Sonic Blast Grand Tournament 4: Winter's Thaw, Shock and Awe Brought to you by Blizshadow, Pheonix-Saturn, and Talancir D'Landior Signups is now open. Applications will be approved in the order they are posted. We currently have a maximum cap of 20 signups. based on interest, we may allow more applications. Rules and tournament structure will be made available as soon as the signups are finalized. Sign up your fan characters and battle for the title! The last tournament was shrouded in mystery. The contestants, once they were suddenly back from the dimension in which the tourney was conducted, dispersed to whence they came. Nought but hooded eyes and hushed whispers were traded for intent and worried questioning. All fled, except for one stoic, silent figure, and his friend. Clad in bloody, archaic silver and grey armour, with an ornate sword and shield on his back, he stared out into the distant sunset, a small frown on his cut, bloody lips, and an unreadable expression in his deep, brown eyes. The only response to questions came from the armoured figure's companion, who brandished his weapons as an emphasis to his demands for privacy. Finally, the armoured figure grunted, parting his cracked lips to bare his grinning, bloody teeth to the sun just before it dipped before the horizon. "Milord?" "....Heh. 'Twas fun, but 'twas a bit too bloody.... bah. 'Ell wi' it. Oi've plannin' ta do..." It was a better part of a year before the time came 'round again. The news broadcasts gave mention of a widespread advertisement stuck to every message board, bus and train station, and slipped under the door of every residence in your neighborhood. The leaflet, finely decorated, spoke of a new tournament, administered under new leadership, requesting as many able-bodied fighters as could be spared. It gave the promise of a noble endeavour, declaring glory for the winner, and a chance to claim the title of the SB Grand Champion, the best of all the fighters from the tournaments that had come and gone... Please fill this in completely, then post your character application into this thread. Name: Gender: Age: Physical and mental ages are separate, if you please. there are plenty of peeps out there who, by virtue of their background, are either older or younger than they appear. keep in mind that your knowledge could or could not be determined according to what you have experienced. Be believable. Species: ~This again limits your natural abilities to a degree. Bats can fly, echidnas are strong (for the most part) and can dig, bunnies can jump high... be creative, but reasonable (after all, not all hedgehogs are speedsters y’know). Appearance: ~What sort of clothing is your character wearing? What colour fur do they have? Are they wearing armor? Wherabouts does their weaponry sit on their person? (A good picture can also suffice.) Personality and Battle Psychology: ~Your character’s tactics or lack thereof; generally speaking, how do they fight? Do they keep their distance or do they prefer the adrenal surge of melee combat? Are they a defensive opportunity-seeker or are they a berserker who just keeps hacking away at all times? Do they use sneaky tricks or flamboyant feats of swashbuckling? Keep it brief; a basic idea is good enough. Skills: ~You may have up to four slots denoting attributes and/or moves. To clarify; whereas attributes are passive enhancements, moves are active actions/attacks that are pre-set, that once executed take off that little bit more damage (or perhaps have other effects that aren’t damage-dealing…). You have four slots by which you can destribute your attributes and moves. You can have all four as attributes, or all four as moves, or mix it up. Example, you could be a great swordsman, and then create three awesome moves. Again, try to be creative here; fireballs may be fun, but they’re done to death. Finally, include no more than two paragraphs in this section, describing your fighting style (optional, but encouraged).
Equipment: ~Up to four primary items, along with whatever secondary items (ammunition / foci) needed to use the primary items, may be carried into the arena. You are limited according to what your character can carry; a bag of variable dimensions is not allowed. How many you can use inside the arena isn't limited - this includes stealing your opponents (you don't get to keep them for the next round, however). This includes weaponry. As far as projectile weapons go, the limit is one gun, crossbow, or whatever per character, and they will be semi-automatic. The inclination this tournament is on mixed styles; gunmen / archers / magic users are encouraged to know something about melee combat. Strengths: ~What is your character good at? List three maximum plus points to your character - for example, they can read the situation in battle easily due to the vast amount of experience they have, or that they're really paranoid and as such are always on their toes watching out for trouble? you are not required to have three, but it would help to have an edge. Weaknesses: ~Exactly the opposite. List three minimum minus points that can make your character a little flawed, example a fear of spiders, is unable to use anything other than a sword, can't fist-fight for crap, gets too pumped of adrenaline to focus on the trap his opponent's set... lots to choose from. And YES you have to take three at the least or you will be asked to revise immediately. Also, make them combat-related.
