Thank you for checking out Sonic Blast! We try to go above and beyond what is expected in a Sonic forum or any forum in general. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Sonic Blast sets itself apart with a genius ranking system that is modeled after a monarchy styled government based around the Sonic Universe, brilliant skins themed from Sonic based characters and classic Sonic Zones from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on Sega Genesis, entertaining topics, contests, and a highly detailed, well written, indexed rule system for your convenience with many more thrilling features and over two years of being online!

Despite the monarchy styled ranks for our staff, Sonic Blast is a democratic forum and listens to member's suggestions, giving members a bigger say in what takes place. We are lenient and do not rule over people with an iron fist. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

I decided to make a tutorial to help encourage people to try doing original sprites. It's really not that difficult.

This is precisely what we need. I'm thinking maybe this deserves a pin...? Not sure, maybe someone else can give a second opinion, because we definitely need a few more original sprites here instead of recolors all the time.

Pretty much. But I hate it when people judge all the sprites people make as noobish recolors.

I try to make my sprites as original I as I can you know.>_>

Nice tutorial though.

I used this strategy to make some fighter plane sprites using the blueprint sketches as a guideline. Nice to see someone's put up a tutorial for it, I'm sure many people can benefit from using this method.

...und wenn sie nur eine einzige meiner Regeln brechen, dann werden sie feststellen, dass es ein Leben nach dem Tode gibt. Ein sehr schmerzhaftes Leben.
Entweder sie aktzeptieren das, oder sterben!

Shading is kind of basic there, maybe I could make an advanced shading tutorial. Well, if I can be bothered. >_<''

Well, as I said in the tutorial, once you reach step three you can either choice not to shade or do so. They can shade however they want. I don't like cartoons being super defined so I did a basic shade.

It sure beats a recolor.

I'll sticky if nothing else comes along. It's a good tutorial, my only objection is the lack of detail on how to make an outline of your character, to avoid scrunching, to shade and highlight. It's a good sketch of how to make a custom-sprite, but someone who wasn't already very well-versed in spriting (i.e. already knew how to draw them, and color them) would still be rather lost after reading it. I'm looking for something a little more comprehensive and detailed for a pin.
