Sandopolis Act 2
Basic Information:

Name: Taylor Richard Hiss
Alias: "Torch", "Vagrant"
Age: Looks about 27, actual age unknown
Gender: Male
Species: Half-human, half-"fairy"
Date of birth: Unknown.
Related Tangent: Date of Adoption: 5/18
Place of birth: Unknown.
Related Tangent: Adoptive Home: Kairani, a regional capital in a world known as "Vosadi".
Current residence: [DATA REDACTED] "Don't think you'll get that so easy."
Occupation: Mercenary/investigator; specializing in location and retrieval of objects and persons. A sub-specialty is analysis of folklore, often to assist with the "location" aspect of this job.
Alignment: Neutral/Good (feigns apathy, but is ultimately altruistic)

Physical Description:

Image (If Available): [link]
Height: About six feet tall
Weight: 140-150 pounds
Appearance: Taylor has neck-to-shoulder-length copper hair, styled in a distinctive way that seems to be inspired by a lion's mane. This odd hair and matching brown eyes are contrasted by his fairly bright skin color and lean build. Below his right shoulder is a tattoo of some kind of claw, supposedly a dragon's, done in black.
Attire: Taylor's usual outfit consists of some kind of black bomber jacket, with a dark blue shirt beneath the coat and a dark blue or black pair of jeans with a leather belt.

Personal Information:

Personality: Taylor is generally a nice guy, if a little bit impulsive, rude and blunt. However, he's got a pretty short temper when insulted, and when he loses it, he gets riled up, violent, insulting, loud... “explosive,” even. He also carries guilt from a few other incidents he doesn't like to talk about, and tries to keep himself distant so as not to endanger people he thinks should not be endangered. But behind that, he's got an altruistic streak a mile long, and can't refuse an honest request for help if he can give it.
Hobbies/Talents: Taylor's pretty good at small-scale, precise work, especially if heat or fire can be used to help. Metalworking, general artifice, cooking... those sorts of fields are some of the simpler things Taylor enjoys doing.
Likes: Travel, warm climates, going new places, spicy/exotic foods, weird architecture; anything "new" to him.
Dislikes: Cold climates, authority, and pretty much anything meant to waste his time. The commoditification of people, when it occurs, tends to set off his temper fairly easily as well.
Items Aside from his weaponry and outfit, the only notable item on his person is a silver-and-pewter pendant made into the shape of some kind of bird, some amalgam of an albatross and the phoenix of legend.
Vehicles: None that work...
Trivia:

Relationships:
(Note: you want your character in this listing, PM me. Blue italicized text is character commentary.)

Family: Zeruel Shenar, adoptive brother, fate currently unknown
Tairan Shenar, adoptive father, fate currently unknown
Myras Shenar, adoptive mother, fate currently unknown
"I just hope they aren't dead..."
Close Friends:
Tai Sabath (owned by a member of another forum, "Red the Alternate") "The 'King of Wisdom', and a decent friend, for a deity. Though I hate it when he gives me the runaround..."
Red Sabath (owned by a member of another forum, "Red the Alternate") "Okay, frankly, Red's a bit of a jackass. But he's also constant. Immutable. I know when I can trust him, and those times he's invaluable to have at my back.
Crobalt "Cronic" Crystalis (owned by a member of another forum, "Twilight Diviner") "Let's just say we both work the same kind of jobs, and leave it at that, alright? The guy's got advantages, and I know, if we're on the same job, he'll have my back nineteen times out of twenty, with number twenty being the time I've got his."
Other Friends:
Koren Sorilet Korca (owned by a member of another forum, "Lucifer's Shadow", deceased) "This guy helped me get into the bounty-hunter biz. Yeah, I know, he was a carreer killer, but he wasn't really that bad a guy for the most part.."

