I lately been wishing I was popular (mainly online). I would be nice to have fans or members to have strong support for me. Just knowing you have a lot of people that care and cheer for you makes you feel good. But mainly, I been wishing I was popular on Deviantart. I been to wonder if my art just sucks and nobody cares to watch or support me. Yet I see others who have more than a 1,000 watchers and a bunch of mini fans of their artwork. I want fans of my own to cheer and root for my artwork. My question is, How do I get over this feeling and just feel good about myself. People say it's a self esteem problem, but still, if I have no support, well, it makes me feel hopeless and bad a bit. But then again, I shouldn't always depend on others to feel accomplished or popular... I dunno, I just wanna be well known, it's just again, feel good to be popular and semi famous. Any advice? I don't see how that will get people to be fans for you, but yes I do care greatly for the stuff I make.. So in a sense, I suppose so. Just thinking about my forum. People really did saw how much I cared and been proactive about it. In result I got A LOT of feedback in members, so I guess if I did the same at deviantart, somebody will start to like my work as well. Edited by =SF SonicPro=, Oct 25 2010, 10:28 AM.

Let me give you a personal example. In the past (circa the early 2000s), I used to be known as Minesweeper and I wrote strategy guides for GameFAQs.com. Whenever I wrote guides for games I loved, my care and attention in my work shone through. A lot of people read my guides, saw this, and praised me for my work. I got recognized by the site's then-owner CJayC a few times too. I won a few FAQ of the Month contests ($50 for each win), I won an FAQ Writer of the Month award from IGN.com once (two free $50 games) and I got my guides for Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto Vice City published in a book for $1,000. And it was all because I loved what I did and put my heart into it. I wouldn't have won otherwise. See what I mean about doing what you love? I want to thank those who posted their advice. I put more effort and uploaded more sketches of the characters I love and you guys are right, I got a lot more faves, comments and views. If I continue to put more effort and send more drawings instead of furry doll, it will gain me more attention. I also applied this thought with my music today and I gotten better feedback and views, even got people requesting and a online record deal. I feel a lot better about myself and that what I was lacking the whole time. Thanks everyone! |
