Sandopolis Act 2
"In other words, be useful or be left behind. Guess that means the bounty hunters should amscray," Taylor said, with a chuckle.
"Why am I being dragged along again?" The young alchemist complained.
"Because you're a goddamn alchemist, for crying out loud. You're useful enough, kid," Taylor ventured.
"But I... augh, all right. But don't call me 'kid,' the name is Chet," the alchemist introduced himself. "I--"
"Alright, that's more than enough about you. Pack up and keep quiet, and we can have a safe enough hike. Hopefully you can mix while we go."
Poor Chet would hang back, awestruck by Taylor's ignorance of alchemy's intricacies. "Not that simple..." he muttered, before coming to himself.

Without another word, Desmond and his two allies packed up and headed off down the forest road.
Anyone who had decided to come along followed behind them, resolved to see where this strange trio would lead them- to adventure, to riches, to...something to do. The point is, and so they set off...

-Not long later-

As they progressed through the forest, Raegala got the distinct feeling that they were being watched.
The sun was almost gone by now, nearly below the horizon. It would appear that they were not going to make it to Leva before nightfall. Which meant that this journey was about to get perilous...the forests weren't safe at night. Well, they weren't safe PERIOD, but moreso at night.
"Desmond?" She said.
"Hm?" Des replied, without looking at her.
"I don't think we're going to make it Leva by nighttime." The nomad stated. "What do we do? Do we make camp?"
"Nah." Desmond shrugged. "I think we could stand to keep walking a while. I mean, what's the worst that could..."
There was a loud crack of thunder, and a bright flash of lightning. And then rain began to pour down, soaking the group.
"...happen." The half-daemon finished, grimacing. "...Well...keep walking anyway, it's not like there's an inn around here."
As they walked, the feeling of being watched spread throughout the group, growing in intensity. Once or twice a hissing noise was heard, or a snap of twigs being crushed under the weight of something. Lars thought he had seen a yellow eye glaring out of some bushes.
One thing was obvious though.
There were no signs of life anywhere in the forest. It was completely silent. No insects. No woodland critters. No birds...though the absence of most of these creatures could be due to the rain, it just felt like something...more than that.
"Be on your guard." Desmond muttered. "Something's not right..."
A distant sound, like a howl mixed with a roar, suddenly echoed from somewhere in the bushes, and a loud snarling noise came from the nearby foliage. Something was surrounding them...

Suddenly an enormous fanged maw shot out of the bushes, clamping around Lars' left leg.
"AGH, SON OF A-" The Vampire cried, drawing his rapier and slashing at the maw, bloodying it and covering it with slashes until it finally let go. Bloody bite marks lined Lars' pant leg.
"NIDILISKS!" He hissed. "Und from de sound uf it, dey hef hall uf us kompletely surrounded!"

"Oh, great." Desmond sighed, as the predators began to emerge from the forest around them, swinging their tails in agitation. Obviously, they were about to attack.
Desmond drew Carnifex, and Raegala drew her bow.
"Alright." Des hissed, "Who's first?"
The beasts attacked.

Meanwhile...

The group, seeing Fado and Boulderhead brought tents, originally planned to camp there for the night, still unaware that Desmond's group is not far from them in the forest. However, Aryll saw storm clouds forming and not wanting to get wet, orders Fado and Boulderhead that they should head straight to Leva.

"But-but-the tents will still keep us-"

"NO BUTS. To Leva we go!" Aryll shouted, not letting Fado finish. And as soon as she said that, it started raining and after a minute or two, it stormed. Despite the storm however, a full moon was shining brightly, lighting up the area so the group could see.

Great, Fado thought. Why are we listening to her?

Boulderhead didn't seem to mind. Fado noticed his outer stone skin is expanding slowly on his body, trying to fix the damage the Narryt caused earlier.

As they walked, Fado's group too felt like they were being watched. Suddenly, a familiar roar was heard. Fado nearly jumped and took out his pistol.

"Fado, that's a-" But suddenly, before Boulderhead could finish, a Narryt, different from the one in the museum, came out of nowhere and tackled Boulderhead into the ground, not far from the forest. A dust cloud covered the two of them and suddenly a maniacal laughter is heard.

Behind them, a small group of Cultists appeared.

