Laguna Seca has been completely rebuilt and will return for GT5. Trial Mountain has also been confirmed.
“Gran Turismo Anywhere” will allow you to manage B-Spec races, right from your computer. You’ll be able to hold B-Spec races with your friends from anywhere in what are called “Remote Races”.
GT5 will feature a series of special events such as the Karting Experience, the AMG driving school, The Stig Challenge, Jeff Gordon NASCAR School, Sebastien Loeb Rally Challenge, and Gran Turismo Rally.
Point-to-point rally stages will be automatically and randomly generated – you’ll have to depend on your co-driver to give you the best instructions about the road ahead.
Rally mode can be played either on or offline.
Weather changes include temperature differences, air pressure changes, and humidity, affecting the surface conditions of the track dynamically.
Weather conditions are randomized. Forecasts for your race will be available but may not be entirely accurate, just like the real world.
Polyphony Digital has helped Red Bull Racing’s Adrian Newey design the X1 Concept – an “ultimate” racing car, free of any technical regulations.
Polyphony Digital has worked to improve engine sounds.
Yamauchi admits that, in certain situations – such as standing race starts in the rain with 15 other cars on the screen kicking up spray in front of you – the game may not be able to hold 60FPS. Otherwise, it will strive to hold 60FPS as often as possible.
The Volkswagen Kubelwagen, which has a drive system like the first beetle, and the amphibious Volkswagen Schwimmwagen will be in the game.
Many things didn’t make the cut in Gran Turismo 5, and work on Gran Turismo 6 has already begun.
Interview with Shuhei Yoshida
With a title like Gran Turismo 5 based on real world cars and tracks, you wouldn't necessarily expect a track editor. It's something simulation racing fans have had on their wishlist and they should consider their wish granted now though as Sony has confirmed that the PS3 exclusive is coming with track creation and sharing, go-karting, and weather.
In an interview with the UK Playstation Blog, SCE Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said the following about Gran Tusrismo 5.
Quote:
Gran Turismo 5 will offer gamers an experience more rich, more in-depth and more exciting than they might expect - even from a series as closely identified with innovation and invention as Gran Turismo. Not only will Gran Turismo 5 deliver an even more comprehensive set of cars and courses than gamers saw with previous iterations, it will also feature new game-enhacing graphical effects such as damage, night racing and weather.
These innovations are twinned with the option to join millions of like-minded individuals globally within the Gran Turismo community and to find a driving experience to suit, whether that is taking on the Top Gear test track, chucking cars around stunt arenas, go-karting, creating and sharing your own track or intense head-to-head races. Who, where and what to drive is completely down to the individual.
I had to get GT5 Prologue to gear up for the real thing in 2 1/2 months! Let me tell you, GT5 is SO MUCH BETTER with surround sound. I am also thinking about getting the Logitech G27 racing wheel. This is not one of those crappy madcatz wheels, it actually has force feedback that simulates traction loss, body roll, road conditions, etc. I've had experience with very crappy wheels before but this one is a REAL simulation wheel.
If I don't get this, I'll probably get the driving force GT which is another great simulation wheel but cheaper(albeit not quite as good as the G27). Anyone else excited for GT5?
I just ended up getting the Driving Force GT wheel. Anyway, it's hard to get used to and I don't have the best set up for it yet but I'm sure I'll get it.
First Go Kart gameplay!
Course Marker officially unveiled.

Rather than being a fully featured editor – a feature that, Yamauchi confessed, was tinkered with but deemed too complex – the course maker allows players to select certain set parameters to create a track. A theme can be selected, with the Belgian High Fens or Toscana two examples, and the individual track sectors are then defined.
Sectors are edited individually, with frequency of curves, sharpness of corners, degree of topography and banking angle are set with a series of sliders.
I believe it will blow everyone's expectations. Yet I wouldn't believe that date of release, as I've read about it been delayed after Christmas, at least in Europe. Anyway, they have already started working on the 6th project even before the 5th one's release. If this becomes such an epic title, how the hell will they be able to reach even further what people may want.
Anyway, still a Forza fan, always will be.

Gran Turismo 5 is already completed and they've been pressing the discs so I believe a late November release date. They delayed it from November 2nd but there were manufacturing problems that arose which caused it to be delayed slightly. Sony has already promised it would be out before Christmas.
