Clearly you don't understand that the song is about being addicted to drugs. Spoiler: click to toggle Let me dissect it for you, because it's irritating to see someone not really listen to the meanings of a damn fine song and completely miss the point of a great band with great music that is very well known for having their songs sound pretty good on the surface, but then be somewhat analytical on politics/religion/etc when you "Tip the iceberg". Brett had a drug problem a while back. You know, the guy singing the song. "When I need to sate" is when he's talking about the cravings of his drugs and his urge to extinguish them, "...into oblivion" is the reference to the high that he "accelerates" into, which I think is a very clear indication that the song is about drugs. "When measured in the vein" At that point, subtlety is lost completely. The song isn't about Sonic at all, and is rather a response to the horror of the modern world. "I just want to live decently, meaningfully..." suggests shame at using drugs as an escape. The song isnt an excuse for drug abuse, but just says why people turn to it to escape their realities. "I'm in misery", the line after the previous song is explaining life without the drug. Cycle continues. Psst. I'm not making this up. That's just straight up what the song is about. Not gonna bother with the entire description because I highly doubt you care. Also spoiler tag added and nit-pick is done, because it happens. So. Maddeningly. Often. Oh, okay. Contribution. Back in the day, Robotnik. Powerman 5000 - Supervillian. ~YOU'RE A KILLER OF CULTURE, A VULTURE OF STYLE; AND IT WON'T BE LONG BEFORE YOU END UP ON TRIAL~! Shadow? Atreyu - Slow Burn. Feels like it fits him because he's predictable like that. Boo hoo. I've got something eating away at me. Yeah, big deal broski. Rebirth - Hadouken! works somewhat for Knuckles if you take into account his penchant for totally f##king up the master emerald, and always somehow managing to maintain the status-quo when everything is said and done, and also the band's words pretty much not meaning a whole lot. I uh, guess. Dying in A Minor - The Angelic Process. Takal. Dunno why. Just get a really Takal vibe going on from the whole song, even if there aren't any words. They're mostly stuff I like or find catchy, but there's not a lot of them. I don't listen to Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga or any of the popular stuff, for example. That said, I have a non-Sonic song for Sonic himself: "SURV1V3" from Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. The chorus goes: Drift away to free my soul Drive away to free my will Fade into the air Just to stay alive ...yeah, its a very Sonic-ish song, both musically and lyrically... But I cater the song more to my own Super Klonoa, really. lol