You ARE allowed magic, so long as it isn't too powerful. If it's more powerful than a simple chant/incantation, you'll need to take a turn to power it up before releasing it. The plus side to this is you're going to hurt your opponent badly if you connect. The bad side is they'll have enough time to dodge or prepare for the hit, or worse still - counter attack. The same stuff applies to powers like fire control, magnetism, telepathy, etc etc; the more complex and powerful it is, the more CHARGIN’ it needs before you start FIRIN’. Signup list: Approved:

*ahem* FIIIIIIIIIIIIIRST. That aside, Name:Garret Ranson Gender:Male Age: Both physically and mentally 16. Species: Brown Bear. Appearance: Personality and Battle Psychology: Garret is a very gifted inventor, though he does not really "invent" per say. he tends to take pre-assembled objects and rearrange them into new things. one might call him a Tinker. he is generally nice to be around, he like to make small-talk , but doesn't like drawn-out conversations. He is a bit impatient, and tends to get bored easily. He's a nervous fighter, always aware of his surroundings, and yet at the same time paranoid that he isn't aware enough. He tends to stay far away from the opponent, and likes ranged fighting. If the time should come when he runs out of ammo for ranged attacks. He sort of "gives up" in the sense that he decides to attack with all his might having no thought of the physical consequences he may inflict on himself. Skills/Moves:
Equipment: - Model 3 "CLICK" Gun:A gun invented by garret. Has four settings, two of which will be used in the tournament. ---fuel for 5 minutes of Flame ---4 rounds of Rapid bullets, each with enough for 30 sec. consecutive shooting. -Resonant bracelet: See attack above. Can also be used to guard against attacks on extremely luck occasions. Strengths: -Paranoid of enemies that hide, thus always on guard and looking around. -Has a reasonable aim, above the level of a novice, and below the level of a master gusman. -Can use his surroundings to his advantage. (See Ingenious Design) Weaknesses: -Deathly afraid of getting hit, tends to dodge more than attack. -Not good with melee attacks, relies mostly on ranged weaponry. -Gets increasingly nervous the longer the battle takes. |

W00t, I am also first, in a way. You've got a nice character going on there, Pigmask. Nothing really offensive, although I do want to get Talancir's word on how he wants to handle firearms. He was tossing around the idea of a limit, and I just want confirmation on a few things with him first-- T'is his tournament after all. Not to discourage you, of course. x3;; Also, another thing about your rapid fire setting. You say each bullet has a 4% chance of hitting, but a maximum fire of 20 rounds will give you an 80% chance. I'm no math genius, but I'm relatively sure that this isn't how chance is calculated. You wouldn't add the percentages up like that in trying to determine how one item out of a group would fall, in this case, the chance of a bullet hitting someone. Name: Mevnomba Dondred, AKA Ven Gender: Male Age: 90 or more, looks to be about 22-25 Species: Vampire Meerkat Appearance: See here Personality: Despite his evil or mean look, Mevin is actually kind at heart. However, there is a hard and very tough shell covering and guarding his warm and soft heart. He is proper, or at least tries to be, slightly well mannered but has lost some of his mannerism do to his past. He doesn't normally anger easily, but on cretin topics he'll lose it and go crazy. Battle Psychology: He has a very different way of fighting. The fact that he his agile allows him to move oddly and rapidly. He normally waits for his opponent to attack, seeing as he is better at countering then actually fighting. Most of his fighting his based off of reflexes. Skills: - Wind Bending: He can create and control wind, but can only use it to push, throw, pull, and sometimes use it as a means of moving himself around. Having said this, he moves a lot quicker going in the wind's directions. He can only create massive amounts of 'wind energy' during the