"Give me the tome," one of them ordered. "Or else, you'll all die."

"What tome?!?" Fado shouted. Fado noticed Boulderhead is fighting back the Narryt but like the last battle with the other Narryt, they're both pretty equal.

"Wait, you guys don't have the tome?" One Cultist said.

"We do not have any tome," Aryll replied. "However, I did see a guy in black clothing carry a tome earlier. He probably still has it so hunt after him."

Aryll was obviously talking about Desmond. A few Cultists whispered for a few seconds, knowing something's wrong. One of them whispered 'Well, they still know too much so let's kill them anyway.'

"May I ask where you get these Narryts by the way?" Aryll asked, ignoring the whisper. She thinks of these guys like pipsqueaks.

"None of your business!" a Cultist shouted. "Now DIE!!!"

Suddenly, a roar is heard behind Fado and Aryll and the duo couldn't believe it.

It's another Narryt.

And it swung its fists down straight at Fado and Aryll.

"Why can't this crap ever be simple," Taylor vented as the predators appeared, pulling his chain out from beneath his cloak. A few syllables later, and rainwater was flashing to steam against the brass links. Then he lashed it towards the nidilisks like a whip as one leaped at him. The result wouldn't be pretty.
Chet cocked the crossbow and loaded a bolt, but he was gonna have a few problems keeping up with those predators, but he fed the first one a sharp steel bolt through its mouth and into the back its skull.

Hix rolled his eyes at the sight of these beast, knowing something was going to attack them sooner or later.

"Great idea, half breed, lets keep moving on and get attacked by Nidilsks." Hix spoke with a bit of an attitude. He uncrossed his arms and reached out his hand as a dark cloud began to form. Soon, it formed a large sword that was twice his size. He swung it around with ease, then slammed to tip of it into the ground.

"Don't get in my way, or I'll kill you too." He warned everyone, and suddenly burst forward as he gripped his 1000 Dark Clouds sword and slashed away at two of the attacking beast.

Grim was already pretty ticked about being soaked by the rain, and now they were being attacked by a bunch of large ankle bitters. His eyes glowed a red color, switching on his Death Eyes that allowed him to see in the dark. He formed his Death Sword and quickly leaped back and slid to Desmond's side. It seemed like Grim was going to protect Desmond at all cost. Or perhaps, being near Desmond would give him the chance to slay him once Rae was too occupied to save his life or interfere.

Fado and Aryll jumped to the side, dodging the Narryt's fist. Cultists took out their swords and charged toward them.

"Fado, distract the Narryt. I'll take care of them," Aryll ordered. Fado sighed, not really wanting to distract a Narryt, but he went to the other side and the Narryt's attention is now focused on him.

"Farewell, half-angel!" a Cultist shouted. But in a flash, Aryll took her sword out and slashed one Cultist in the chest. He fell to the ground and rolled down a hill, landing in the mud, obviously dead.

"Uh... don't cower now! Attack her, you-" But suddenly, Aryll flew over to the group of Cultists and in three beautiful strikes with her sword, all of them fell to the ground and died from the wounds around her.

That takes care of them, Aryll thought. Now for the Narryts.

She looked over at the Narryt Boulderhead is fighting. A Narryt, using its tremendous strength, ripped part of a tree out of the ground and chucked it at Boulderhead but he caught it and attempted to throw it back but the Narryt moved and it landed somewhere in the forest. Boulderhead then punched it in the face and succeeded, causing the Narryt to fall toward the ground.

Boulderhead seems to know what's he doing, Aryll thought who then looked over at Fado.

She... sighed in disbelief when she saw Fado on the things shoulders.

I hope he knows what's he doing, she thought. However, Fado used his acrobatic skills to climb up the beast who's twice his size and is trying to climb over to the beast's face with his pistol.

"Die!" Fado shouted, pointing its pistol at the Narryt's eye. The Narryt has been trying to shake Fado off the entire time but it was too late for the Narryt as Fado pulled the trigger and shot the beast right in the eye.

The Narryt roared in pain and started falling toward the ground. Fado gasped. He forgot about this. He'll get flattened.

"You idiot." Aryll then flew over and grabbed Fado, using her strength to lift him through the air and away from the dead Narryt. She then dropped Fado peacefully on the ground and joined him.

