Scheduled to come out on December 17th, TRON: Legacy is the official sequel to the 1982 movie 'TRON'. TRON was set around the entrance of computer programmer Kevin Flynn (played then and now by Jeff Bridges of The Big Lebowski, Iron Man and Crazy Heart fame) into the world of cyberspace after being converted into electronic data by an experiment laser being controlled by cyberspace's penultimate dictator: the Master Control Program and his right hand man Sark, created by Ed Dillinger (all three portrayed by David Warner), a rival programmer who stole Flynn's video game designs and rose to the top in the executive ladder of EMCON Corporation. In TRON, working alongside a security program of the same name created by programmer Alan Bradley (again, both TRON and Bradley portrayed by one person, Bruce Boxleitner), Flynn breaks cyberspace free of the MCP's influence and gets the evidence necessary to get rid of Dillinger. EMCON makes Flynn the CEO in his place. In TRON 2, Flynn has disappeared sometime in the late 1980s/early 1990s. Filling in for him is Alan Bradley. In the present, Flynn's son Sam (Garrett Hedlund) finds himself in cyberspace after finding a mysterious signal coming from his father's old arcade. Working alongside his father and a friendly program-warrior named Quorra (Olivia Wilde, better known as Dr. Remy "Thirteen" Hadley from the TV show House M.D), they must face another threat to cyberspace. The visuals of TRON Legacy from what can be seen from the trailers and promotional materials has gotten a sleek new finish fitting for this generation. Add the fact that the masters of electronic music, French duo Daft Punk produced the score (and have a cameo in the movie as two MP3 player programs) and Disney may very well have produced a blockbuster hit. |

So.....no Tron in this one? Am I the only one who sees the problem with that? But that sad fact aside, this movie is shaping up to be my most anticipated of the year. |

Looking forward to seeing it, TRON is just an excellent film regardless of how people see it with the graphics etc.. which to be fair in 1982 was really good. Hopefully the story and film in general doesn't disapoint. |

Speedy I couldn't agree more with you. For it's time Tron was fantastic graphically and anything else. I cannot word properly how excited I am about seeing this one in the cinema. I have been counting down the days and I may actually watch it in 3D which is so unlike me as I hate 3D films for so many reasons but I really want to enjoy Tron as much as I possibly can!! |

Still not sure if I want to see this. Tron was before my time, and despite its impact in the entertainment industry, I can't bring myself to watch the original. I may see this one if the reviews come back good and my nearby folks find interest in it. TV spots look good, tho'. xP |

I saw the original Tron a few years ago - gotta agree, for 1982, it looked excellent visually and I did somewhat enjoy it. An extended preview for the sequel played before I saw Deathly Hallows Pt 1 and from what I can see it doesn't look all that bad... we'll see how reviews go though. |

I thought I already posted here. Huh. Anyways, I haven't seen the original Tron myself, but I am interested in seeing this one. Maybe I'll head down to the local video shop and borrow a copy of the original just for the sake of seeing what it was all about. There are other movies higher up on my list at the moment for cinema watching, but I'll be keeping this one in mind. On a semi related note, I find it funny that the game is already out here, and I've yet to see so much as a TV Spot for the movie or anything. xD |

This is a midnight IMAX must for me. The original Tron movie is a great film, IMO. Very, very underrated.I can't wait for this. If this movie blows... I'm giving up hope for being excited for anymore movies.

Vermillion you and me both. I am excited, for once, about a film coming out in the cinema and I actually want to go see it on the big screen but it seems now I won't have someone to go see it with. D: If it does suck I will give up my faith in the modern film industry. I have yet to be impressed by current releases to the point of getting excited about films. |