Now what I think is the most impressive stuff is the actual change of weather in the middle of race. Possible for those long races, knowing what tires to use is vital for success. I've always missed that about Forza 3. Perhaps I'll have a go at this at my friends house. Who knows, if he's picking it up.
Edit. And well, I've only read Norwegian news, it didn't exactly say any exact date. So I guess that's the correct release then.
After an unfortunate delay, which had GT fans wondering if GT5 would ever come out, we now have official confirmation of the release date! It will be released on November the 24th! Not bad as it's still released in the same month and just in time for Black Friday.
Well we have had people who owned the game for awhile now and we have a guy from GTPlanet that is giving us information about the game. I'll post highlights of the review he has done but if you are interested, just know that there is much more to be posted! This game just blows away any other GT game and ups the ante for all racers alike!
First, rally is awesome. Period. Will make deeper explorations of the physics tomorrow, but from what I've experienced today, physics in all aspects of the game is nothing but phenomenal. It is difficult to explain, but with every new corner and movement of the car you get the idea you've learned something new. Some tiny bit, some small idea about something, but important and meaningful. During process of golding N-A it was 1997 ll over again, with some familiar licenses in different setting, all up to One Lap Magic finale.
My physics impression comes from driving stock RX-7 (N2), stock M3 (S1) and racing Castrol Supra (R1) on dry surfaces. GT5 physics is the most advanced physics any any GT game to date, more complex than Prologue, demanding as Academy TT physics, but much more subtile and profound. Tire-snap is now logical, you can feel the surface, suspension and weight on tires and you can perfectly determine what is going on with the tire-grip. I'm impressed with modeling of suspensions - feel of the road is phenomenal and in every moment you know what your car is doing through the force feedback effect delivered on the wheel.
I took a moment to pay attention, but - you just don't see the difference during the race. On my set - and I'm using an 50" plasma - all Standard cars look like a Prologue cars in-race. It is more-less visible in the replay, but overall I think PD did a very decent job in mixing the two breeds.
One of the most common questions was one regarding the sounds. GT5 have drastically improved sounds over Prologue in every way. I started a Demo Drive for F430 and it sounds much better than in Prologue, as well as all cars I've driven. Notice that sound changes when driving in cockpit, as I mentioned yesterday best (loudest and clearest) sound is when driving from the roof-cam. However, it is logical to be as that, because the sound of the car from outside and from inside is not the same, as in real life. In the sound department I really love the way in which Doppler effect have been implemented during replays. It shines in surround setting and everybody who got any kind of surround system will enjoy probably the most realistic interpretation of audio-design in virtual racing from "spectator" point of view.
Holy crap, this game has the best graphics ever.... These are all pictures taken in photo mode. On a side note, it's sad how I'm like the only one on this site interested in this game. We don't have many car/racing fans here it seems but everywhere else it's got a lot of discussion about it.
I think the game looks amazing, although I never was into the Gran Turismo series. Maybe I'll give this one a shot. Neo Metallix Yesterday, 3:20 PM Holy crap, this game has the best graphics ever.... Basically I don't have PS3. So I'm out of words what else to add about this title. Sure it looks unbelievable, but I can't really come to the conclusion there's any competition now, seeing as GT5 is released over a year after Forza's latest project.

Well that doesn't mean you can't be interested in it. I played Forza 2 and 3 at a friend's house. I mean, I always knew GT5 would be the granddaddy of racing sims but that doesn't detract any from Forza. They're both good games and there are other racing sims that are good too like Ferrari Challenge.
I'm just really excited! GT5 Prologue just is meh, especially compared to the full version. GT5 not only has way more content than Prologue but it also has much improved physics(the most important part of a racing simulator), weather, night/day, damage, course maker, and so many more options to tuning your car.
It's so much improved I don't even see how Prologue can be considered a Prologue!! Plus I bought a very nice steering wheel for this game. Logitech makes the best wheels and while I didn't buy the best I got one that is very good. It has force feedback to simulate how a real wheel would work. I just need a better mounting table for it.
It came out today and I got it!!! Here are my impressions from playing all day:
Pros:
It's Gran Turismo. Everything you love about Gran Turismo is here, no compromises to make the game more accessible.
The varity of events is outstanding, not just the normal races, but also the licence events and special events.