"Now we have that Narryt," Aryll pointed out. She noticed it is much taller then the Narryt Fado was fighting and Boulderhead's actually a bit shorter. The Narryt punched Boulderhead in the face and the Tyrran fell to the ground as the Narryt then launched a fast punch at Boulderhead.

Meanwhile...

A piece of a tree suddenly fell from the sky and landed feet away from Desmond and his friends. The remaining Nidilisks were frightened and ran off, disappearing into the darkness of the woods. Roars could then be heard as long with some shouting in the distance.

(Okay, not really how I planned it to work out, but then again I'm pretty much writing all this crap as I go along, so I'll roll with it.)

Desmond blinked as the creatures suddenly fled, startled by a random chunk of tree landing nearby.
"Okay, that was really coincidental..." The half-daemon said, surprised.
"Perhaps the gods decided to help us out?" Rae suggested, though she didn't sound sure of it at all.
"Hokay, vell, vatever. Hy guess ve schould chust get gun den?" Lars said. "Hy mean it probably kouldn' hurt to get me zum medical attention after dat nasty bite."

And so, the group continued on.

As they got further into the forest, the sound of gunshots reached their ears. Obviously somebody...or something...was being shot at.
Desmond began to hurry up a little, curious about who was shooting and what was being shot at.

Soon, they reached a large clearing...and immediately, Desmond dove for cover.
A large group of Highwaymen and Mercenaries, easily twenty men strong, had destroyed a small metal steam-powered wagon. Several of the men, armed with rifles, had the wagons owners, a pair of Mecha, pinned down behind the ruined wagon with gunfire. Four Warrior Robots were poking themselves out of cover every now and again to return fire. It was obvious they had not anticipated such a large force, as their only weapons were some clockwork revolvers and some swords.
One of the robots that was pinned down behind the cart, a tall mech wearing a long, multicolored robe, shouted something at them.
"01010000011011000110010101100001011100110110010100100000011
00001011100110111001101101001011100110111010000100001!" It shouted quickly and loudly.

Desmond stared.

"WHAT?!" He called, not understanding a word. The robot gave an exasperated sigh, held up a finger, paused for a moment, and then shouted in clear English, "REQUEST: PLEASE ASSIST!"
By this point, the men attacking the robots had become aware of the groups presence, and began firing on them too.

(Sorry. I apologize. I'll be sure not to do that again. xD
And this will be my last post for a while till everybody else posts.)

Meanwhile...

Boulderhead then rolled out of the way and kicked the thing between the legs(which that must have hurt, even for a Narryt). The Narryt fell backwards and Fado and Aryll saw their chance. They both looked at each and nodded. Aryll lifted Fado into the air and right above the fallen Narryt. Boulderhead, seeing what they're doing, actually grabs onto his legs and preventing it from turning and keeping it on the ground. It still struggled though.

"Now!" Fado shouted. Aryll then let go of Fado and both charged toward the Narryt's eyes.

SPLAT.

Fado shot the beast's right eye with his pistol while Aryll stabbed the beast's left eye with her sword. The eyes actually partially exploding, resulting in blood nearly go everywhere. The beast roared in pain but then died seconds later.

Fado jumped off the beast, noticing bits of blood on his pants while Aryll flew to her with only her sword covered in blood.

"Great. Narryt blood," Fado muttered. At least the rain's washing it off though.

Boulderhead walked toward the duo, with his outer stone skin cracked or already fallen apart. He's hurt as Fado notices him limping.

"Anyway, glad they're finally taken care of," Aryll said. "To-"

"Aryll, Boulderhead is hurt. He needs rest," Fado angrily told her, tired of being ordered around. Fado actually hurt his leg a bit from the landing on the Narryt, limping a bit too, and defiantly doesn't feel like walking. "We're getting out our tents and we're sleeping here till morning. Then, we'll head to Leva in the morning once we're rested up."

Aryll was about to argue but then realizes that Fado looks ticked and serious. Fado has been putting up with her ever since the museum incident and is clearly not in the mood to argue.

"Fine," she groaned.