night. During the day time, he can only use his wind element to move a bit quicker or avoid/dodge attacks. - Night Eyes: His eyes are very sharp in the dark. He can see in the dark as if it was day time, practically. However, his seeing isn't so good during the day time. He isn't blind when the sun is out, he just can't see as well as others. Equipment: - Sunglasses, helps him see better during the day - Nanobot sword named Lunar: Moon Blade - this nanobot turns into a sword. Sword Attacks: - Waning Moon: Sword Spirit attack that cuts forward like a moon crescent at night, knocks the foe backwards. Depending how close they are to Ven will determine how far they are pushed thrown back. 1 foot away = 9 feet - Thunderous Three: Strikes three times in a matter of seconds, making it seem like three swords attacking at once. Speed is high, damage is low, may cause body part to be paralyzed for 30-seconds to a minuet(25-30% chance). Repeated stabs to that part lengthens the duration of paralyzing by 30 seconds. Accuracy = 85% from a foot away. Strengths: - He is great at countering his foe and has great reflex skills and timing - His ability to see in the dark gives him a great advantage when set in a dark area - He power with controlling wind is a major plus, allowing him to do more then just use his fist/claws when not equipped with his swords. Weaknesses: - Because he counters so much, he rarely attacks on his own. As well, when trying to attack head on with his foe, he normally takes a lot damage because he can't read into their attacks if he is the one attacking. - Seeing in the dark is a huge plus, but having a bit of trouble seeing in day light is troublesome, even more so when in a fight. Sure, he has sunglasses, but once they come off, he'd want to run and fight in the shade. - Although he can create and control wind, its not like it's a weapon he could use to cut down his enemy. As well, his wind element powers are stronger during the night time. As well, depending on the wind around him will determine how strong his ' wind attacks' will. (I think I went crazy on this one. I thought I'd put more effort into this instead of just posting a character and fleeing. Other wise I would of been first! If I need some changing to do, or some restrictions, let me know.)

Name. Shanui Reefthorn Gender. Male Age. 25 Species. Raptor, (Velociraptor) ------ Appearance. Height. 3.4 Feet Length. 5.7 feet, (from nose, to the tip of his tail.) Skin colour is bluish with a small tint of brown/yellow making him quite the colourful character, as with his white/greyish underbelly and yellow/orange sparkling eyes. Small patterns of fur at the back of his head, and in front of his knee's, following down his back, are small knotted half-ball formed, as if some form of extra protection. Clothes varies from different events. His battle suit, so to called is a black hooded robe, but it's only a reflection sort-of-speak. (Preferable used to hide his true identity until the battle commence between the two rivals. Below he wears a red shirt, with a crest of his heirloom in form of a crown, torn to shreds by a sword. As for bottoms, he carries black loose trousers, made from his own unusual talent. Personality. Rather alone, Shanui tends to live under complete silence. Have often made it out as the tactician when it comes to read the battle situation, often choosing the defensive approach before any form of offensive. Nor does he ever retreat, even if he knows it would be his final moment to catch some fresh air. -------- Skills. - Dragon Breathe. Spoiler: click to toggle - Summon Thy Blade. Spoiler: click to toggle Twisting Blade. Spoiler: click to toggle Powerful Jaws Spoiler: click to toggle Equipment. - Blade of Reefthorn Elders. Known to have a secretive second blade, that will fold out, only after a specifically move has been performed. (Listed above.) It's rather pointy edges, with three small rifts, as to form a more cool looking blade. It's been carried onward for centuries. - 2 Magazines to his mod38Magnum (Each magazine have 5 bullets in each. The chance of success is 75%. He's not the