So someone made a sort of 3D video of the Sonic Doomsday boss on Sonic 3 & Knuckles. It's truly beautiful, looks better than most of Sega's 3D Sonic games, and it adds some intensity to the battle. And a bonus: Mushroom Hill 3D Side scroll gameplay! Edited by Dubbmatic, Oct 15 2010, 07:56 PM.

Well, the gameplay trailers in Sonic 06 are a really bad example. But look at the ones in Unleashed and they're better than this, not to mention any CG from Shadow the Hedgehog onwards. |

Whoa, that Doomsday one is amazing! That is what Brawl-Sonic was created to do. ![]() Ad, would it be worng to say that the 3D graphics of the Mushroom Hill zone look miles above Sonic 4's graphics? And this is from someone who loves Sonic 4. |

i've stated above, that the reason the Mushroom Hill looks better then sonic 4 is because it's not playable, the animation isn't in real time as it is in a real game. |

Do you think it would at some point be possible to achieve those types of smooth graphics on a real time side scrolling Sonic game? I would think we have the technology, only it may be hard to execute, possibly cost too much money as well.. |

A few years? We could have been done it. Just use the Hedgehog Engine and keep the camera fixed to a side-scrolling perspective. Unleashed's actual in-game graphics trump that video by miles. |

Well with that possible, I don't see why Sega and Sonic Team haven't made any attempts to take a crack at it. I understand they want to move forward and not revert their primary console games back to a side scroller, but I feel that if they did, it would be a beautiful well done game, as well as a huge success. And perhaps with the extra space saved from reducing the complete 3 dimensions down, they could fit in more levels and complexity in that sense. |
