Completely unrealistic, but...; Disc based S&K

I think it'd be cool to have a disc version of Sonic & Knuckles for 360 and PS3. Maybe have some extras thrown in? It would be a complete waste of a CD but I just think it'd be cool to have a Blu Ray case with the S&K box art on it and manual.

As far as I'm aware PS3 isn't backwards compatable and 360 is only backwards compatable with a selection of games, I'm not sure if the collection titles are on that list.

PS3 is partially backwards compatible. You can play PS1 games on it, but not your PS2 games. Which is kind of stupid, although without a Memory Card slot I wouldn't be playing on the PS3 anyway.

The 360 is backwards compatible with some older games so long as you download a patch for them, and not all the games have a patch. We had trouble with this recently, and when I went to find the list of games that were supported the thing was supposedly missing. Cheers, Microsoft. ¬_¬

Anyways, as most folks have said about this before me; unless it's crammed with extras or is a remake of sorts, I wouldn't find myself buying it. Especially since I have a Wii and a GC copy of Sonic Mega Collection available. xP

PS3 60 GB when it was first released, is backwards compatible. Anyway a new version of Sonic & Knuckles, sound good. A new version with updated graphics with 3D backgrounds and some extras.

The point is as much as some of my GameCube games are glorious I can play them on my gamecube. I want updated versions.

I don't care if the 360 and PS3 can handle Xbox Original or PS2 games I want a new look at the old games. I know that's a lot to ask and given that SEGA tried with Sonic 4 and that didn't please the majority of fans because they tried to add a new spin to it and new music as opposed to orchestrating the music and keeping the same game just with updated graphics.

I would love to have an updated Sonic Mega Collection on a next gen console. It'd be so beautiful in HD!

this would be a possibility if sega cared at all about what their fans wanted instead of some far-fetched scheme to make money that won't do anything but piss off both the fans and sonic team. i mean, who wouldn't go out and buy something like this?

I still can't use this.

I most likely wouldn't. More specifically, it'd depend upon the quality of additional content. I only bought Mega and Gems Collection because my Genesis has been done in for years and they included games I never played before. Gamecube games are Wii-compatible, so I've been set with classic Sonic for two whole generations-- Not that I regularly play classic Sonic anymore. When you've played them for years and been bombarded with port after port after port after port after port, in time you'd just rather hit up Colors or something. So why praytell would I need to go buy the same (one) game again for near or full retail price? Even if Sega did the nice thing and enhanced or redid the graphics, that wouldn't really change the fact that I am in effect playing the same game I can play on the Wii or simply emulate for free.

PS: Welcome to the forum. You seem awesome. xD

if your genesis had been dead anyway, then just having a port even without the content would have been nice, i'd like to think. i know when i bought my mega and gems collection games, i didn't even care about the extras - i just wanted to relive the good old games!

i concede that now, since a port has already been released, the quality would have to be upped for it to be worth it to some people. that doesn't sound like it would really be that hard, though, and would certainly be less strain on sonic team then the completely new games that an increasing number of people are refusing to buy because the last one messed up. i haven't tried colours yet, though, i will confess.

oh, and don't tell any game company about your emulation. they'll have a cow. thanks for the welcome, by the way.

I'd only buy it if Sega included extras. Serious, behind-the-scenes extras. Newly-conducted interviews extras. Artbook extras. Bonus level extras. Animated short extras. No way I'd pay sixty bucks for essentially some repackaged box art and a plastic disk.
Well if they had some extras, I don't know if I'd want them tampering too much with the actual game itself but there would be extras. An option to play it in its original form formatted for widescreen HDTVs and a remade version with all new artwork and sprites(but in similar style to the old versions). Also, no, it would not be $60. lol Not even the PS2 HD ports are $60 and those have like 2-3 games on one disc. I'd say $20 at most, but I'd just love to have it in my box collection again and I know it's way out there.

I wouldn't even pay $20 for updated graphics-- Heck, Sonic 4 was $15. I always feel that leaving reissues at nothing but a graphical update is such a cop-out because you're still playing the exact same game you could probably be emulating for free. Cel-shaded or 3D graphics can't really shield that for me. xP

Well for that price Metallix you've sold me I would definitely be buying a copy for that kind of money!

I think a nice remake with the option to play it in it's original form or updated would make a really nice feature, especially if they had a button you could press to adjust it during game play although I'd probably break the game as at certain points I would start checking the differences.

I guess both the original alongside a remake version would be interesting... but I still want at least art sketches and that sort of nifty stuff. |3

Whilst I do love unlocking extras and stuff I don't look at them all that much, you know like concept and designs and what not. It really just makes me go. "Oh...!" once when I initially unlock it and then that's it. So I am not fussed about that sort of thing apart from maybe interviews. I adore watching interviews.

I like interviews too. |3

But I prefer the art thingies. I like browing through the art and such. The designs tend to be captivating, at least, IMO.

I did like in Sonic Mega Collection where they hand the Archie Comic book front covers that was awesome to browse through and watch progress.

Well, something to the avail of comics could work for me. Though I still want the sketches. And why not? Throw in interviews. XD