Attention of detail on the premium cars is nothing short of amazing (photo mode, zoomed in on car, saw the numbers on the dials were modelled not just textures)
The physics update has improved the game to an untold degree, cars do feel unique be it a heavy NASCAR or the lightweight karts or anything in between. Racing on dirt/snow has been refined now and, as I predicted, racing on a dirt track in GT5 does feel better than WRC 2010.
Leveling, combined with licences, means you've always a next logical step with your car or a car than can be acquired cheaply (I predict this will continue as prize money increases as you move up the ladder).
Lighting effects are outstanding, especially on the night/wet tracks.
Once again, drift mode on Eiger Nordwand has me hooked.
There is damage but its locked in the first few levels to help you learn how to drive without worrying about having to pay to repair your car.
Cons:
The Standard models aren't bad, but because of how good the premiums are, it's slightly noticable. The lack of cockpit view is somewhat disappointing.
B-Spec mode, while I only spent a little time with it, doesn't strike me as particularly interesting.
The leveling system leads to inconsistant damage/AI between events.
The shadows are pretty bad in places, odd given the lighting.
Wow patch 1.05 just came out at a whopping 600+mb and added/changed a lot! Really great update! Im genuinely surprised at how many small fixes there are in this patch. Lets hope these updates keep coming.

The latest update to Gran Turismo 5, version 1.05, was made available just a few hours ago and weighs in at 608MB. Here’s a quick, official summary of all the new changes, but users are discovering a few more new tweaks in our forums as well:
* Seasonal Events: [Seasonal Events] have been added to the [GT Mode] – [GT Life] screen. From here you can participate in official online events from the Polyphony Digital team. In these events, all participants are under the same regulations, and if you complete the event you will win rewards and experience. Compete on the leader boards with players around the world, in Time Trials and Drift Trials! * Online Collector’s Dealership: An [Online Collector's Dealership] has been added to the left and centre of the [GT Mode]-[GT Life] screen. In here you will find popular and rare cars. You might just come across that one car you’ve always been looking for, that you haven’t been able to find in the [Used Car Dealership]. * Online Race Rewards and Experience: When you complete a race in the [Open Lobby] or [My Lounge], you will now gain rewards and experience points. Even if you are focused more on playing online, you’ll still be able to gain rewards and levels that you need to progress in [GT Life]. * Driving Distance and Number of Wins in Online Races: The driving distance and the number of wins you achieve when you complete a race in [Open Lobby] or [My Lounge] will now affect your stats in [Profile] and the [Garage]. Here the results from your online play will cumulate within [GT Life]. * Improved Rewards: The rewards for winning races in both A-Spec and B-Spec in [GT Mode]-[GT Life] have been increased for a limited time only. (This applies until the end of January 2011.) This is a great chance for those who were previously having difficulties getting ahead in the game, due to a lack of funds for tuning and purchasing required cars. * Race Information Display: It is now possible to set the [Race Info Display] in [Start]-[Quick Options]. (You can also set this in [Race Display] in [Options]). Effectively giving the ability to turn off all HUD. * Save Data Backup: You can now copy and restore your save data. For details, please refer to the in-game [Manual]. * User BGM (Menu): From [Options]-[Hardware]-[Audio Settings], it is now possible to set the [User BGM] (Menu)]. (This can also be set from the [Music Library] within [GT Mode]). * Car Name Change: The official name of “Red Bull X1″ has been changed to the “Red Bull X2010″. * Integration with the Website: The main features within [GT Mode]-[Community] can now also be accessed through the “gran-turismo.com” official website. * [Important Note:] We have made improvements to the [Log] within [GT Mode]- [Community] section, in order to make its operation more stable. Please note that the information that was contained here from before the update has been reset.
MORE UPDATES:
* The license test menus have been streamlined. After winning a bronze or silver trophy, for example, you have the option to immediately restart the test without having to sit through the animation sequence. This applies to all races, not just licenses. * GT Academy USA has now been listed in the new Seasonal Events (I’m writing up a full post on this now). * Mechanical damage has now been implemented in the game’s “Practice Mode” and "Arcade Mode" – the first time the feature has been usable outside of the custom online events. * The Car selection load times are all but gone now. And the scrolling through the dealers is fast. But it's nice to click on a car and instantly seeing it. * Sort Options are permanent now. If you sort by Power or weight or whatever, when you come back, it'll still be sorted that way. Same thing when switching between Standard, Premium, and Favorites. *