And thus, the three helped to set up camp, a distance away from the dead Narryts and Cultists, with Fado and Aryll having a separate tent. Boulderhead, like usual, said he doesn't need a tent and he slept near a pile of rocks. He shut his eyelids and went to sleep. Eventually, it stopped storming as all three of them rested up for a big day tomorrow.

Grim and Hix formed up next to each other, something no one would ever expect from them two.

"Hix, execute Soul Slayer's Darkness." Grim ordered, to which Hix grins a bit evilly as his eyes glowed a dark red color.

"Heh, don't screw up, cause I'm not holding my sword back for you." Hix replied, then closed his eyes as his sword slowly formed into a dark cloud.

"1000 Clouds Sword, expand." Hix spoke as a large cloud formed all around the area the group was in, along with the mechas and their attackers. Hix focused as he remained still, allowing the cloud to grow bigger and bigger, until finally, he flung open his eyes spoke a command.

"1000 Swords, Stage Two!" He shouts, and suddenly 20 medium sized swords appeared all around them, scattered with the tips of the swords facing down. Each sword was positioned apart from each other, making it look like there was more then 20 swords as some hung in mid air and some stabbed into the ground. The area was still darkened as Hix focused on keeping the dark cloud present.

"Hurry up!" Hix grunted, as if struggling to keep the dark cloud around them so it would be hard to see. Grim's Death Eyes were already activated, allowing him to see in the dark. He quickly spotted the mercenaries and reached for a near by sword.

"If you can't see, then don't attack." Grim informed the group, then burst forward towards the blind mercenaries as he picked up another sword while running towards him.

Those that are outside this dark cloud would see a large dark cloud in the mist of this forest, and those traveling on this roar would also see this large dark cloud sitting in the middle of the roar. Entering the dark cloud is no task, but seeing once in there would prove to be difficult.

(Hoookay, everyone that's NOT Lil, because he actually did something... It kinda defeats the purpose of ROLEPLAYING if you sit idly by when I throw a battle your way. Hint, hint.)

Rae, hidden behind a tree, peered out. A pair of Mercs had their rifles trained on where she was hiding, waiting for her to pop out. She smirked.
Well then, if they want me to show myself, best not to keep them waiting.
Quick as a flash she darted out from behind her cover, loading two arrows into her bow at once. Swiftly muttering a prayer to the ancients, she let them fly, enchanting them.
The arrows sparked blue and flew straight and true, one embedding itself in one mercenary's throat, obviously slaying him, and the other arrow hitting the second merc in the shoulder. The electric magics coursed through his body, stopping his heart and killing him.

She cried out in pain as a rifle shot hit her in the leg. Scowling, she fired off another bow at the source, whizzing over a Merc's head and hitting a tree. He laughed and fired again, the Nomad woman diving to the side this time to avoid the bullet.
Raegala leapt upwards, gripping a low hanging tree branch, and swung forward like an ape in the tree tops. Due to her light weight, she flew upward...
And landed feet first on top of the mercenary. He let out a 'WHOOF' as the air was knocked out of him and he was crushed underfoot.
Rae drew her combat knife and swiftly slit his throat, then took cover again.

---

Lars and Desmond stood back to back, rapier and battleaxe in their hands, fighting off two mercenaries each.
"No wonder some people carry shields." Desmond said to Lars as he parried a sword blow.
"Oh yah. Mebbe ve schould invest in a kouple uf schields. It'd kertainly help in kombat." The Vampire replied casually as he lunged forward and sliced one of his combatants fingers off. "But den again, dese guys are pansies. Maybe ve don' need dem."
"True- YAH!" Desmond began, then cried, as he suddenly swung his axe like a golf club and cleaved the head off of one of the mercenaries. The man stood there for a second, almost as though he didn't realize he was dead, then toppled backwards. "They ARE weak."
"I'll show you weak, you-!" One of Lars' foes yelled, charging with a large combat knife in hand. The Vampire kicked out, tripping the merc, then swung his rapier down and cut the back of his neck open with a single slice. The other mercenary slashed downward with his sword, and Lars rolled to the side, then thrust his rapier forward into the mans stomach and out his back.
"Vell, dat's enough for me. How about hyu, hyu gonna fineesh dat vun or chust play vith him?" The Vampire joked.
"Oh yeah." Desmond grinned. As the remaining mercenary swung his mace at the half-daemon, Des swiftly chopped off the mans hand. Then, he tackled him to the ground, and drove Carnifex right into the guys face, effectively splitting his head in two.

