Okay, so let's talk about Mario Paint. I must admit I have never played this game before, but I'm thinking I need to give it a whirl soon. I've seem so many youtube videos in which people take a famous song, and make its instrumental almost completely in Mario Paint.

That's a great example I must say! haha

But tell me, anyone who has played it, is it a fun game to play? To create things like that? And also, if you know any good Mario Paint Youtube songs, post em. They're fun to listen to!

I haven't played Mario Paint since I was 5, but it had a lot of artsy things. There was the music maker, an "MS Paint", a coloring book, there was a fly swatting game which I always liked playing...

It also was supposed to work nicer with a mouse style controller.

I tried using Mario Paint before. It's not as easy as it looks. But then again, I'm not a composer, soooo... ^_^;;

Check out my tumblr, Aggravated Anime-Adoring Australian, where I post all sorts of dumb screencaps and MS Paint edits and generally bitch and moan about stupid otaku shit.

Huh? What's that post above me say?

I really love it when I see some people compose in Mario paint, it just blows my mind at how much work some people put into the songs they either create or re-create. :3 Personally, I've tried it... and I don't want to ever again, it's too hard for me! xD

I'll just leave two of my personal favorites here. :3 I highly recommend you watch the latter alllll the way through. |3

If someone asks me if I'm enjoying life, unless it's something really unforgivable, I can't help but answer that I am. No matter how much despair there is, I'm satisfied with just living...Just being allowed to be here really is a wonderful thing.

I object to your claims
I read about this game in an old Nintendo Power issue from back when it was first released. For the longest time, I thought it was some kind of game developing...game. ^^;;

I got it when it was brand new, all the way back in 1993. For the time, it was extremely impressive. My favorite feature was doing pixel art with the stamps (of which you could save 16 custom ones), plus the fly-swatting game. I still have the SNES mouse, the mousepad, and the cartridge, plus my console :D

I could never really get into the music part since I've never known how to write music, but as you can see someone who's musically-inclined can make some pretty awesome stuff with it. I hear that someone actually made a standalone program for Mario Paint's music section, so you may want to check that out.

But today, I would never use it except for the nostalgic/novelty factor. You have only 16 colors to pick from, and you can only save one project (picture, animation, and music) to the cartridge. If you want to make a new project, you have to overwrite the old one. Plus it takes forever to save projects too. At first, I actually thought the save feature was broken with how long it took.

But for 1993, when I was eight years old, I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Okay yeah I didn't even know Mario Paint had all those different possibilities. Though in essence it sounds like a very condensed version of what ms paint is along with a music producing program that only uses a certain set of sounds. So it doesn't sound all too exciting... but still interesting enough to want to play at some point. I wonder if I downloaded the rom, I could play it with my mouse, given the whole mouse compatibility of the original game.

:D Ah, Mario Paint. The Educational Game with infinite replay value. I bought this game with an SNES and mouse about 3 - 4 months ago. People tell me to hand onto it, for it's worth something as of now.. I'm not really sure I believe that however. Infact. I'm playing it right now.

For an old video game to really be worth something, it needs to stay sealed in its box with the original plastic wrap. Those are the copies that go for $100 or more on eBay. Sorry, but since your copy is not in that condition, it would sell for more like $20-30. And that covers the cartridge, mouse, and mouse pad all together. Plus, if it has a "Greatest Hits" label, the set is going to be worth even less.

I believe the game originally retailed for about $70-80 when it was new, and that was in 1993 dollars.
