((Fair warning- I start out rambly but tend to cut my posts later on. |3)) It was all sea. Sea as far as the eye could see. The sun beat down relentlessly and the strong breezes carried this sort of salty smell. Yet Cree wouldn't give up. The young Trainer continuously rode her Kingdra under the sun, constantly looking at her Pokegear, then back at her surroundings. "They're here, Poseidon!" she brimmed, half annoyed and half amused. The heat was awful, but it had been weeks since she had been so close to her targets. "Just a little more..." The Kingdra continued swimming calmly. The fresh water helped him with the heat, and he was so used to his Trainer's determination, the Pokemon had pretty much grown to like it. He suddenly stopped and sharpened his glare. "King." Just then, Cree's Pokegear started beeping rapidly. Her heart started beating just as quickly and a huge smile drew on her lips. She took out a Great Ball and withdrew her arm, then threw it forward as fast as possible. "OK, Celeste," she called out. "Heat Wave, on the double!" Out the capsule came an Altaria. Without losing a single vital second, the Pokemon followed her Trainer's commands and flapped her wings as they began to gain a vivid vermillion color. A sudden gust of seemingly flaming wind quicked up and brushed the surface of the sea. Two red shadows glowed bright red in the midst of the Attack, soon revealed as the twin dragons, Latios and Latias. Celeste's attack came to a finish, only for Latias to perform a colorful Dragon Breath which hit the Altaria with flawless precision. "Quick, Poseidon, Hydro Pump!" she commanded and the blue dragon shot a powerful stream of water towards the attacker. Unfortunately, Latios was not ready to leave it all in his sister's claws and flew in. Covered by a Protect barrier, he shielded both himself and Latias from the attack. The exchange having finished, the twins blasted off at inmense speed in attempt to flee the Trainer and her dragons, not that was going to sit with Cree. Gripping Poseidon's horns firmly, she leaned forward and yelled, "After them!" In a snap, Poseidon and Celeste started giving quick chase to the runaway Legends. After having covered a couple of miles, the small crusade was catching up to Latios and Latias, when suddenly the two lead them into a fast current area. "Whoa!" the girl yelled in dismay as her Pokemon lost control of its speed in the torrent. The fleeing dragons soon vanished from sight and Cree was headed towards massive whirlpools surrounded by large, formidable boulders. "Use Iron Head!" she ordered. The Kingdra did as ins tructed and began bashing the rocks that it couldn't dodge. Some of the scattered peices were hit at such velocity, they were thrust into the air. Still conscious of her Altaria, Cree looked back and yelled, "Celeste, use Iron Tails to defend yourself!" "Alt!" although the aerial dragon did as she instructed, one of the rocks still managed to hit her in the wing. "No, return!" Cree yelled as she called back Celeste into her Pokeball before it was too late. "King, Kingdra!" Poseidon warned. His Trainer turned back and noticed how it was too late to escape the whirlpool's pull. "Wait, maybe I can- aaaahhhhh!" she yelled as they were finally sucked in. ((I'll leave it there before I can't stop myself. >_>)) |

Lava Reef Act 1
|
On a beach not too far from where the whirlpool was located, a short, pale-skinned girl with ivory hair, named Wight, was sitting on her towel on the sand, wrapping her hands around her legs with her knees up to her face, wearing a bored and quite annoyed expression. She was used to dark places like caves and relics, and thought that she might like relaxing in the sun for a change. She didn't like it. At all. And neither did her Pokemon. Her Banette, Shadow, was taking refuge in the shade underneath the girl's towel. Wisp, her Gastly that seemed to be imbued in white flames instead of gas, watched as its partner, a Dusknoir known as Darkness, was making pictures in the hand with his finger, and Wight's Lamplar, Candlight, was simply hanging in air, as if it were suspended from an invisible wire that kept on swinging slowly form side to side. "I'm bored..." Wight said quietly to herself, and stood up. "Maybe I'll go swimming..." Wight had not gone swimming many times before, but she definitely knew how to. Her Pokemon looked up at her, staring as if to say, "Are you serious?" The girl walked off into the sea, and her Pokemon decided to follow her. As Wight walked, she looked around her at all the people happily enjoying their time on the beach. There was a little boy chasing his Marill along the edge of the water, a lady sunbathing while her Masquerain drank from a bowl of water. There was even some people playing volleyball with their Pokemon. They looked like they were having fun, and as Wight reached the edge of the water she said to herself, "...I wish I had a water Pokemon..." She shrugged, and walked into the water while her Pokemon floated behind her. It was warm, and the sand beneath felt very soft. After a while, she got in completely and started swimming off into the horizon... and didn't stop... |

