I know that his middle name in the comics is supposed to be Maurice. In fact... Spoiler: click to toggle I have read that Sonic's first name was supposed to be Olgive, or however you spell it. However, the former has definitely been retconned out and the latter is mostly ignored, just leaving Sonic as his officially used name (although said middle name did create some fridge brilliance in the most recent Mammoth Mogul arc, with Miles, Mighty and Mina also being involved in the events). In the games, there has been no name but Sonic, so there shouldn't be any confusion there.

Nonetheless, there's a note about it at the very bottom of this article, and given Ian's response, it appears that the former stated names will be ignored in favour of Sonic, even if the canonicity is debated.
