I still can't use this.

Due to a really retarded mistake I made while spring cleaning coupled with extremely iffy coding of Zetaboard's forum functions, the original Sonic 4 topic is now permanently gone. Let the facepalms rain down upon me while I get on with the task of trying to restore the FAQ.

But hey, maybe this is a blessing in disguise; The original topic was a disaster anyways and it gives us the chance to start fresh, and right on time for E3 no less! And to keep this topic less argumentative than the last, I point you to the message I posted at the bottom of the Colors FAQ. No more bullcrap, mm'kay kids? Keep on topic and stop complaining about Sega's shenanigans. It's all very taxing on me.

THE GAME

Gameplay: Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 is the heralded direct sequel to the original Sonic The Hedgehog trilogy; Fittingly, the game promises the return of pinball physics, branching level design, and a more simplistic and slower platforming experience. Sonic's repertoire from titles such as Rush and Unleashed is stripped down to his original moveset with the exception of the Homing Attack. Other classic staples return including entire level motifs, enemies, bosses, the Sonic 1 Special Stage, and the Small Animals, the use of bright aesthetics, and a soundtrack with a distinct 16-bit sound and inspiration done by the original Sonic 3 composer.

Locations

  • Splash Hill Zone: A beautiful coastal area filled with rolling hills and an everlasting feeling of summer, Splash Hill Zone is the embodiment of an adventurous paradise. As Sonic races through the smooth slopes and crisp rivers, he will also witness a spectacular sunset view from the top of the hills.
  • Lost Labyrinth: Eggman began his latest research in the remains of this labyrinth. Mysterious traps including giant boulders, moving walls, and endless waterways deter any curious explorers. If Sonic gets in over his head, make sure to look for air bubbles nearby!
  • Casino Street Zone: A bright and busy casino-inspired theme park, where shining neon lights fill the streets. Casino Street Zone is bustling with elaborate pinball areas and powerful cannons, so time your movement well to guarantee your chance of survival. If luck is on your side, why not explore for a moment and try your hand at the slots?
  • Mad Gear Zone
  • E.G.G Station Zone

Cast:

  • Sonic The Hedgehog: Our legendary hero returns! With the Death Egg finally destroyed and Angel Island back in the sky, Sonic decides it's time to take a break and heads off to explore a new territory on his own. However, unbeknownst to Sonic, Eggman has also survived their last encounter and has begun taking measures to rid himself of our hero. Armed with his signature Speed, super Spin Dash, and powerful Homing Attack, Sonic is ready for an all-new adventure!
  • Dr. Eggman: After losing the Master Emerald during his last encounter with Sonic, Eggman regroups with a new objective; to revisit and refine the best of his creations in an effort to finally rid himself of Sonic!

I just hope they eventually compile all of the episodes onto a disc.
Oh god I hope they do so I actually get this game...

Actually, to solve the whole controversy theory, Sega could have just made it so the person who's playing the game can either choose modern mode or classic mode (change only Sonic and Eggman). That would have solved the whole problem. Probably would have taken a lot more time to do this though...

Yes, Sega's going to take the time to please one person to allow you play as a black eyed Sonic and Eggman with his old jacket or something along with new Sonic and Eggman. /sarcasm

Ray, like I said, there is no controversy. You're the only one making a big deal out of this. Nobody else is. Thus it's not a controversy.
Look up Sonic 4 green eyes on google and see if I'm the only one making a big deal at it.

Maybe at this forum I am, but overall, no. Others have had a problem with it as well. I'm just one who doesn't mind speaking out about it.

Controversy or not, it's a problem at hand. To me, it's a controversy otherwise you wouldn't be "debating" with me about it.

Let me just record that I posted a way to fix the problem. You were the one who initiated the argument this time. I gave a logical way to fix it and you jump on my case. This is why I respond.
I only found two links about people actually complaining about his Green eyes.

Give me more then that if you want it to be a controversy. Like the majority of the Sonic fan base and I'll be convinced.

And stop giving me the 'To me it's a' whatever crap. The point is, it's NOT. And that's that.

And let me tell you that I simply replied to your simple response. Telling you Sega is probably not going to make a separate mode and what's the definition of a controversy. Tell me, who's going to every topic moaning by mentioning SOMETHING about the green eyes? You. You're purposely trying to piss people off and we're all getting sick of it.

That's it. You're the first person to be on my ignored list. Goodbye.

Yep, I'm the only one that cares about Sonic having green eyes:
http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/bring-the-classic-sonic-to-sonic-the-hedgehog-4.html

You are really making this argument harder on yourself than it should be. I'm only talking about the game "in my opinion" as I have said. Obviously you oppose my opinion if you disagree with me saying "in my opinion". You can't say that it is NOT in my opinion, because in fact, it's my opinion, and what I say for my opinion goes with my opinion, and not anyone else's opinion.

Now back to the game. A simple way to solve this whole argument would be if Sega did their job and reached out to everyone. The ability to play as both a modern Sonic or classic Sonic would solve this problem and make most fans happy. If Sega would only do it in all their games, they'd compromise and make more people happy.

Why the hell did you bring up the "controversy" and invite another goddamned argument, Sonic Adventure 2? And Fenroar, why did you start arguing with him instead of ignoring him from the beginning?

I'm tired of talking; Anymore of these irrelevant arguments about "controversy" will be worth an automatic warning.

I thought he would improve so I was always hesitant about putting him on the ignored list but obviously I had it with his statements and probably should have just ignored him from the beginning. Sorry. ^^'

But I'll hopefully not argue any more so my apologies.

I brought it up by saying Sega could compromise. I was trying to say that if it worked out both parties would be satisfied.

Then Fenroar just didn't like the idea, so he argued and pretty much claimed the idea not in his favor.

Compromising is a bit better than let's say... bashing. I wasn't doing that until he argued back to me. I was saying that if Sonic Team had both the classic Sonic and modern Sonic in the game, it would satisfy all.

Now what's wrong with saying that? You all just jump out and attack me anyway, don't you?

I said nothing about bashing nor did I single you out. I said you guys' argument was irrelevant to the current discussion. Talk about the game instead of bringing up and responding to "controversy" because that's all you'll cause-- controversy. Now no more about this-- You're on thin ice with staff right now, SA2.

I never said you singled me out. I just said everyone jumps on what I say about the game. I was defending myself.

The controversy happens to be ABOUT this game. The controversy developed from the production of this game.

I don't see why it's a problem, but I'll stop so long as people stop jumping and lashing their arguments back at me from a simple mention of the controversy not even intended to start an argument.

And I'm not trying to ignore the issue. Everyone claims I'm ignoring them, yet they say I start controversy when I argue. If I'm ignoring them, how can I do this? I only ignore hateful comments. None of these have I posted, but several I have endured. People are out there just to argue with me (won't mention names).

I have a sinking feeling in my gut that it will go for about 1000 Wii points just because they know it will sell well.

Well guys, a little thing called the Japan Expo is gonna be in full swing for the next few days, and Sega's participating with S4, SA1 (dunno why), and Colors. Here's the first bit of footage-- Not new or long, but maybe it's a little taste of what'll come.

Besides, Retro or SSMB will undoubtedly examine it enough that there will be plenty to talk about :P

SA1 is also 12 years old. Free Riders, however, is still in the womb. =/

Anyways, that guy seemed to know what he was doing compared to the entire lot of our E3 players. Minus being stuck on a few hills, he progressed well.