Latios and Latias continued flying over the sea despite having escaped successfully. They were still worried the Trainer was still on their trail. Up ahead was a beach, and the two Pokemon headed towards it. At the sight of humans there, however, they reflected the light of their feathers and used their powers to turn invisible. Latios took a harsh turn and his siter followed. The velocity caused quite a stream of water pull up, potentially soaking swimmers who were swimming a bit far from the shore more than they already were. They both sped up in a different direction, towards a cove known for its numerous tunnels and caves. Some of the people in the beach began murmuring about the sudden 'wave' as well as the strong wind that followed, but they shrugged it off as nothing. Meanwhile, Cree tried to hold on to Poseidon with all of her strengths, but the tide was too powerful. Before long, she lost all of her air and began drowning. Desperate to save his Trainer from dying, the Kingdra tried to fight the current, but found itself struggling for nothing. After a couple of minutes, it caught side of an underwater tunnel. The Pokemon figured it better than staying in the current and hoped for a way back to the surface. With more and more effort, it managed to swim into the gap. A gentler current gave a light tuck in. Before long, it took control of its speed once again and charged forward. At the end, it reached a huge space with placid water. He swam up. A cave. It was dark, but at least there was air. Cree coughed a couple of times, then took a deep breath. "Sweet... air..." she gasped. She then took out her Pokegear and looked at the screen. luckily the internal lighting on the device allowed her to read off the screen. "They passed through this area... but... where are we?" Fiddling a little with the device, a map was suddenly shown on the small screen. "A cave right next to a... a beach?!" the girl moaned lightly and planted her disappointed face atop the Kingdra's head. "That's too populated! They must be miles and miles and miles away from here now!" she pulled herself back up and kept toying with the Pokegear. "If I had ordered you to use Ice Beam instead of Hydro Pump, we may have gotten a better result. But I was so nervous they'd fly away, that was the first attack that came into mind! And... and..." She sighed then patted Poseidon with a more calm smile. "Thanks for getting me out of there, buddy." "King, King," the Pokemon replied delighted. "Now let's see if we can get out of this maze..." she said as she held on to his horns once again and he calmly swam ahead. |

Wight looked back behind her. She was pretty far from the shore. It would take a while for her to swim back. She decided to look around her. Other than the beach, she saw nothing but water. "Maybe... There's something beneath the surface..." Wight took a deep breath and submerged into the water. As she looked around, she saw something that looked like the entrance to a cave. She loved caves. They were so dark and mysterious... Without thinking, Wight started swimming towards the entrance. Reluctant, her Pokemon followed. Wight kept swimming deeper and deeper into the cave. She was hoping she'd reach some kind of surface soon, but the tunnel kept going. She was starting to run out of air. She swam faster and faster, when suddenly, she saw something that looked like an opening. As she drifted to the opening, however, she scraped her leg on a sharp rock. Ouch... As she got out, she looked at the wound on her right thigh. It was deeper than she thought it would be... But she decided to ignore it and looked around, but she couldn't see anything. "Candlight?" she said. Candlight, however, got some water inside its lamp and lost her light. She tried getting the water out and relighting her fire, but to no avail. Wisp and also become nothing more than just a black floating ball with a face. Darkness spat out some water that got into the mouth on its torso, and Shadow just floated there, snickering, as he simply moved across the shadows of the tunnel wall, and came out without a drop on him. Candlight was finally able to reignite herself, and the cave became dimply lit. Holding the wound on her leg, Wight began exploring. |

