Article Yup... I didn't even know you could farm lions... I didn't even know people ATE lions... Besides, isn't carnivore meat... bad? When you eat a lion, you're eating every gazelle that lion's been with... But, anyway. I think the real controversy is, How the hell do you justify celebrating the World Cup by eating one of the most well-known (animal) symbols of Africa in the first place? That's like celebrating Independence Day by roasting a bald eagle... Sort of. The second controversy is: "What the hell? I ordered lion meat! I'm definitely tasting tiger with a hint of puma!" I need Xhibit for this one. I think the oddest thing about this is that, after a bit of web surfing, I can't find anything on lions traditionally being eaten in Africa, which means this whole burger fiasco (also appearing in Florida restaurants, too) is about as American-born as the fortune cookie. What? Are we bored of the million (read: billions) of cows, chicken, and pigs sent to slaughter? Is alligator, kangaroo, and ostrich not exotic enough, anymore? When is the "I wonder what that tastes like!" gonna end? Discuss |D. EDIT: Nevermind, I can rant about lions being eaten. And I will. Quietly. To myself. EDIT2: If you've heard of lions traditionally or culturally being eaten in Africa, please let me know. Thanks. Edited by Lil Avii, Jun 24 2010, 11:52 AM.

Sorry for my ridiculously long posts all the time! 8P Avii's Famous Last Words: Cos, If you are reading this message, then I have literally dug myself into a hole from which I cannot escape, and desperately need someone to /tp to. It's... It's dark and... I think there's something down here with me. So cold. Starving... " PS: I was digging an accessway straight down to the new tunnel. My calculations were off. I seem to have hit bedrock...." PPS: I can't see the sky from here... - Avii, Playing Minecraft with survival teammates | |

At first I found this weird. Then I found it funny. Then I found it just perverse. I mean, wtf, what's so wrong with your everyday beef and chicken to make you bother eat that? I'm not saying that lion meat itself is weird, but people who are going to eat it 'just for the hell of it' are. P. S.

No, just no. Ok ima be the animal rights activist here. I think this is just wrong. If its a wild animal I dont think it sould be killed or eaten. Im not a veagan or anything, I eat meat but I wont eat a wild animal that is slaughtered by humans just for the heck of it. I mean Koreans eating dogs and now this? Might as well light up the grill and eat kittens or whatever else looks appetizing. *sigh* Well I guess since mankind feels the need to kill something that they can easily over power they'll kill it. There's no stopping this violent being we call human. Sad. |

Flying Battery Act 2

I feel rather indifferent about this myself. If it were the only thing available at a restaurant, I'd probably eat it and just shrug it off later. They're lions raised on a farm, so they're pretty much just like the domesticated cows, chickens, and pigs I eat on a regular basis. The only difference is they're more exotic. If these were wild lions that are being killed and captured, I would definitely be more up in arms about it though. That would be affecting animal habitats and whatnot, but this sounds like a self-contained thing. Edited by Nail Strafer, Jun 28 2010, 01:11 PM.

I made that image just to demonstrate how people are going to eat weird things just because they're available to them. It's still not nearly as horror-inducing as the idea of a (warning, nausea-inducing text ahead) Spoiler: click to toggle

cats are stringy, not enough meat to them. as said previously, I just don't understand. you mean if you have say, a rabbit with you, and a means to prepare and cook it, but nothing else to eat, you wouldn't eat the rabbit? It's called survival. everything on this planet's gonna eat. Nature does it all the time. does that mean humans shouldn't be natural? |

Just because something is natural doesn't mean it doesn't or shouldn't have moral consequences in human society. This is why cannibalism isn't accepted (and is still iffy even if one's survival is in question) despite the fact that animals cannibalize each other with nary a thought. The animal in question in this topic will cannibalize its young. This isn't even for nutrition either but because males can't stand the thought of being adoptive, so they kill the cub and procreate with its own mother. How do you think that would go down if a human being did it and tried to claim to a court that his actions were natural and thus he should be excused? xP |
