We, as mortalkind, have been fortunate, receiving the protection of various gods, but I've seen them at the brink of apocalypse before. Victory against these things has only been gained with an ever-slimming margin. The gods can't protect us forever, and when they do fail, will we mortals be able to pick up the slack? Heh. That's why I'm going out to grab every advantage we can get. Increase the number of us mortals that are clued in, snapping up artifacts that'll even the odds against us. When darkness falls for the gods, mortals won't have to end with them if I have my say. A militia to hold off the eternal midnight. It took some doing, but Taylor Hiss had narrowed down the location of a device known as the "Armageddon Device," purported to be an energy weapon powerful enough to tear a hole between dimensions. If his intel was good, it was constructed for an imperial megalomaniac he had faced on few occasions before, but was never completed before it had been mysteriously vanished. He cracked a smile from behind the beverage he was drinking as he waited for his contacts. With a name like "the Armageddon Device," it probably was built for Emperor Lloyd Enigma. It was certainly pompous enough. The dimension he believed it had been hidden in (such weapons and the like were never destroyed, for some reason) was also one of the major stomping grounds of a group of... vigilantes, he guessed he could call them, that were called the 'Spirit Squad.' He'd worked with some of them before, and he had a proposition that they wouldn't be able to refuse in good conscience. So now Taylor waited in some smoky basement dive for some old friends, to talk with them about this new 'job' he had. He was pretty sure that this one would be fairly straightforward.
	Indeed, there is nothing more repulsive than these monsters that defy nature and are known by the name of witcher, as they are the offspring of foul sorcery and witchcraft. They are unscrupulous scoundrels without conscience and virtue, veritable creatures from hell capable only of taking lives. They have no place amongst decent and honest folk.

Cable replied, sighing a bit as he took a drag of his cigarette. "Are you annoyed that you were chosen for this mission?" Saber questioned, arms crossed under her chest while her legs crossed in front of her. "No..." Cable starts off, leaning back in his chair as he looked out the window, watching the buildings pass on by as the aircraft they were in traveled at a decent speed. "I'm annoyed because we're meeting up with this Taylor guy and the jerk didn't even bother to write us a letter before now." Saber blinked a few times as a reply to Cables random and off complaint. "Your lazy, and you wanted to do that mission with Tex and Syu." Cable took another drag of his bud, then tossed it on the ground as he exhaled the smoke from his mouth. "Yeah, that too." He replied, then looked at Saber and suddenly smirks. "Heh, I guess this isn't too bad. Your a lot hotter then Tex's daughter." "Pervert." She quickly comments, not looking away for getting aggravated since she was use to this, coming from Cable that is. "What can I say, I prefer red heads." He adds, smirking a bit more as he leaned closer to her. "Right... I'm sure it has nothing to do with well developed female features." Saber sarcastically comments back, leaning forward towards him in a lsightly teasing manner. "Heh, and you call me the pervert." "Drop point has been reached!" The pilot shouts, to which Cable and Saber both stand up. Cable slid open the door as the aircraft eased its way to the street below. Once it got about three feet above the ground, they both jumped out of the craft and land on their feet. The wind tossed Saber's hair all about as it took again and raced away into the skyline. "Well, we're here... Lets go say hi." Cable spoke, walking towards the building in which they will meet this guy named Taylor Hiss. "Cable, Saber, excellent. It's good to see you guys again. Sorry I haven't been in touch since the last job, but hey, it isn't my fault you guys are skeptical my whole interdimensional wanderer story." Then his tone became less jovial. "But hold your skepticism until later for this one, after we're done." He took a deep breath. "So. This is gonna take a while to explain, even if I cut short some of the ultra-weird stuff. You want the whole story and I'll buy the meal, or the quick version?"

"Huh." He uttered, not sure of what choice to make. He pulled out a cigarette and popped it into his mouth, finishing his hand in his pockets for his lighter. His eyes drifted towards the ceiling as he searched for the one thing he couldn't find at the moment. "We are use to the quick and to the point briefings, resulting in our departure towards our goal in a quick manner. We aren't here to learn history, but to do our job and that is it." Saber bluntly put it, crossing her arms under her chest as she leaned on her left hip. "What she said." Cable followed up, still looking for his lighter as he played with the cig a bit. "You didn't bring your lighter. Fact is, you never had a lighter." Saber informed him, to which he stopped and eyed her with his one eye, almost in a glare. "Right." With that, Cable brought his hand out and surrounded it with spirit fire. He brought the tip of the flame to his cig, lighting it as he took a few puffs. The flame was quickly extinguish as he placed both hands back into his pockets and waited for a reply.