most accurate shooter with the small firearms. He'd rather prefer the snipers. - 1 Smoke Grenades (It only means a blurry vision for them both really. A chance to escape perhaps from a difficult situation.) Strengths. - Able to quickly sweep back and forth between medium/long range to melee. - He's known to be a defensive tactician. Learning the moves, before looking to out-manoeuvre them. - Fast and Agile as his ancestors. Weaknesses. - Without his sword, he can't perform numerous of skills. Remove it from him, and he'll run around snatching after you with it's teeth. - Without food, he cannot breathe his ache, and instead look like some awful pig. You can practically strike him where he stands, if you ain't wanting to laugh at his idiocy. - He's only a natural creature, meaning that fire, wind, earth, water (the four elements) and physical weapons. But he's more vulnerable to water. Even more, if he receive any water contact with his eyes. He's practically blind for a few seconds. This also includes dust, and all things that could weaken his sight of view. -------- Now if you need the percentage of the moves chance to hit. Lemme know, and I'll easily fix this. I just assume it's simply easy enough to understand, but that's entirely my own view. And I'm not the judge here. Edit... Fixed. Noticed how things was above. Name: Kenji Bushido Gender: Male Age: 16 (both) Species: Cat APPEARANCE General: Rough black fur, has his left ear torn up a bit, white underbelly, muzzle is slightly tan, Thick, shaggy black hair that goes down to his thin but long black eye brows Height: 4 Feet Weight: 8.2 stone (114.8 pounds) Outfit: Baggy black cargo pants that ends are tied at ankles for maneuverability, no shirt, bandages rapped around his palms evenly, a light gray Japanese-like headband with long ends on his forehead under his hair Personality: Kenji is known for his blunt aggressiveness, but his ruthlessness has never hampered his sword-fighting skills and the years upon years of training, shown in his accuracy. He is not afraid of death because of his death-filled past involving his family many years ago, a time he wishes to not remember; he will risk his last breath for victory. Detrimentally, he tends to get his feelings in the way of straight thinking, and thus his forum begins to gets sloppy in replacement for the need to eliminate his opponent. If on the defensive, Kenji uses every opportunity to strike at his opponent. If he cant get a killing blow, he goes for a low blow to set things even. NOTE: Most hits come in a barrage, so most aim for a 25-50% chance of successful contact. No Skills Equipment: One 40' Katana "The Light Lynx", chrome white with black handle and lacing's and a 52" Nodachi "The Black Cat", charcoal Black Chrome with white handle and lacings. Both sheaths located on left side, hooked on a belt hoop. Strengths: -His ruthless aggressiveness is matched with his forum during a regular state of battle. -Flexibility allows rather unusual counter's to moves, thus catching his opponent(s) off guard. -As a Kamikaze-style combo's; relentlessness and ruthlessness added up with good forum and superb technique Weaknesses: -Tends to get distracted from stuff outside of fight -Feelings become detrimental during fights -show's mercy FAR too often Edited by Silv™, Jan 26 2011, 03:01 PM.

Edited my post. More like took some things out. Now, here is what I did. I took out the high senses stuff(thinking I HAD to have four skills) and they didn't really help at all actually. As well, I took out two moves from the 3rd stage of the Trampling Swords, that way it will still be four in total. Let me explain a bit. The Trampling Swords in a move that changes the sword's move. It doesn't add more moves, seeing as Ven can only preform the set moves while he is holding onto the weapon. Each time he grabs another sword, his second move changes according to said sword.(Or have no moves at all, as seen in the 1st Stage.) I hope this makes sense, but if its still not to your liking, I'll think of someway to change it, or better explain it. Edited by L Dragon, Jan 15 2011, 12:52 PM.

