Very interesting to see the PS2 still doing so well after 10 YEARS!! This is all official data from each console's respective manufacturer(January-September). Wii - 8.45m PS3 - 8.1m 360 - 5.8m PS2 - 4.8m Now for an interesting comparison, lets compare these official numbers to what VGChartz is reporting... Now I know some will argue that the official numbers are shipped and VGChartz tracks actual sells(how, I don't know, they have nothing to go off of) but if that were the case then how did Nintendo sell more than they shipped? ROFL VG Chartz numbers: Wii - 9.2m PS3 - 7.4 360 - 7.0 http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=es&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=es&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nicagamerz.com%2Fv6%2Fnews%2F422%2Ftotal-de-ventas-de-consolas-mundiales-desde-enero-a-septiembre-2010%2F Edited by Neo Metallix, Oct 29 2010, 08:47 AM.

And they say the Wii's in last... I'm not at all surprised that the 360 is behind though, that's what you get when you only focus on one genre of game. |

I've never heard anyone say the Wii is in last.... It's way ahead, but it doesn't have the massive sells it did back when it first came out. |

No, that's true. I was referring to Wii bashers who say it's "failing". Obviously not. Also, I think it's clear who won the 6th gen console wars. |

yeah, i wouldn't say that 360's downfall is the genre choice, I mean, that is what (vast majority of) 360 players want. I think it's more of the failure rate... I myself am on my 4th 360 console, I swear, if my slim model red rings or gets the "open tray error" (disc drive failure) I'm switching to Sony for good. as far as Nintendo's sales go, I think most (intelligent) people realized that they would come out ahead. A lot of families got wii consoles because of the low price, and people who were in the market to buy 2 consoles most likely bought a 360/PS3 and a Wii, again because of the lower price range, and because it would seem kind of redundant to own a ps3 and a 360, some people do, I know. I just don't see the point, most games come out on both, and unless you are a Halo fanboy(me) you probably went with the ps3 because of its lower failure rate, and you could probably say it has better exclusive titles then 360. But yeah, basically what I'm trying to say is, Wii is appealing to both ps3 and 360 gamers, so if they went to buy a second console, they most likely got a Wii. This added with the people who bought the Wii as a primary console pretty much destroys the competition. Edited by Muckshaw, Oct 29 2010, 10:29 AM.

Well, exactly. There's only so many people who are solely interested in FPSs out there, and once their numbers run out, that's it. Not to mention failure rates. |

from what I hear the 360 has been selling outselling everyone lately. but yeah I've never head any problems with my 360, and I've had it for over 2 years. it all depends on what kind of games you like. I like shooters and racers, so naturally I prefer the 360 over the other consoles. whereas the ps3 would be better for rpgs, platformers, etc. I haven't tried the online services of wii or ps3, but I'm satisfied with xbox live, well worth the fee you pay for it. and the ps2 is a beast to still be doing so well. |

Yeah the PS2 is a beast it's not going away anything soon. Even with the PS3 out the PS2 is still really successful that's just amazing. Yeah Xbox Live is pretty sick its still worth all the money you have to spend on it. I heard the PS3 online wasn't that good, but I wouldn't know and as for the wii it's pretty good you just need to know friends who play it. The Friend code system isn't that bad. |

PS3 online is not bad, there's some lag but it's usually good. |

http://kotaku.com/5678111/2010s-global-console-sales-at-a-glance![]() ![]() The Xbox 360 is fairing well in Europe and continues to have the United States on lockdown and that is all I care about. =P Also yes, comparatively the PS3's online service is very poor compared to Xbox Live just as Nintendo's online service is very poor compared to both its competitors. The games in the consoles wont skip frames but I've had a far higher ping over Sony's service as it simply doesn't have the server power to compete with Xbox Live at this time, it gets the job done but it's nothing special. |

PSN is very poor compared to Live? I don't think so, show me one game on Live that has 256 players in one map... The only features Live has over PSN is voice messaging and cross game chat, those are the main bullets on the list Live has over PSN and to be honest PSN is newer and Live was pretty bare bones when it first came out on the original Xbox but PSN made major strides to catch up. In 2006 it lacked features and just plain content, it was barren, but now it has a lot of content. With PSN, the only problems as far as lag that I've had were on crappy P2P games like Modern Warfare 2(which is P2P on Live as well). Live is only slightly ahead of PSN in terms of features and lag goes. |

I own MAG and I do enjoy playing it from time to time, but I am not speaking of the mass amounts of players that you can shove into a game. I'm sure Microsoft could support a 256 player game if they wanted to but the fact of the matter is that it creates a huge stress on your servers. Also, while MAG decided to dive into this MMO shooter sort of territory, the game loses stability with the more players you throw at it, Suppression and Acquisition are the most stable and enjoyable game modes while Domination (the 256 player mode) is prone to suffering from intense bursts of lag due to the fact that all of the players connecting have a wide variety of PING and due to the fact that most of the games servers are not operated by Sony, they are operated primarily by Zipper for domestic US gameplay.. so I am fortunate to be so close to the company in Redmond which helps my connection.. but these private "master servers" are not particularly large and at least twice a week it seems like the game goes completely offline for at least 2 hours to rest those servers, as they are being over utilized. I'm not arguing whether or not MAG is an impressive game, it is a solid shooter that is very bold, but the PSN does not offer a consistent service across all of its games, is far less reliable as far as connection quality is concerned in comparison to XBL, and MAG is not a very impressive game to play in a 256 player lag/high-PINGfest. Anyway, one game does not necessarily make or break a service, and for all its ups and downs, MAG hurts the PSN just as much as it makes it attractive... and I need not dive into describing the ungodly wait times that you have to endure to actually get in a game. Also, as far as content is concerned, Sony still has a long way to go to catch up with the XBL Marketplace. |

Huh. I think Sony is winning the console wars, guys. I mean, it's no real surprise what with the bajillions of great games that the PS2 brought to the table, but you know. It kinda does my metal heart good to see Sony kick serious ass in the sales. Now let's see some games for the PS3. |