"OK, OK," Cree started, her eyes not moving from the Pokegear's screen. "According to this... hlaf the tunnel system is sumerged in water, another half is just a tunnel made out of rocks, ground and practically your usual cave minerals." Poseidon kept swimming ahead, as it had back in the open sea before Latias and Latios appeared. He was quite used to swimming while Cree talked to him about all sorts of things. Though she constantly blabbered about their location, she rarely ever gave him directions. She normally trusted his instincts, but the Pokemon wasn't so sure of his instincts anymore. "Aha!" she yelled victoriously. "Near the beach's shore, underwater is an entrance. That netrance is part of the intersection between the watery area of the cave and the steady ground road!" Poseidon stopped and Cree finally turned away from the device, not being able to ignore how the rocking of Poseidon's tranquil swimming stopped. In front of them were eight different entries, all equally dark inside. "Uh... let's see..." she closed her eyes and twirled her finger in the air before pointing at one of the entrances randomly. "Try that one." Poseidon took the route his Trainer pointed and swam in. It was pitch black for a while when suddenly another powerful current dragged him in. "King King King!" "Another strong current?!" They both sped out of control down the tunnel. The current was taking them downward and soon enough they were once more underwater. The water kept pushing them forward and all of a sudden, they were being thrust upward. A sudden plunge followed and when both Trainer and Pokemon opened their eyes, they were in a large, opened space filled with water. Poseidon swam up swiftly. Cree gasped and blinked. "We're back where we started!" she yelled in disbelief. "Aww... l-let's try again!" Despite being shaky from the experience, she encouraged Poseidon to go in the same direction as before. As usual, she just kept rambling as he swam. "OK, OK," she said, "so many of those tunnels probably lead back here. But there were no other way, so at least one of those tunnels should lead elsewhere. They returned to the massive fork and Poseidon waited for instrunctions. "Now... which one did we took last time?" Cree pondered for a while but then shrugged. "Oh well, it's a, uh... twenty-five... point five... four... A 12.5% chance we end up choosing the same entry again." "King, King" Poseidon agreed with a nod. "So let's start with the one at the far left." |

The yelling could be heard throughout the tunnels, and it caught Wight's ear. Shocked by the fact that someone else was here, she ordered Shadow to go and investigate. As he swam in the shadows along the wall of the cave in the darkness, he came across a girl riding a Kingdra. The girl was rambling, and it seemed to Shadow like the two had been in that exact spot not too long ago. She said something about choosing a different entrance, and went into the tunnel leading to Wight. Back where the rest of the party were, Shadow made plenty of crazy body gestures pointing to the tunnel, trying to tell them that a strange individual was heading towards them. "Right," Wight said, understanding Shadow's insane body language. She had a lot of experience with this crazy Pokemon, so she was pretty uch able to understand anything he tried to tell her. "Darkness?" Darkness nodded and he reached inside his mouth, searching for something. He kept rattling his arm inside himself, when suddenly an accomplished look struck his face, and he pulled out a stone. A stone that seemed to glow pitch-black: A Dusk Stone. Darkness threw the Stone over to Wight, and she tossed it in her hands. She waited at the edge of the water, waiting for her company to arrive. Edited by Tammy, Dec 31 2010, 02:43 PM.

"Whoooooooaaaaaaaaa!" Cree screamed at the top of her lungs as she and Poseidon were once again pulled by an insane current. This time, however, they were thrown into a tranquil pool of water without turning of any kind. Poseidon surfaced. The area was much more narrow than the last place. "Seems like we're finally getting somewhere, Poseidon!" she cheered. The Kingdra nodded and continued swimming forward, not that there were many directions to choose from. The passage seemed to get darker and darker the further in they went. Though just a little up ahead was a very dim light, right around the corner. "The exit?" Cree assumed. "Wow, that was fast!" Poseidon halt and reamined still. "What's wrong, sweetie?" she asked as she rubbed the side of his head. "Dra!" he alarmed in a hush tone. "Odd presence?" she guessed correctly. Her friends and family always scratched their heads at this. Cree always managed to guess at first instance what her Pokemon were often trying to tell her, but she always held that a good Trainer is that who can understand their Pokemon regardless of language barrier. They both remained quiet and after a brief moment, she carefully patted him. She pressed her index finger against her lips, meaning to keep quiet, then waved in the direction they were heading. Poseidon nodded and slowly continued swimming in the same direction as before, careful at who they'd run into. |

Wight could hear the sound of moving water coming toward her. She gripped the Dusk Stone in her hand, trying to ignore the pain of her right leg. She turned to Shadow, and told him to check things out once again. Shadow went along the narrow tunnel again, and saw the girl and her Kingdra swimming directly toward the party. Ready to pop out and attack at any time, the Banette slowly crept along the shadows, following the two. |

