I still can't use this.

Due to a really retarded mistake I made while spring cleaning coupled with extremely iffy coding of Zetaboard's forum functions, the original Sonic 4 topic is now permanently gone. Let the facepalms rain down upon me while I get on with the task of trying to restore the FAQ.

But hey, maybe this is a blessing in disguise; The original topic was a disaster anyways and it gives us the chance to start fresh, and right on time for E3 no less! And to keep this topic less argumentative than the last, I point you to the message I posted at the bottom of the Colors FAQ. No more bullcrap, mm'kay kids? Keep on topic and stop complaining about Sega's shenanigans. It's all very taxing on me.

THE GAME

Gameplay: Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 is the heralded direct sequel to the original Sonic The Hedgehog trilogy; Fittingly, the game promises the return of pinball physics, branching level design, and a more simplistic and slower platforming experience. Sonic's repertoire from titles such as Rush and Unleashed is stripped down to his original moveset with the exception of the Homing Attack. Other classic staples return including entire level motifs, enemies, bosses, the Sonic 1 Special Stage, and the Small Animals, the use of bright aesthetics, and a soundtrack with a distinct 16-bit sound and inspiration done by the original Sonic 3 composer.

Locations

  • Splash Hill Zone: A beautiful coastal area filled with rolling hills and an everlasting feeling of summer, Splash Hill Zone is the embodiment of an adventurous paradise. As Sonic races through the smooth slopes and crisp rivers, he will also witness a spectacular sunset view from the top of the hills.
  • Lost Labyrinth: Eggman began his latest research in the remains of this labyrinth. Mysterious traps including giant boulders, moving walls, and endless waterways deter any curious explorers. If Sonic gets in over his head, make sure to look for air bubbles nearby!
  • Casino Street Zone: A bright and busy casino-inspired theme park, where shining neon lights fill the streets. Casino Street Zone is bustling with elaborate pinball areas and powerful cannons, so time your movement well to guarantee your chance of survival. If luck is on your side, why not explore for a moment and try your hand at the slots?
  • Mad Gear Zone
  • E.G.G Station Zone

Cast:

  • Sonic The Hedgehog: Our legendary hero returns! With the Death Egg finally destroyed and Angel Island back in the sky, Sonic decides it's time to take a break and heads off to explore a new territory on his own. However, unbeknownst to Sonic, Eggman has also survived their last encounter and has begun taking measures to rid himself of our hero. Armed with his signature Speed, super Spin Dash, and powerful Homing Attack, Sonic is ready for an all-new adventure!
  • Dr. Eggman: After losing the Master Emerald during his last encounter with Sonic, Eggman regroups with a new objective; to revisit and refine the best of his creations in an effort to finally rid himself of Sonic!

And tis alright. And I'm hoping for no arguments too.

Although my opinion still stays the same of the first episode till I see something new. The game seems too samey to me. Although I do need to play it before saying anything(which I doubt I will anyways, seeing I can't go online) and I did hear the game is getting slight redesigns and stuff. But I'm not having my hopes ups. And again, this is just my opinion. The last thing I need is another debate too.

How can what I say be bad if it was all my opinion of the game? There's nothing wrong with what I said. I have a belief in what I said and I will stand up to it. I don't see how it was wrong. I never bashed it, I questioned it and I compared/contrasted it to the modern day (with its mix-ups). I didn't blatantly say the game was horrible. I had a right to express my opinions, and I may continue to do so because I have not violated. It's not my fault that there is a great deal of hype circulating around this game when Rush offered a more fresh environment than this game so far does (judging by pictures).

And now my comments on the game: It looks awfully repetitive to the original series. It is too modernized to be an original game and I much prefer the Sonic Rush series. However, I will probably try the game nonetheless.

I won't go into further details because if I do, I will be claimed of violating terms when I haven't.

I wasn't even singling you out in the first place. That was a warning to everyone. =/

Nonetheless, just because you're stating your opinion doesn't mean you can't be disruptive. You've said things that have outright made no sense and-- yes-- you actually have blatantly bashed the game and Sega, just like you always do whenever a new Sonic game comes out.

Stop bringing this up and trying to play a victim every single time someone gets aggravated at you. This routine has gone on for years, and it's only getting older. If you want to talk about opinions and bullying and whatever, take it to your blog or another topic instead of derailing the topic here.

And if anyone feels compelled to respond to him and inevitably start an argument, just don't respond or put him on ignore. I don't want this topic to devolve into the flaming pile of crud it was before.

Now, no more about this. Any such responses from anyone will be edited and deleted on the spot.

Some promising E3 Previews. Hopefully some new gameplay and trailers are on the horizon as well:

Destructoid

If you're worried about Sonic 4 being true to the old formula, don't be. Sega has worked so hard to make the experience line up nicely with your memories of the "good Sonic," and it really shows. It's the game that I knew Sega could do. The old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," has never seemed more true. Congratulations, Sega. You've made another good Sonic game.

IGN

After an afternoon in its presence it's become seared in our conscience just like the classic levels of the early Sonics – and surely that's reason enough to have faith in Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

That meant you too. xP

But now back on track. I'm not upset with this game. I just think they could have put more new things into it rather than have it same old stuff (like what it is looking like now).

Link for those who can't see the embedded video

Just a video of some gameplay footage from E3. The physics are much improved. Game's still looking good, no surprise there.

Don't forget iPhone footage. Man, going through loops on that version is a bit too disorienting--

Yeah, I'll stick with the console version. XD

Joystick FTW. But I'll give Sonic Team points for ingenuity.

Aw.....they're still using that odd animation where Sonic spreads his arms and legs out? :( I was hoping they'd get rid of that. Rest of the game looks good though. =)

Oh that animation, I see what you mean Blaire, but I really don't see anything wrong with it.
