First of all, I gotta say what's up to you guys? My aunts PC was out for a while so I couldn't get on the internet, and that was some months ago, but I'm back now. Anyway, on with the topic:

Recently, someone has emailed me about how he heard about my ban from the hell hole: the Sega forums. A few PMs later about what was still going on, he said that people were displeased with modern fans. I never really got a answer on why but he did say this that modern fans were tools for buying "crap" from sega, even bigger tools then some self righteous group of old-school fans who spam them for liking games like Shadow the Hedgehog or the more infamous to the modern haters, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. So I get to thinking to myself, how are modern sonic fans tools? It just seems like that group of fans is being persecuted just for buying the games that other people didn't like. I mean, if you don't like sports games, then you would have to do the same to people who buy every NFL game that comes out, despite not being that much different then the last game.

Any thoughts from you guys?

X)

Well, MoD, -Eyes Heroes, 06, Colors and all the 8-bit games-

You got a damn straight point, and I'd say it's right on.

I consider myself to be an "Inbetweener". I have enjoyed most of the games (Although I still haven't beaten '06 the story is okay. Incredibly over exaggerated but okay nonetheless). I was glad when Colors came out. It was definitely a great game and well worth the extra time. Sonic 4 isn't bad. It's not nearly as good as the Classics but is still a good game. I think I still have a working Genesis and I still get it out and play it every now and then (I even do that with my N64).

I'm in the minority, but I love both classic and modern games. Sometimes it's not especially good, but generally I see enough good things in those games to like them. Sonic games are cool, and adding new things can be good. I know people who says ''If you played one Sonic game, you've played them all''. That's why there's always something new, to keep people entertained. It doesn't always work as much, but I still go over the flaws and have fun with the games I play. Even though they all have their flaws, they're good but we must not go too high about it. Sonic 1-3 & Knuckles? Excellent, I play them every once in a while. However, it's only for an hour, after I feel like doing something else. They are great games, but they certainly aren't perfect(in fact, everyone should know that no game is). Sonic Adventure 1-2? Loved them also, but some things like the shooting and fishing didn't attract me that much(personally, the thing I least enjoyed in the franchise is Big's fishing sessions). After I finished their levels I didn't play with them again. Despite that, I went over that and had a lot of fun. Sonic Heroes was also a nice game, the team gameplay, while not being the best thing ever made, kept me entertained as I tried to explore all the pathways opened for each formation. The only thing I wasn't found of was that every team does the same levels. Shadow the Hedgehog? I had fun with it too. The guns were optional most of the time(and where they weren't it was mostly that alien vacuum thing so I don't see the big deal)and the multiple stories, while being confusing, added a lot of replayability. That game was more serious but it did have some good levels(Westopolis, Digital Circuit, Lava Shelter and Cosmic Fall are the ones I had most fun doing, no matter if they were easy or hard). Sonic 06 did hit the franchise badly since they went out of time and stuff, but I played the game and I don't see it THAT bad. There must have been like 10 glitches I encountered in the whole game, the other 50 times I died was my fault, not the game's. I did heard about a lot of issues and all but most of them seems to only happen if you look for them. I don't do so, I play the game the way it's meant to and most things work well, especially the bosses, the only one I think they should fix is Silver. Mehpiles, Egg Wyvern and Solaris were good to me(especially Solaris, it was similar to the concept of Final Hazard except you had to charge your attack to hit him). A weird story for Sonic, but come on Mario saved the same princess for 25 years and he gets kissed each time so what if that happens to Sonic once? I'm not saying princess saving was great for Sonic, but it didn't bug me that much. Shadow's story was great, Mephiles was one of the best villains of this franchise. Some weren't found of the VA in this game(it wasn't great, but that didn't change the gameplay that much)but Dan Green did a very good performance for that guy. The way he laughed, speak, even the way he gestures was creepy and that's what made him good. Silver was slow but I liked the new concept of telekinetic powers. But what I really enjoyed most was Blaze the Cat. I didn't found a single glitch or anything with her, they seem to have worked on her parts more than the rest, and the gameplay itself was fun to me. Sonic Unleashed? One of my favorites, the Werehog was following the same idea as SA and SA2:multiple gameplays. I especially enjoyed the 360/ps3 version. I loved the day stages, the Werehog, while the fighting could be reptitive, had good platforming and some good moves(the Were-wheel Rush Y,Y,Y,Y,X,X,X,X felt very inspired). What I also liked was that the alternate pathways felt more alternate than before. In most 3d games, it barely changed anything to the challenge or layout, you were back at the same spot very quickly(not that it was always like that of course), Unleashed had layouts that could really change the obstacles, like the classic games(the beginning of Eggmanland is a good example. If you take the rail path in the air, you risk falling and dying but you'll reach the first Werehog section in a minute. If you take the bottom path, you will take a much longer path with a lot platforming that takes me 3 minutes to reach the Werehog part)and I liked the challenge from the last levels. Egg Dragoon, while being easy, was epic and Dark Gaia was a good final boss(I don't care if it's a monster of the week or Eggman as long as it's challenging). The thing I really didn't like is the medal collecting to advance in the story. They added exploration in the levels, but I think they should have unlocked extras like on Wii/ps2. Sonic Colors? Very good level design with multiple paths, getting every red medal wasn't easy. The wisp power-ups was a nice idea too. The story did feel a bit too cheesy and had too many jokes, but it's still alright. Some levels didn't feel to have been worked on that much though, some could be finished in 1 minute(unless you're looking for the medals, but generally some felt too short). My main regret is that the game is too short(finished every level in 2 hours)and the lack of difficulty. Other than the medals, the game wasn't what I'd call hard, especially the bosses. They were cool and everything, but they were so easy to avoid and attack that didn't felt right(I know most Sonic games didn't have hard bosses but they really are too easy in this one, even the last boss while being great wasn't that much of a challenge). This game was made for kids though so I can understand.
This is my personal opinion, I don't really see any game as bad(though I admit 06 being rushed would make it a bad game)since I have fun with them. They are different, but still stick to what I like from Sonic:speed, platform and the cool levels. Sonic didn't became a freaking FPS(even Shadow the Hedgehog didn't felt like a FPS at all), it's still about the same type of ideas, just executed differently. I know a lot of people from this fanbase will consider me as a retard for liking the modern games but this is my sincere opinion(I did play more Sonic games than that, I just listed a few). I like Sonic games, not because it has Sonic written on the box but for those things I like that I mentioned. This is my personal opinion, and I respect anyone who doesn't share the same thoughts about those games. All I expect in return is for these people to do the same toward me. I'm very looking forward to Generations since I'm not one of those who believes in Sonic Cycle or call the games shit for one trivial thing. I'll get to enjoy 2 gameplays that I love in nostalgia-filled levels, so I'm gonna try it out.
So I personally don't see myself as a tool of any sort. A tool is someone you use for yourself, even if the person doesn't want to. I am not forced to buy these games. I give Sega money, but that doesn't make me a tool since I am one of their satisfied customers.