Battle Information:

Skills: Taylor's basic fighting skills cover general fist- and knife-fighting techniques that, while inelegant, tend to be very effective when he lands them. Taylor is also a skilled marksman, though having a sniper rifle possessed by the spirit of what may have been a master of that trade has certainly helped.
Techniques: Taylor often uses pyrokinesis to significantly boost his melee capability, literally allowing him to punch above his weight class. However, he can sacrifice raw power to add range to his flame techniques for more surgical attacks.
His most spectacular (and only named) such technique, referred to as the "Starburst," entails him conjuring a multitude of small fireballs to scatter across a fairly wide area, which then are detonated, either in stages or simultaneously.
Defensively speaking, he can use superheated air pockets to create visual mirages and 'displace' his image, making it easier for him to dodge when attacked. However, sustaining these images is exhausting.
Strengths: Taylor is immune to fire at its most commonly-found intensities; he's very agile and good at swapping strategies on the fly; and he heals fairly quickly when not getting beaten into crap. He's also a bit of a brawler, using his pyrogenetic and pyrokinetic abilities to leave a larger and more lasting impact on his foes.
Also, despite his unstable lifestyle, he seems to have a certain charisma that makes some curious about him, and even if he's not exactly insightful, he's easy to work with.
Weaknesses: Taylor's powers over fire are weakened or shorted out when trying to use them in, on, or against cold, ice, or water. This applies to these "elements" found naturally or wielded in supernatural techniques against him. His ranged fire techniques are fairly weak on their own, as well. Image displacement by refracting light through pockets of hot air takes a lot of concentration and is physically exhausting. His lack of a specific martial art leaves him very open between attacks in melee combat; and his sniper rifle's low rate of fire limits its use in proper combat except as a pre-emptive strike or a coup de grace.
Also, Taylor has minimal sense of time for stretches much longer than a week. He'd forget his own birthday if he lost access to a calendar.
Weapons: Taylor's constant weaponry is a pair of firearms: One is a black and glossy high-caliber Desert-Eagle or similar model with heavy after-market modifications with a flame design etched on the slide plating. The other is a dark green sniper rifle (referred to as the "Komodo's Snipe") of a model similar to the Remington Model 700 line of rifles, again with heavy after-market modifications, including the "installation" of the spirit of its former owner. Said rifle is purportedly more than one thousand years old, supposedly due to temporal displacement of its original owner.
Related Tangent: The spirit in the rifle, known only as "Cain", seems to have a similar outlook to Taylor, but more levelheaded and calculating. This can likely be attributed to the fact that the spirit is much more experienced than Taylor is.

History: Taylor doesn't talk much about his pre-world-jumping past; but what he does reveal was that he'd apparently been abandoned by his birth parents, but adopted into a decent family and had a fairly peaceful upbringing before circumstances forced him away from them and he had awakened his ability to jump worlds.
The first other world he landed in, which he would eventually come to know as "Konta", became a "home-base" of sorts for him as he abandoned his old life and formed a new one from the ashes, exchanging the craft of a settled artisan for that of a vagrant bounty hunter, and adopted his current name, "Taylor Hiss". During this time of transition, under the brutal training of the career killer Koren Korca, he learned about a greater, multi-world paranormal scene and became acquainted with beings one would consider deities. One such incident involving his instructor, a de facto invasion of Konta by refugees from an uncertain future, resulted in Taylor recieving his now-signature rifle, the Komodo's Snipe.
A deity that spent much time among mortals, Tai Sabath, took an interest in Taylor, however, due to the jumper's tenacity, and would put him in contact with higher orders of deity, and myriad apocalyptic plots. Taylor would display a penchant for fighting above his apparent weight class, and a willingness to sacrifice his own happiness for the greater good.
At the inevitable point Taylor decided he had had enough in trying to fight alongside gods, running himself ragged, and attempted to settle down and start an investigative business. Still, wanderlust grips the jumper from time to time, and he revolves between three places he's eked out, taking on cases that interest him, and becoming a collector and scholar of myth in addition.
A recent kidnapping case has been found to have crossworld undertones, and Taylor is currently pursuing leads that may lead to the nerve center of a potential sentient-trafficking operation...

Indeed, there is nothing more repulsive than these monsters that defy nature and are known by the name of witcher, as they are the offspring of foul sorcery and witchcraft. They are unscrupulous scoundrels without conscience and virtue, veritable creatures from hell capable only of taking lives. They have no place amongst decent and honest folk.