"All done." Des said, wiping some blood off his shirt. "You okay, Carn?"
Mmm...blood... Carn muttered absentmindedly. Delicious...
"Yup, he's okay." He nodded. More gunfire, as some mercs trained their guns on them, and the two dove for cover yet again.
"Anybody wanna help out, here?" Des cried out to the others. "We're pinned down!"

(OOC: Oh, like it's MY fault that lil's getting all up in my way with... with... AREA EFFECTS.)

Gods damn it. Taylor was pissed. The little alchemist punk handled the predators fine, but choked up on him when faced with highwaymen. Or maybe it was something the half-angel or half-demons did. Maybe it was the friggin' vampire. All Taylor knew for sure was he was pinned with this now-useless lump of meat, beyond a nearly impenetrable smokescreen lay the battle, and there was next to nothing he could... wait a sec. Maybe he could send few fireball salvos over and figure out where his allies were right now. Couldn't hurt too much. The only guy to really worry about was that vampire, and he seemed like a tough enough guy. He conjured the fireball and threw it, with the flame splitting into a wide spread after it left his hand. He popped two more fireballs with the same spell, and listened for the yells before letting fly again.

(heh, sorry, I had to think of SOMETHING since I wasn't in the last battle at the museum. ^_^; )

Grim reached a small group of mercenaries and began his assault. Those these swords weren't his own, his skills in using them were the same. Hix's little smoke screen trick worked to Grim's advantage, making his movements appear quicker which lead to many stealthy attacks. A few yelps could be heard form the mercenaries that dropped like flies as Grim ran pass them and slit their throats or slashed opened their chests. To them, it was like a horror movie as a white blur of death moved form each person, killing them with one stroke and quickly moving onto the next without missing a beat.

One of them tried to shoot at Grim but the shot was deflected, which caused a spark to flash in the mist of the this 'smoke screen.' Not only did Grim deflect the shot, but he was now out of sight from the his attacker. This bothered mercenary, and caused him to panic as he looked all around to try and pin point Grim's loaction. Grim suddenly dropped down from above him and drove the sword straight down the middle, splitting the mercenary in half. That took care of one small group of mercenaries, however, this smoke screen was slowly lifting, which meant that Hix growing tired of making the dark cloud present, or he was distracted. Turns out, he was just distracted.

"Damn fools!!!" Hix shouted as he looked over his shoulder towards the direction the fire ball came from.

"Watch where your aiming!!" He adds, which undoubtedly gave away his position. This caused a small number of highwaymen to run towards him, being able to see Hix a bit clearly now since Hix wasn't fully focused on the smoke screen. The daemon heard the heavy footsteps heading his way, and cursed under his breath.

"Damn, I'll have to use it then, even if its not going to be that strong though." He told himself, then closed his eyes as he focused. Soon, the dark cloud surrounding them was sucked in by the several swords hanging about the area, making each blade a dark gray color. Hix reached out his hand, and summoned the swords to form together into one large sword that that ten times his own height. Creating a large sword took up some time, enough time for the highwaymen to reach Hix and bring their assault.

"Damn!" He shouted and quickly took cover. It would seem like Hix wasn't the only one in trouble, as Des also shouted for some aid.

"Yeah well, help yourself! I managed to make a pretty big damn sword several feet from you! Thats as much help as I can give you!" Hix shouted, realizing that the sword was much closer to Des then it was to himself.

As for Grim, Grim was left unarmed since all of Hix's swords were gather into on big one. Footsteps of mercenaries could be heard all around him, now that he was unarmed. There was only one thing Grim could do, which was use his Death Grip. knowing this, he started to charge his body as well as his right hand.

(Well, since Miri sadly disappeared again, I guess this is it....)

Morning arrived and the trio took off once again to Leva. Although Fado and Boulderhead do feel a lot better, Aryll made them wake up early in the morning and they're still half-sleepy. Regardless though, they packed up and took off, walking away further away from the forest and the dead Narryts and Cultists.

"Wait, since we rested here for the night, do we still have a reason to head to Leva?" Fado asked.