I agree with what Glassguy said and wow what a time I had reading it lol. I tend to look at the good things in every sonic game, My fav Retro sonic game was Sonic 3 & knuckles and my fav modern was Unleashed. I am eagerly looking forward to Generations tho for both Gameplays.

Some people seem to be speculating that the retro side or the modern side or both are full of people who love to find flaws the other games. It just dawned on me that I was completely cut off from the Sonic fanbase when I bought Sonic Heroes, yet I still was disappointed in it. The negativity of the fanbase comes with good reason, it's just that some people take it a bit too far. The fact that people even find classic Sonic and modern Sonic different characters is proof of this.

Also, see how far the idea that people hate for no good reason gets you in a reasonable debate. To take that further, see how it works when you even use the word 'hate'.
Also, even though Sonic's model in the GCN version of the Adventure series is modern looking, SEGA did remake City Escape, so I say Adventure is the bridge between modern and classic, and therefore should be called neither. Alternatively, I'd like it to be classic.

If that were to be the case, than call me classic Sonic fan all the way. XD

I always considered myself, as Star called it, an Inbetweener. There are some issues here and there I have with both, and yet I still find more reasons to love em. Can't say which I lean more towards though. All in all, I try not to whine that much about the things I find to dislike in the old and new games. I don't really like to sound like everyone else.
Where the hell is Final Fantasy X HD?!

well i for one dont see the classic and modern games in the same light i mean think about if i want a quick super exciting game i play the classic games because there is nothing like rushing through like a bat out of hell collecting rings and destroying everything in my way but if i want to sit back relax and get into the story of a game i always go with modern games there entertaining and have their own challenges its not just rushing through a level super fast but for the people who just all out bash all modern fans are just well........ total dicks i see the value in classic games but no way in hell do i believe modern games should be scrapped
Have fun storming the castle!!!
