I thought Resistance 1 was just okay at best, and when I was finished I didn't care about playing through it again. Perhaps it's because the Chimera didn't make interesting opponents, from a character perspective. They're just monsters flung at you to fight, with no actual main characters among them. I guess it was kind of interesting seeing how Chimera are created, but other than that I only saw them as speed bumps between me and the end of the game. Compare that to the Combine in Half Life. Dr. Breen's the only real character on their side, but he was memorable and added to the game all the same. The bad guys really need to have a visible, interesting leader for you to fight against. Or how about all the alien races and characters within the Coventant (three C's?!) in Halo? The dynamics and politics between all the different groups are fun to watch too. I'll be looking towards a press event soon, if not just to talk about the pics. As for the Resistance 1, I liked it and they were designed interestingly. I liked the gameplay of Resistance with the neat guns and art design, but I see what you are saying. On Resistance 2(which is a Greatest Hit now) there was a main enemy called dadaelus. Well he was the main antagonist among the Chimera(although he didn't really have much character as he was mostly far away causing problems for you) and there are also new different types of enemies in the second. The Chameleons, grims, etc. Resistance 3 I can see it being that the war was completely lost and there are only a few survivors hiding for their lives, at least that's what it looked like on the teaser trailer from GamesCom.

It will be the first details of the game so far and it's looking good! It's confirmed that Nathan Hale will not be the main character, it will be Joseph Capelli from the second game. Wow, that Chimera looks amazing. It certainly can't compare to the sheer proportions of the Leviathan from the second game though. I haven't been able to play any of the resistance games sadly, but I know I REALLY WANT TO! I'm so behind on Gaming right now its really not funny, when I finally do get a ps3, I'll be so lost on what to play, its sad really. D: Also those screens on the first post look amazing as well.