"We might as well head there and try to find any sort of clues to Desmond's location. If we don't then we can at least stock up on supplies." Aryll and the two behind her then stopped when she saw a suspicious man suddenly appear in front of them. The man isn't moving but Aryll noticed he's armed and has a fierce look in his eyes.

"Um, do you have a-" Suddenly, the man lashed out at them with a sword, attacking Aryll. Aryll blocked the attack with her own sword and the man backed off a bit. Fado groaned and took out his pistol, sick of the fighting.

"Who the hell are you? And why are you attacking us?" Fado asked, annoyed.

"I am a bounty hunter. You are all wanted after the incident in Stratos and if I can capture all of you then let's say I'll just be a very rich man," the bounty hunter told them. However, in an instant, Aryll stabbed the bounty hunter before he could do anything. He fell to the ground although he is still alive.

"Well, that takes care of that," Aryll groaned, putting her sword back in its case.

"No matter. The people who hired me has hired lots of bounty hunters who are probably stronger then me," he said before coughing up blood. "And they framed you for the destruction of the museum in Stratos."

"Wait? We're wanted criminals?" Fado asked. "Did the police hire you?"

"Well, no, some group of robed guys did. The police-" he coughed up more blood before dying on the spot from the wound.

"Damn it!" Aryll shouted.

"No worries," Fado told her. Fado went near his body. Aryll then appeared to remember something and did not seemed surprised. Seconds later, Fado spoke.

"He says the Cultists must have hired bounty hunters to kill us during the night which according to this guy, when the group of Cultists and Narryts that we killed earlier did not return as planned later that night, the Cultists called and hired bounty hunters. The police also grew suspicious of us after the museum incident and the Cultists must have bribed them into thinking we're responsible for the destruction and chaos in the city somehow. So now we're criminals with bounty hunters will be trying to find and attack us."

Aryll did not like this. She's now a criminal along with Fado and Boulderhead. She asked about Desmond if he's a criminal too although Fado said bounty hunters have been chasing him, remembering the incident with Grim in Stratos, so he probably been a criminal although he gotten gotten into several crimes and at least the cops in Stratos don't really do anything about it.

"So now we're no different from him," Boulderhead said, referring to Desmond.

We're criminals now, Fado thought. For some strange reason, when he said that, he imagined Desmond, laughing at them. A thought suddenly clicked in Fado's head. Wait, we're all obviously against the Cultists and now I have to continue dealing with them somehow since we're all criminals with bounty hunters chasing us. Should I perhaps try to find him and offer to team up with him at least until we end this Cultist business?

Fado shook his head. No! He's evil! But... I have to help stop the Cultists too. I'm assuming he's trying to stop them also because he apparently stole their tome. We both have the same goal. We should work together. It may be the only choice after all.

But Fado turned to Aryll who's sitting on a nearby rock in disbelief, not sure what to do with the trio now criminals.

Is Desmond willing to work with us though? Fado asked himself. Especially him, a half-daemon, to work with Aryll... a half-angel.

((I totally thought of this last minute. xD Problem is, I'm getting sick of doing my own thing from the rest of the RPers so I'm gonna eventually attempt to join you all. Dev was also frustrated too on MSN so I hope this fixes everything)).

Desmond sighed. "A Mercenary's work is never done."
"True dat, mi amigo." Lars replied, nodding sagely.
The half-daemon leapt out of cover, drawing Carnifex.
"Carn!" He spat, "Fire!"
Eh? Oh. Right.
The battleaxe abruptly burst into bright, orange flame.
Charging towards an advancing group of Cultists, Desmond plowed right into the group, swinging his axe back and forth, chopping and slicing at the attacking mercenaries.
"Die! DIE!" Desmond cackled madly, half-mad with frenzied blood-lust.
One mercenary drew a pistol, pressing it into Desmond's ribs and firing. The half-daemon let out a bestial cry of fury, baring his sharp teeth. Swinging around his axe slammed into the man's neck, cleaving his head off.
Turning once more, he swung Carn, sending a wave of fire at two mercs, lighting them aflame. They screamed and fell to the ground, trying to put it out, as their flesh roasted.
As Desmond distracted them with his mad, animalistic fury, Raegala picked off some of the ones armed with guns with her arrows.
Lars too had joined the fray, picking off some of the Mercenaries who were heading to take on Desmond, stabbing them in the backs with his rapier as they charged.
He winced and paused for a second as the bite wound in his leg sent a sharp jab of pain up his body. Taking advantage of his distraction, one mercenary trained a rifle on him and fired into his left arm.
"AGH!" Lars shouted, wheeling around and scowling. He swiftly drew his sidearm and put a bullet between the mans eyes.

