 Uploaded with ImageShack.us Ahhhhh, Archie Comics. At times, their writing is quite decent to OK. Most of the time, they just pull s*** out of their a** don't they? Apparently Shadow is not the Ultimate Life form, but the Ultimate PANSY. He can beat Fiest, but a little flicker of fire will disable his teleport power. He can beat Black Doom and Mephilies, yet he can't beat Lara-Su. Apparently this is what I believe. When the Archie writers want their characters to win, they pull out some bull**** power out and just press the "win" button. That is not good writing, that is a COP OUT. Don't even get me started on the EMP mines Tails conveniently had in the right position, at the right time to trigger on the Dark Legion, even though there was nothing to show he placed them there. It takes away any tension or drama in a situation and basically like Archie is being a troll. Also, whats with the character turn overs? One time Lien-Da In the future(And F*** that storyline too) said she didn't want to hurt the kids, than the next few pages she fires a rocket launcher at Sonic and Sally...and the kids. I may not be a creative writing expert, but even I can notice bad writing. I also love how Rouge and Shadow were willing to help Sonic and friends, than be complete douches to them later on. And you can't say that its a ability Blaze has that can do that. Not only is it never mentioned or used, but she is not Super. Shadow is powerful and can become more so with Chaos Emeralds(Seeing as Sol Emeralds are like them). The fact she can basically say "No teleport for you lawl" shows that whenver Archie wants a character to win, but they wrote themselves into a corner, they have to come up with a bull**** power they can pull out of their a**. Lara-Su is worst with this, in that she never onced used said powers until conveniently when she was fighting Shadow and even managed to BEAT HIM. First of all, heres a creative writing tip. Don't just make your character win the battle with the villain if your continuing a story. Instead, let the villain win or get one over the hero. It creates tension, and have the Hero manage to use something he had before to beat the villain in one desperate strike. Magic powers does not count, since pulling out a power you NEVER had before, raises more questions. If its a power they DID have before, than it makes sense. Even Linkara could point out this stuff if he had extensive knowledge of the Archie Sonic universe. I know I contribute to this madness by buying the comics, but Rouge really is the ONLY reason I buy them. I could easily not give a rats a** once the ark is over, which Blaze and the others will win, since Archie will make tension in the story, only to be resolved with a stupid reason. I mean do you really expect something dramatic to really happen? Defend Blaze if you want, but don't defend Archie. I don't like Blaze that much, but its the writers who are to blame when characters act like d****, pricks, and act out of character. (For the sake of this forum, I censored out most cuss words. If I need to censor more, let me know) |

Like Christmas Mio, I don't follow the Archie storylines... although I have read some of the early, early comics. They were hilariously cute fun. ^-^ I have heard that Archie sometimes has trouble adapting Sega Sonic characters into the comics. The original Archie cast found niches quite nicely, Sonic was the hero, Sally was the love interest, Bunnie was the "new" guy, etc. I suppose as they tried to adapt Sega characters in, it became difficult to keep everyone and everything in its place. Amy lost her purpose, and would play second-fiddle to Sally, and I'm sure their are more examples. However, I do like- from what I've heard- how they handle Shadow. Making Shadow an actual "Ultimate Lifeform" would make the character very broken when compared to others. It's interesting when characters who wouldn't give eachother the time of day interact. Comics are a terrific medium for exploring characters in different scenarios. If Shadow was an over-powered god, he could just beat everyone up; where's the good story in that? On the other hand, Shadow's chaos control is vulnerable to... fire? Yeah, I'm going to need more information there! ^.^;; |

This...is odd. Nothing else to say other than...It's just odd. I don't know how to respond to, or even contest, to why Shadow can't use the emerald or Why Blaze can stop it other than Archie's hap hazard writing... |

Wow this is sheer laziness on Archie's behalf it is like what happens when people write fan-fiction they suddenly drop all the straws they were clutching that had plausible and decent enough potential plot lines and instead come up with a really pathetic one like "And because I say so she magically has the power to not allow teleportation because fire really does stop it". What a load of nonsense, in a way I am glad I have not been keeping up to date with the Archie comics if this is what they are doing to it. Shame on you Archie! Shame. On. You. |