He pulled out a rolled-up map that was lying beneath his sniper rifle and unrolled it onto the table. "Basically, I'm trying to track down unclaimed weapons capable of harming beings that aren't either spirit or mortal. 'Gods' might be the term you'd be familiar with, though I prefer to call 'em 'Metas.' Beside the point, though. Point is, I'm absolutely sure one such weapon got itself hid somewhere on this world." He pointed out several areas that had been circled in red pen on the map. "These circled spots are probable candidates for where it would've been hidden, from what I know of the entities that would have done the hiding. A lot of these are ruins from old civilizations that got more advanced than they possibly should have, period. That kind of thing." Most of the circles were in inhospitable terrain, and two of them were over open water. "Questions, concerns?"

He hummed as he continued to listen, taking a drag of his cig and exhaling out with it still in his mouth. "I'm not likely that spot there." Cable pointed out, laying is finger on one of the larger areas on the map. "Which area is it?" Saber asked as she walked over to the map. Normally Saber doesn't worry about where she is going or what type of place it is. All she cares about is ridding the world of evil spirits and the likes, doesn't matter where shes thrown into. However, when Cable mentioned that he didn't like a certain area, that was when Saber became curious. "Thats around the same area my father created me... At least, it use to be... You have no idea what kind of damn and cursed things live there." Cable informed as Saber looked over the map. "This shouldn't be a problem." "Like hell it shouldn't. You weren't born there, nor are you created from the same damn things that tried devouring your very life source. That place isn't a damn walk in the park, so what every the hell your looking for, it better be that damn important." Cable informed, looking at Taylor as he spoke with such intensity. "Your over dramatic, we've been trained to handle all sorts of demons and spirits. Besides, this is our mission. We were going to come across this place one way or another. Not to mention that this place," Saber points out to one of the places over open water. "Is a spirit hive of Class D Hydrons. Their spirit level is unknown because of the mass amount of them." Saber adds, to which Cable just crossed his arms and closed his eyes. "Regardless of where these items you seek are, we're going in and doing our job, no matter what we encounter... We'll send for back up if needed." She finishes as she looked upon Taylor, awaiting for their next orders.

"Then we should investigate those two last, as well as put off the other open-water-or-undersea point," he decided. "Because if it ended up here," he continued, pointing at the one Cable pointed out, "chances aren't good about it still being there if someone was there in the interim. As for those other two... I'm not good with naval, alright? Me and water..." he grunted. He pulled out a manila folder and lay it on top of the map, opening it. "Anyways, here's the information I have on the objective itself: it's supposed to be some kind of energy projector capable of disrupting the barriers between dimensions. That capability's not too far from being able to seriously damage Atma Matter; which is, cutting a long explanation short, the stuff metas are made of." The pictures inside made the device look like some kind of artillery piece or anti-vehicular weapon, certainly not something one would expect would be hidden for the periods of time assumed to be involved when one mentioned deities.

Saber looked over the picture once, almost as if she was just looking to look. "Fine, I'll leave the hunting to you two, I'll take care of whatever spirits come our way. Besides, with Cable's spirit eye, this shouldn't be hard to find." "Yeah, only if this device was a living being that a soul or spirit of some kind. Other then that, my spirit eye is kinda useless." Cable comments, to which Saber simply shrugs her shoulders. "So, where should we start off first then?" She asked, ready to get out there and find something to kill. Cable on the other hand was interested on finding out more. "How many of these things were created?" He asked, looking at the picture again.

"Probably one. A test model was made and exhibited before it apparently vanished. Plans disappeared as well. Metas-in-chief likely considered it too dangerous for anyone to get their hands on it. Then again, you don't know the kind of psycho that decided it was a good idea to make such a thing. He probably would've gone against the metas in charge if he'd been able have it mass-produced. Then again, I've probably not got the most stable of heads either in that case, but I like to think I know what I'm going to do with this thing," Taylor said. "Anyways, we've got a place in the jungle here and one in the desert out here. You guys are the professionals, what's your opinion on where we start?"

This will give Cable's spirit eye more chances of picking up any and all kinds of spirits." Saber decided, to which Cable staid there thinking about which to choose. "We can hit the jungle later. Besides, this jungle seems like a bad spot to start anything. Jungles normally mean fast moving spirits, dark ones too. The desert would mainly contain large elephant eating spirits. The big ones aren't that harmful, its the smaller ones we need to watch out for." Cable adds, almost as if he didn't hear Saber at all, which he did, but this was his way of teasing her a bit. "I have to warn you first." Cable starts off, looking at Taylor as he took another drag of his cig. "We're not going to be there alone." He adds, exhaling as he spoke. "This desert belongs to a spirit worshiping cult. We had dealings with them in the pass, and found out that they station themselves somewhere within this desert. We'd need to keep an eye out for them as well." He informed Taylor as he looked at the map for a moment.

They had been dropped off fairly deep within the desert, but still not within sight range of where the cultists mentioned before had made their camp. "I still don't see why we shouldn't get into the cultists' camp. Might be able to pinpoint the place we're looking for. This place looks the same no matter where you look; we could go for hours without realizing we're going in circles," Taylor suggested.