"RETREAT!" Came the cry. The remaining mercenaries quickly began to flee, some being cut down by the enraged Desmond as they ran. Some stuck around, still locked in combat.(OOC: Namely, the ones fighting Lil, so you can go ahead and finish them off now L. xD)

Desmond stood panting and bloodied, his clothes tattered, wounds dotting his body.
"...Ow." He finally said, as he finally felt the pain.
He toppled over.

A FEW MOMENTS LATER

Desmond...

Desmond could see nothing but blackness. He couldn't see himself, or even an inch in front of his face. It was like deep space without stars. Was he dead?

Desmond... The voice came again, more insistent this time.

What was that voice? Who was it? Was it a daemon, come to guide him to Hell?

DESMOND! The voice barked sharply, and he felt a mental slap, jerking him awake.
He blinked once, looking around to see Lars and Raegala standing over him.
Well it's about damn time. Carnifex huffed. I've been trying to wake you for the past 10 minutes.
"Ugh. Well, thanks, I guess." The half-daemon muttered, standing up.
"You alright?" Rae asked.
"Yeah, I'll be fine. I've been worse." He replied casually. He strolled over to the robots.

The tall robot was easily 7 feet tall, a dark yellow, almost gold, color, with two large green eyes that resembled goggles. He was thin, with a cylindrical head shaped like a tube. His robes were a rainbow of colors, with a large silver pendant hanging from his neck.
Beside him was a little robot about 4 feet tall. His head was a ball shape, and he had a single, large blue optic and no mouth. A small smokestack protruded from the top of his head, letting out a small 'FWEE' noise and some steam every few moments. His hands were little orbs with three fingers(sort of like one of those Claw games?) and he clutched a metal pad and stylus.
"Statement: Thank you, kind adventurer." The tall one said. "This unit is designated Talios. I am Mecha Ambassador Gamma. This is my assistant, Eight-two-three-vee-one-five, also known as 'Brevis'."
The little robot made a beeping noise and waved.

"Query: Would you perhaps be interested in a little work?" Talios inquired. "I am a very important individual, and I fear there may be more mercenaries where they came from. My tech-guard has been slagged-" He pointed a finger at his four guards, all of him were now dead, sparking heaps of metal, "And I need to be escorted to the city you humans refer to as 'Leva'."
"Hm. Will there be money involved?" Desmond asked.
"Confirmed."
"Then yes, we would be interested."
"Statement: Excellent. Let us leave post-haste."

(Fun fact: 823V15 spells Brevis in 1337.)

Another man suddenly approached Fado and crew, flanked by several men.
"Greetings." He said, grinning kindly. "I am a...traveling salesman, and these are my...bodyguards. We were wondering if perhaps you'd like to...come with us and browse our wares? My trade caravan is just through those trees.
Something about the man was rather suspicious.

(Yeah, not the best beginning, but I figured I'd give you something to occupy you, and I came up with this off the top of my head.)

"Uh," Fado reacted. A traveling salesman? With bodyguards? Wait, no, that's not suspicious. There's tons of bandits. But why does he all the sudden... ?

"Will you excuse me for a minute?" Fado asked. He called Aryll and Boulderhead over to discuss what's happening.

"... Who is this guy? Should we really just go ahead and look what he has?" Fado asked.

"Hell no," Boulderhead simply said.

"Wait, he's just a salesman. He may have valuable supplies we need or maybe even something rare. Let's just go along and see what he has. If nothing then we'll just go," Aryll replied.

"He looks very suspicious though," said Fado. He sighed and turned around. Aryll's right. He doesn't look dangerous. They might as well see what he has after Fado asks him a few questions. Even if it is a trap, Fado thinks the trio can handle them after looking at all the bodyguards very carefully.

"Alright we'll go. But just what's your name? And why do you want US to browse your stuff?" Fado asked, making Boulderhead groan.