... I'm sorry, how does pyrokinesis block Chaos Control-based teleportation again? Last time I checked, fire can't interfere with space/time manipulation. How... How the hell would it? It makes no sense whatsoever! As a self-professed anomalistic ability expert, THIS MAKES ME VERY IRRITATED.  Oh, and, yeah, Shadow's a b*tch too I guess. *handwave* But I'm rather more concerned about this whole 'pyrokinesis blocks teleportation' thing. The overwhelming majority of your opening post is a rant on the flaws of Archie's writing. Therefore, the picture acts like an aid for your rant rather than a piece of artwork meant to stand as the subject of a topic and receive comments and critique. You would have done better to nix the rant entirely, but as far as I see now, the problems of Archie's writing is the subject, not the comic you made. |

Honestly I find it silly that half the rant is based on the fact that Shadow lost. Boo hoo. I'm not going to defend the Archie comics as they're only okay, but what people need to understand about the comics AND games is that it is all fiction where everything is at the mercy of the writer. Fire shouldn't stop teleportation, but it's fiction and I like that there's a way to stop Pansyhog from just jumping around without being harmed. There isn't a good reason to waste your time being angry like this at stuff like this.

The thing is that the way they stopped Shadow "just jumping around without being harmed" was just ridiculous. I'm not saying that he should have won, but Blaze is the Guardian of the Sol Emeralds! Surely they could had have her use some Sol manipulation, since they're pretty much alternate universe Chaos Emeralds which could easily do something like interfere with space/time manipulation.

Comrade, I don't mean to be rude. I know its fiction. The problem is even with fictional stories, there needs to be SOME consistency. Some rules established in the universe you are writing. I mean, why else you think people get upset at plot holes and such? Stories can be utterly crippled if there's to many plot holes and thats why people get onto writers about it. Its not that Shadow is beaten that I am Boo hooing, its the fact his characters abilities are rendered useless despite being the most powerful of the bunch. And Anton I never noticed that and you are right. If that was the case, I wouldn't complain at all about it since its believable(By the universes standards). |

Lol up in that last post. I hate Shadow, Archie really makes him overpowered, but one good thing they did with him was NOT develop his character. I don't follow Archie's storyline very closely, but I believe Shadow doesn't have too many powers added over his base. A gun is not a power. In the games, they extend Blaze's power in Sonic '06, but those are based off of fire, too. Archie just pulls teleportation blocking completely off the wall. I mean, I guess one couldn't teleport though fire, depending on what Archie's 'teleport' means. 'Cuz of the heat energy. Maybe it has a set heat level it can teleport through and still be able to reassemble him correctly, since the heat could mess that up. If teleportation even works like that. And come on, this comic has a large @10 year old audience. ou think they care about how it would happen? No. They understand fire's basic attributes. Then the other parts you're talking about, the retro games kind of extend their powers. Sonic 1, he can do his moves from Sonic 1. Sonic 2, he pulls a spindash out of nowhere with no explanation, and he gets a fox. Sonic and Knuckles, he gets an air attack, and Hyper Sonic comes outta nowhere. In Sonic CD he gets the Super peel-out. The ability leap to Adventure is huge. But with games, that is expected. They're small glimpses of a certain incedent, not a continuing show on the character's lives. And nobody does any training. You can learn a good lesson from old anime sho - CONCLUSION PARAGRAPH. It angers me when they pull stuff out of nowhere, but even more so when they have no attempt at a coherent explanation. Peace, The Coo. |

And I have a couple theories. First off, I noticed something; Blaze was able to make a Sol Emerald appear out of nowhere. (Probably some object teleportation thing she can do with those gems or something, I dunno. *waves hand flippantly* I'm not gonna worry about that - I actually would kinda expect her to have powers over the Sol Emeralds) So, Shadow decides to use the Sol Emerald to teleport him, Rouge, and Omega away. However, a couple panels later, it's Blaze that has the Emerald. Now, if my theory is correct and Blaze really can summon Sol Emeralds to her (or at least that particular grey one), perhaps she transfered that one from Shadow back to her. And the fire? I'm guessing it was a way to keep Team Dark down for a moment, and not the real reason why Shadow couldn't have warped Team Dark out of wherever it was they were. And here's another theory; When Shadow was holding the grey emerald for a Chaos Control, there was fire coming out of it. And Blaze controls fire, am I right? So, what I think happened is that Blaze made this fire larger, hence the huge wall of the stuff. Team Dark was thrown back from the flames, and somehow, the emerald ended up in Blaze's hands. That last one I'm gonna pass as the artists being lazy and not the writers this time. I may not be an anomolistic expert like TUC is, and my lack of knowledge about the comics could render parts of my theories completely moot.