Shoulder holster worn underneath the suit jacket with the holster on the left and an ammo pouch on the right. Personality and Battle Psychology: Alex loves to be in the heat of battle. He'd rather rush forward and face the enemy head on with his bare fists than stand back with a ranged weapon. Nevertheless, due to his lack of armour of any type, he often uses his gun to avoid injuries. He may forgo this caution if he gets angry enough. Skills: Pyrokinesis Moves: Burning Bales You have a gun for a reason... Equipment: -S&W M629 Stealth Hunter --18 .44 magnum rounds. 6 loaded and 12 in reserve. --2 speedloaders with his spare ammo Strengths: -Due to his expertise with pyrokinesis, he is impervious to heat and flames. -His complete lack of remorse allows him to finish his opponents without hesitation. -His larger size often gives him an edge against smaller opponents. Weaknesses: -He gets angrier as the fight goes on and will abandon caution after a while. -Due to his lack of armour, any solid hit will hurt him greatly. -He isn't a planner and often gets himself in bad situations because of his lack of forethought. |

Name: Nick Gladyss Gender: Male Age: Physically: 16 Mentally: 14 Species: Red Fox Appearance: obviously his fur color is red, has a patch of fur removed from the back of his neck. His fur is fairly short, 2 inches or so. He’s sturdy and has medium build. His average height is about 5 feet total, so very short for his age. Attire: An older looking green overcoat that has soot on it, making it look a little spotted. Gray sweatpants that are ripped at the bottom so you’re able to see little parts of his ankles. The sweatpants are fairly clean but have soot at the very top of them from the soot on his overcoat. He also wears a golden chain that is shining as if he had just bought it recently. The chain is carrying a rather odd looking Maria/ 9mm Pistol that’s butt is fairly busted up from slamming it into the sides of people's head's. So naturally the butt of the gun also has faint blood stains. The Maria/ 9mm Pistol also is carrying a combat knife with a makeshift Hollister plastered to the side of it. He wears a black tank top with soot on it EVERYWHERE but is fairly unnoticeable because it is black. The tank top also has little rips in it everywhere. He is also wearing a fairly new looking black baseball cap with a big bold N plastered to the front of it. His ears are sticking out rips in the cap so you’re barely able to see them. His tail is fairly short, but also extremely shaggy because his body refuses to shed. (Again if you need it lengthened or need a question answered pm me.) Personality and Battle Psychology: He hates when he has to kill an enemy in battle, he would prefer to just leave his enemies where they lay begging for mercy than kill them. His battle tactics are simple strike first, strike hard. Moves: -Sharpshooter Maneuver Type: Weapon Oriented Additional Advantage: It should knock the back his enemy and deal a considerable amount of damage. (The move is more powerful the closer he is to his enemy.) Accuracy Rating: 30% or less Description: He shoots a maximum of 5 bullets at an enemy from a considerable ways away from them. If the distance is 3 miles or more away the bullet(s) will drop out of the sky while in air. Like stated before the less distance away the more powerful it is. If he has to shoot through glass the chance of hitting is decreased by 5%. If he has to shoot through a wall of any material (of course besides the transparent ones) the chance is decreased by 15%. This is melee of course so he has to be right next to the designated target for it to work. -Combat Knife stab Maneuver Type: Weapon oriented Additional Advantage: Stun them for a lesser amount of time. Accuracy Rating: 70% Description: He takes his combat knife and very simply stabs it in any designated area. This move can be used for more than melee though, for example he can stab it into a wall and use it to climb up onto an edge. . Equipment: Primary Items: Combat Knife, used for melee and other assorted uses. Maria/ 9mm Pistol, Used for sharp shooting and shooting in general. Also for pistol whipping his opponents. And has a white ivy design all over it. Smoke Grenades, He has only five, used primarily for evasion. Secondary: 9mm bullets, obviously shots for his pistol. He has only 30 bullets per match. (I’d like them to be restored each match please.) Strengths: 1.) Is powerful when it comes to melee, usually causing a considerable amount of damage. 2.) Has extremely keen eyesight, allowing him to sharp shoot his opponents without a scope. 3.)Being a fox, his speed is something to be considered, on average he can run 60 mph. Weaknesses: 1.) He has low stamina so he can only melee, and run every 10 minutes. 2.) He hates having to kill an opponent in battle; he would prefer to talk it out, than kill his enemy. Grey top with no sleeves, with black spike patterns, on the front. Brown holster on his back for his weapon Black fingerless gloves. Brown belt. Black trousers, with grey spike patterns, on the side of each leg. Grey boots Personality and Battle Psychology: Akashi keeps his cool and keep calm under pressure, he can be angered if something is too challenging or his opponent begins to annoy him. He starts with normal attacks sometimes combined with weapon attacks using his quickness to his advantage. If the fight is getting a bit challenging he will try to use sneak attacks. Very agile and is quick moving. Very focused in battle. Weaknesses: His ears are sensitive to really loud noises. He is easily angered, if something is to challenging.
