^ANOTHER DEAD TROLL^

I was being faithful and still downloaded Sonic 4 despite the screens and reviews. And lemme say this, Sonic 4 is nothing but a gimmick! The game is nothing but a mix of Sonic 1, 2 and 3 poorly combined with the physics of Sonic Rush (due to dimps) and on top of that, slapped with some Sonic Advance features. Nearly all Bandniks are recycled. ![]() Bubbles, the Sonic 3 Bandniks is seen multiple times along with crab meat and similar ones. Lemme say that in the entire trilogy series, none had recycled a bandnik and they were all original and faithful to their own sequels. Sonic 1 had crabmeat, Sonic 2 had coconuts, Sonic 3 had bubbles and so on. But hardly any new badniks and mostly "remastered" old bandniks, this is already a big gimmick which isn't impressive with the enemies. The levels are nothing but ripoffs or remastered versions. Splash Hill is obviously a remastered Green Hill Zone.. The worst Gimmick stage is the Casino Level. It is a mix of Sonic 2 Casino Level and Sonic Advance Casino level COMBINED! On top of that you have a bunch of the Sonic 3 Badnik's with bubbles in that stage. So it's a Sonic 2, 3 and Advance mixture. Lastly the Gear Zone or whatever it is. 100% rip off of Metropolis Zone of Sonic 2. I am sadly dissapointed of Sonic 4. How can they call this a sequel if this is nothing but gimmicks or remakes of stages??? This should've been named "Sonic Remastered" not Sonic 4. I just really hope they prove me wrong on these "episodes". Maybe on Episode 2 they will release tails. |

Me too, I guess I'm out. Final Words, the Classics had Gimmicks and remade stuff, not just Sonic 4. G'day! |

This was mentioned even before it's release date. Your opinion is fair enough DJ SonicFreak, however that doesn't mean we have to agree with anything you have pointed out. But yeah, I do admit most of the elements were recognisable from the earlier titles back in the 90's. But it brings that nostalgia feeling to the older crowd, while trying to draw the attention from new players. (Those who are used with 3D, and never fancied or ever had as much chance to attempt the old ones.) Most of the badniks are the same, however that so called crab monster ain't at least impossible to avoid, unlike on Sonic 2. At least I never managed to pull of a kill without loosing all of my rings. Call me a poor gamer, but that was one of those rather difficult moves to avoid. So to sum it all up, the enemies have been improved. The levels are redesigned, but that was already said before the release date. To be such a SonicFreak, you don't seem to sound like a true Sonic fan, just saying. Anyway, an opinion is an opinion and I won't even start a feud, countering your own thoughts. Overall, I thought the small cash was worth the title. Edited by DragonFlame, Oct 21 2010, 12:08 PM.

Trying to go with a theme this time

I've been trying to imply what SF said for AGES! And no one listened and instead wasted their money on this piece of crap! My friend bought the game, i went over to play it. MY GOD IT SUCKS! I really dislike it. I have almost given up all hope for SEGA and Sonic Team to create a decent game. The only thing that would revive that is if they made a Silver or Blaze Spin-off. Or if they make another Adventure-styled game. |

All I can say is that, they could have put a a little more effort in originality or not to make it so questionable with it's gimmicks. But right now, I honestly don't care if it is Sonic 1 for all I care. The PHYSICS are HORRIBLE! I been playing it some more and I got used to the concept and theme. But the friggen homing crap and the slow speed up when running with some bad physics in the game (Like standing still on the walls and etc.) is bothering me. And i hate to complain, but if a fan can make a game like Sonic 4 and master it's physics as the original (I am talking about Sonic Fan Remix) surely Sega can do the same, but they also want to make things complicated and junk. |

Oh the physics aren't that bad. I managed to work with them just fine, thanks. And for that matter, why would you even be standing still on a wall? The point of the game is to keep moving, after all. xP And I've got to love how your main gripe with this game is that it's "unoriginal", while Sonic Fan Remix, which is a very obvious remake, is somehow the greatest thing ever. Double standards are fun, kids. That said, SFR isn't without it's flaws in terms of physics and could use a little ironing out, but since it's currently a demo and was only made by two guys, that can be forgiven. And the gimmicks worked for me. I seriously don't see what was so questionable about them. Card Riding was alright, the Homing Attack transfered well into a 2D enviroment (and it's not like you have to use it ALL the time) and the Torch stage was a blast. Finally, the game was hardly "complicated", it was relatively simple. A minor adjustment on the player's part was all that was required, really. You can't expect there to be 15 years or so between releases and have no changes at all. |P |

Ah you make a point there. I dunno, this homing attack thing I just need to work around with then or simply master. I noticed I can easily abuse this and speedrun, but likewise, I probably need to get fully used to Sonic 4 before I keep running my yak. Edited by =SF SonicPro=, Oct 24 2010, 09:03 PM.

I'm still not sure how something that was blatantly advertised from the beginning of the game's conception could be so surprising. Unless you've lived under a rock for the past year and two months, to be amazed that this game is a homage to the classics is smh-worthy. It's like looking at a blue car on a lot, buying it, driving it home, then bitching that it's blue. I will agree that the physics are wonky, and I'm not sure how I feel about the dismissive attitude that the game's fans display towards them. After all, it's a direct gameplay sequel to the classic games, ergo I shouldn't be punished for playing the game like a classic game. But at the same time, the rage against them is overblown. They're mediocre physics, not tear-your-hair-out physics, thus only the most hardcore of hardcores will give as much of a shit as they have over the course of this game's development. It's nestled nicely in Flash game territory; Decidedly average in the grand scheme of things. In short, there's always Episode 2. |

I read a lot of posts but skipping over the recent mumbo jumbo, I'd like to point out that the old games did reuse ideas on badnicks. Angel Island had a monkey that was similar to coconuts on Sonic 2... Metropolis used a similar badnick to Crabmeat in Sonic 1... |

I'm not sure they're the exact same as they are in S4, but personally I think the complaint's taking the piss regardless. An enemy's design comes second to their abilities as an obstacle; Defeating enemies in Sonic is nothing more than a routine task and just standard platforming fare in general, thus I find little attachment to particular badniks. Old ones are nice for nostalgia fodder, but ultimately I wouldn't bring myself to care if they disappeared forever. Really, I weathered Egg Pawns just fine. |

This is a crap topic. We've known for ages that it was going to be a nostalgia trip, it even mentions in some pre-release stuff that Robotnik is going back to some of his older inventions and upgrading them... I vote this topic is locked, for obvious trolling - and of course, this could have been made in the existing Sonic 4 topic as earlier suggested. Sonicfreak is after attention(or am I the only one who's noticed he floods the forums with topics?) and grats guys, you gave it to him. So yeah, lock please kthanx. |

So what you're saying is that the game sucks because Silver & Blaze aren't in it. Don't you realise the audience SEGA was trying to cater for most of the time, we didn't have Silver & Blaze back in the day. Also what MoD said. |

OK, if you read carefully, Which i doesn't seem like you did kiddie, you would see i transferred into a different aspect of my argument. I said that the game was generally bad, that the only thing that would revive it was a Spin-off of my favorite characters- IN MY OWN OPINION! I did not say in ANY contexts that the next try for A throwback game must have Silver or Blaze. So, read carefully before posting, kids! Or you'll look like our friend Gary here; not to bright! @MoD I understand what you are saying, but Locking the topic is a little too over dramatic. Let people post their opinions about this eyesore of a game. just because the person who posted the topic says its a rip-off (Note this is coming from someone who LOVES the Genesis games) doesn't mean everyone agrees with him. |
