Launch Base Act 2
I was going through some old topics I made, and came across one I forgot about but should have been discussed more. I'm not bringing the topic up now, but I came across a post int he topic that astounded me:

Majority is law. If majority wanted alt gameplay I would support it even if I hated it. I'd just either deal with it or not play the games.

What I'm thinkin' is, the poster supports Majority opinion on sonic game to a point that it should dictate how sonic games should be made, and even his own support to something he doesn't even like.

My question here is: Should the majority opinion be the force behind how sonic games are made, as opposed to being made by the will of the license holders, like most games are made? If so, who are is the real majority? There are people who say the majority doesn't want certain things, but for every one person who says this, there another person who wants the other. Example: One majority wants sonic only and classic gameplay, Basically sonic 4 (to a point). The other actually enjoys alternative gameplay mechanics, and wants sonic games that follow suite, the most requested being Sonic adventure 3.

I still can't use this.

There is no overwhelming majority with the exception of people who simply want good Sonic games anyways. The people who squabble the most are hardcores fans on message boards, a demographic that doesn't make up any sort of majority. Remember, there's millions of Sonic fans the world over, most of whom are little kids who have absolutely no idea about the basics of game theory to even warrant giving any meaningful input to Sonic Team. The developers can take general concepts to heart and throw in a little fan service here and there, but I wouldn't want a significant public-to-developer relationship. Just let them keep doing what they're doing now; They're gaining confidence back and still making money anyways.

"I didn't use the whole thing ...."
At the end of the day Sega will do what Sega want to do with the Sonic games, and people that complain about it will still buy them by the bucket load so it really makes little difference.

Appealing to popularity (argumentum ad populum) in a debate is actually regarded as fallacious. Obviously the fans haven't read up on their debating terminology lately.

I object to your claims
Many people didn't want the werehog. And SEGA still kept that.

Many people didn't want Sonic to use a sword. And SEGA still kept that gimmick.

Many people don't want green eyes in Sonic 4. And SEGA is still keeping that.

The point is, even if majority rules (and as Bliz pointed out, there's no huge majority), ultimately, its SEGA's decision about what kind of gameplay, artistic, music, ect, elements are in the games.
