No, no of course it isn't a bad thing that you support him Desertbabe. I think it is nice he has support from a lot of people this is why I think he wont' get scrapped, not entirely anyway. All I am saying is I feel SEGA like to clutch at old ideas that they felt would be a success but sucked eggs in the fanbase so I really doubt they are going to get rid of Silver or Blaze, I personally find him irritating but that's just because he's fairly new in comparison to the other characters. Shadow irritated the life out of me but I've been brainwashed into accepting him because he really won't get kicked at any point. The nice thing about Silver is basically what Zak said - he isn't an arrogant, confident and cocky teenager, he is subdued which is a nice trait and very rare for heroes in these sorts of games so that's nice. |

Some people here mentioned him being a merge of Shadow and Tails. You forgot about Knuckles. |

I can see the Tails and Shadow but the Knuckles one I am intrigued about - how do you see Knuckles in Silver? |

Well, Silver at first was kind of naive and trusting, just like Knuckles was in 3 and K. |

I actually really like Silver too. Unlike alot of the real popular Sonic characters, he's actually very vulnerable and well, more real, is how I guess I'd put it. He's just an interesting add to the cast for me, and I would LOVE for them to do more on him. I bet if he had came from an actual good game, he would be much more popular, because really, he's a good character in my opinion. And actually, I enjoyed his gameplay more then Shadow and Sonic's gameplay in Next Gen, but prob cause you were destroying robots 80% of the times in their episodes. At least in Silver's, you're actually supposed to. Destroying robots and creatures with his powers is FUN. |

Sandopolis Act 1

Silver is my least favorite character in the series. That being said, if I want to ignore Silver, I can. I mean, If they make a game where he is important, I don't have to buy it. He's there. I'd prefer him in there moreso than out. SEGA would be idiots to just forget an important character. |

Most of the cast should had been scrapped as far a sonic adventure 2 but SEGa needs them to keep their new fanbase or else lose sales. I am more or less indifferent to Silver but he rubbed off on a lot fans the wrong way in '06, he isn't to different from Axl from the mega Man games. Silver and Axl have this in cmmon, they loved by new fans while hated by the old school fans, the rest are just indifferent to their existance. The plot of the Rush games is garbage as well as the Eggman Nega villain and Marine. |

Wise words there Guernsey, I think a lot of the retro fans hate most of the new characters regardless of who they are and what their relationship is to the story most of them want the glory days to return and then rage about it when it doesn't get done right. I do agree though The "Rush" story line and plot with Nega and Marine is NOT a good series at all. Fwiss - you make a fair point I think SEGA would learn if people didn't rush out and buy the games just because it is Sonic related, if people deliberately boycotted character games they disliked then it's one way for Sega to learn "Oh they don't like that guy..." instead of adding any more characters though I think SEGA should just work on building upon their current cast, there's enough there to build a really good series from if they work at it. |

Good to be back

Mehhh... I personally think that most Sonic games don't like to concentrate on a decent story arc. They spend much more time developing the gameplay, which I would choose over the story, even if just by a little. Blaze added a nice option for gamers; Blaze could hover to access new points in the game and jump a little higher than Sonic, making her a slightly more unique gameplay experience. I don't think scrapping the cast at this point would have any positive effect on the series as a whole; it would just leave far too many gaping holes in the form of unexplained questions and absences. Unless, of course, they were all hit by a nuclear radiation and suffered radiation poisoning. Somehow, I don't see that happening. |

That would be a very lazy get out for SEGA if they just wiped all the cast out because of a nuclear thing. I personally think that it would have been more sensible if they had kept certain characters dead when they "died" and given the rest of characters either more development or less characters and more story development. I mean I know they like to have variance but now there are far too many characters and too many questions/plot holes. So if they just try to work on that with the current bunch I'll be a happy chappy. |

So the game wouldn't be called Sonic The Hedgehog anymore if you had your wish of having all the characters die off when it implied they were dead? |

No no what I mean is characters die (like Shadow died but came back) is a very lazy plot device they use and all I am saying is if they are going to kill a character off kill them. Don't bring them back to milk them as a cash cow. |

yeah, but technically didn't sonic die at one point too? I never finished '06 but I thought I heard somewhere that he dies at the end... anyway more on topic =P I really don't see how Silver/Blaze fit into the universe if they are from another time/dimension/whatever. I mean, if everything is honky dory in their world then they have no reason to come to Sonic's right? And I would rather not see a spin-off where you play as sliver/blaze in their world and Sonic & co. were not around... I guess I have no reason why I wouldn't like that... I just wouldn't. Being mostly an old school fan, I still like new characters, if they are done right. i will admit that I never really liked Shadow but not because he was new.. just because he was so emo lol. And I've already shared my beef with Silver. I think it would be awesome if there was a character somewhat based on silver that could reside within the same world as Sonic. A different character with telekinesis, maybe one thats not a hedgehog... haha? |

He's dead for like three minutes. To keep with the Silver deal: Look, I can't stand Silver. He has perks which add to the series, i.e., not being some arrogant punk who loves running, but at the end of the day he's served his purpose and didn't go away when he did. Further, he's not as subdued as we seem to let on. He comes off as obtrusive and whiny to me. But he's got redeeming qualities which could, if played right, make him sensible. If they'd explain his continued presence and make him the quiet one, he could be more acceptable to me. Unlike some characters who bug me, Silver's actually not a hard fix. So in the end, Silver is a character I feel could go either way, being either written out to conclude his current role or expanded on to begin future roles. And for what I see, a write-out isn't likely, and I'd be rather irate to see him wasted by a write-out, so I expect more Silver (and hope for an expansion of the same.) |

Ahh, spring~

I'm slowly beginning to warm up to Silver, although I don't think he'll ever scrape my favourite character list. However, I personally don't really care for him to play a major role in a game again. His plotline is filled with story holes (Eggman Nega), and writing him would in be somewhat difficult since he's from the future. If he remains a demoted spin-off character, then no skin off my bones. Edited by Leafy, Dec 12 2010, 06:26 AM.
