this film. They hardly ever let me down with the films they produce. Let's face it, Superman needs a little updating. His last big film was probably Superman II. Superman Returns was a major letdown to most people.

I just feel that "Superman" is a bit too illogical, I mean if he were someone's fan character people would be saying "Come on quit God-modding!" he is too perfect and I also find it totally bizarre how a planet that no longer exists and has his weakness in rock form is in such vast and easily accessed quantities on earth. Lex seems to have a cupboard or five full of Kryptonite...

I digress, I went to see Superman Returns and whilst "some" parts of it were actually quite nice as they felt like homages to the older Superman films (when he was up in space above earth listening to all the voices and such) was a great touch, little things like that intrigue me. But all in all Superman Returns was a horrible let down. Maybe this'll be an improvement.

Well, a lot of Kryptonite came down with Kal-El when he crashed on Earth, so maybe Lex could replicate Kryptonite, but I'm not sure. You make a good point. I definitely don't want Superman to seem unstoppable in this film. He needs a villain who will challenge him physically. Someone like Darkseid, Doomsday, or Brainiac. Doomsday actually "killed" Superman, so there you go. But that's probably not the best way to start off a possible franchise. :P But I think people are pretty tired of Lex Luthor. He can be in the movie, but make him be pulling the strings of everything. I guess they could make him a physical opponent, if you give him that tech-suit, but yeah.