((6,000th post get)) Cree and Poseidon were reaching the corner now. The girl knew by the way her Dragon kept leaning forward, as if ready to attack, that there were indeed some potential enemies ahead. She held on tighter to his horn with her left hand and stretched her right hand to her belt. She took a Poke Ball into her hand. Poseidon kept leaning more and more ahead, sharpening its gaze. The dim light drew closer and finally, it was there. It's now or never! Cree thought, and Poseidon turned at the corner. |

Shadow could sense the Kingdra's readiness to attack. He thought that they knew about Wight's presence, and were ready to attack. It wanted to lunge out and strike, but it knew not to make such crazy assumptions. It kept following them, waiting for the Pokemon ot the trainer to make a move. As they were getting closer, Wight tried to get a better view by inching her way more and more toward the water, but then, she lost her footing on a slippery rock and she fell in the water, scraping the wound on her leg as she fell in. "GAAAAAAAH!!" She screamed in pain. She had never screamed in her life until now. Luckily, the water was only about a foot deep where she fell in, because she couldn't move at all. The pain was too much to ignore now. She held her would tightly and the blood flowed into the salt water as a few tears escaped her eyes, and she was trying to to scream again. Cree and Poseidon had reached the corner. "GAAAAAAAH!!" A young girl seemed to scream. This startled the Kingdra, who in an attempt to protect himself and his partner from potential danger thrust backward and inhaled deeply, ready to launch his Hydro Pump. Cree, startled as well by the sudden scream, had held on tight to her Pokemon. However, Candlight's dim light allowed the Dragon Trainer to spot the girl's bleeding wound. Quickly reaching Poseidon's snout, she yelled, "Stop, don't!" The Kingdra exhaled, but nothing happened, having heed his Trainer's warning on time. She jumped off his back and into the water and moved towards the pale girl. Walking towards her with cautious discretion, she slowly placed a hand over her shoulder. "What happened?" |

Wight struggled to speak without her voice breaking, for this was one of the extremely rare occasions where she was on the verge on crying. "I... I..." But Shadow, not recognizing that the girl had no intention of hurting his master, misunderstood the Kingdra's startled response and thought that it was an attack stopped short. At this point, he jumped out of the shadows and lunged at the Kingdra, ready to throw a Sucker Punch at it. |

Cree thought she heard something strange. Turning her head back, she spotted the Banette attacking Poseidon. "Into the water, boy!" she commanded. The Kingdra looked at her confused. It wasn't until Shadow was an arm's length away from him that he understood the situation. He dove right into the water and swam a couple of feet away from the location. "I can't help you if your Pokemon are going to attack me," Cree wuickly added as she turned back to Wight. "Tell them to stop right now and I'll do my best to get you some help." In case the girl refused to stop her Pokemon's attack, Cree reached her belt and rested the palm of her hand one of her Pokeballs. "I'll fight if that's your only intention but if you really want my help, you need to let me help." |

"S... Sto..." Wight tried to give out a command for Shadow to stop, but the words just couldn't come out. She was in too much pain. She didn't want help, but she knew she needed it. It was time for her Pokemon to take action. As Shadow looked around for Poseidon, Darkness came out and told his partner to stop. Shadow, however, was in too much of a rage to listen to reason, and was ready to beat the stuffing out of that Kingdra. The more Darkness tried to reason with him, the more enraged the Banette would become for having his much larger ally stand it his way from attacking. Soon, Shadow snapped. He grabbed the handle of his zipper-like mouth, unzipped it, and let out a high-pitched roar, something he did only when he was truly pissed off, and was his way of saying, "I'm serious, now!" At this point, a fight was inevitable, no matter how hard Wight or her Pokemon would try to stop it. Dusknoir sighed, and tried to communicate with Poseidon, telling him that he was on his side and the main objective for the moment was to stop Shadow, who had gone batshit-insane. |

Darkness' message had reached Poseidon, but he remained defensive. It didn't make much sense to him that a Pokemon would not listen to its allies. Then again, maybe not all Pokemon had been trained with as much discipline and trust as his Trainer taught her Pokemon to show. Cree heard Wight try to stop the fight but knew it was useless. She sighed and turned as she saw Shadow go crazy, taking out a Poke Ball as a response. "Forgive me, but you need help and I'm not about to have my Pokemon attacked for nothing." That said, she threw her Poke Ball forward and it opened, an Ononokusu coming out of the capsule. "Kobo!" Cree called as she pointed at the rabid Banette. "Shadow Claw!" The dragon charged at the Ghost Pokemon and lashed out his claw, enveloped in dark energy. |
