We've seen on at least a couple of occasions that Shadow has a tendency to use up vast amounts of energy quickly, leaving him very vulnerable to damage; The most famous example of such nearly cost him his life. And the fact that the only idea Sega imported from Sonic X were his bracelets' ability to inhibit his output of energy only further justifies this as being fact.

Mentally, it is Shadow's overwhelming objectivity that leaves him vulnerable to immoral behavior, manipulation, and ultimately social ostracization. Shadow is not as loyal as other characters; He is capable of murdering to achieve his ends as well as walking away from tragedy he can prevent. And it is with this knowledge that society has a habit of keeping his butt cryogenically frozen at the slightest hint of upset.

Also, Shadow doesn't whine. Amy whines when Sonic leaves her side without her noticing. Cream whines when the television goes out. Shadow reminisces about genuine problems while attempting to rectify said problems or he simply clams up, the latter being something other cast members could take a note of. Ironically enough, Shadow hasn't reflected on anything about his past for half a decade, yet his detractors continue to bring it up as if it's remotely relevant to his current characterization.

tl;dr-- Shadow has flaws and doesn't "whine." The fact that these keep being toted as valid criticisms of the character is nothing short of outstanding.
i completely agree with you.
shadows not a horrible character.
and he hasnt talked about maria since shadow the hedgehog.
if u played the final boss and saw the ending cutscene he threw away a picture of gerald and maria. he had finally found a way to stop living in the past.
some fans and shadow haters are just too damn busy whining over his personality and chracter to see how good he is.
beside every hero has to have an anti hero or rival
examples:
goku and vegeta(dbz)
Naruto and sasuke
luffy and zoro(one piece)
Ash and gary(pokemon)
if you have time to worry then you have time to run and never look back

I don't care too much for him.

EDIT: I think he's annoyingly dark to be in a Sonic game. I mean, that whole Shadow the Hedgehog 2005 game was just an abomination in my opinion... What was the point in giving him guns? Yeah, I know he's supposed to be "dark" but dark for a children's genre should still be much lighter than say something you'd see in Ultimate Spider-Man... and for everyone who says he's original, you know he's just the typical dark doppelganger to the light and happy hero, right? Nothing original about him. The whole motorcycle thing just makes me think of Wolverine... The whole gun thing? The Punisher. The whole "I'm good in my own way, I just don't like the hero" thing? Venom.

I still can't use this.

Just a reminder: Next time you're to bump a discussion topic, make sure that you put more effort into it beyond a simple sentence. Some elaboration on your opinion would've been preferred.

I hope this will be enough to suffice, because I would like to add my input.

I think he was a very good potential villain. If he had stayed evil, it would have helped balance out the character alignments ('cause well know that there are WAY too many good guys.). And certainly with the amount of power he has inside him, he could be the ultimate villain, second only to Eggman himself. And he would only need to appear every couple of games so that he doesn't hog the spotlight.

You know, after reading that it made me think a bit and I have to ask this question. Are their any bad guys in Sonic, at all? Everyone is either good or neutral. Even Eggman as done some good deeds himself. I would like to see a character who is completely cold and heartless, besides a boss.

What about the ones from the story book series, Erazor Djinn and the Dark Queen? And the one from sonic Chronicle (man that was an anti-climax boss).

"STELLAAAAAAAA!" "MARIAAAAAAAAAAA!".
I know this is completely late, but I ****ing love what you did there.

To me, Shadow is one of those types who are equal, if not, worse than Sasuke and Shinn Asuka. Personality is derp, but design is decent.

I kind of knew someone would bring him up. Wasn't he just a boss though? I never played Sonic 06 (or whatever game he came from) so I don't know much about him really. I guess he could count though if he's not dead or whatever.

You mean the comics? I never read any of em except the very first issue I believe, and that was thanks to SMC. Never played SC either so I can't judge the boss you speak of.

lol, Ped's talking about Secret Rings, Black Knight, and Chronicles.

And while Djinn kinda counts as a complete monster, and I know nothing about Ix, Merlina is definitely not "cold and heartless". I do believe she was doing what she believed was right for her kingdom because she didn't want to see her world fall. She probably turned good again after her ultimate defeat after Black Knight.

Oh, duh *facepalm* Erazor Djinn is the genie from Secret Rings. Now that game I have played. Ped threw me off with "story book series".
