As we all (might) know, the FIFA World Cup, which is pretty much the biggest and most important soccer tournament that has ever existed, starts this Friday. This topic will be used for dicsussions, predictions, bracket posting, and anything else FIFA related. To start things off, I believe that Mexico will definitely beat South Africa and France SHOULD beat Uruguay. |

Oh yes. FIFA. Quite excited. Pretty much the only Soccer thing I watch. I'm not sure which teams are the better teams though so I'm not going to fill out a bracket. I just want the US to win who will hopefully do better then, ugh, the last world cup. Although beating England could be tough...

I'm guessing the US will emerge second in their group - we're probably gonna lose to England though XP |

Boo yeah! I was waiting for someone to post something about the footie as it has a special place in me' heart. xP I've always supported Brazil, they didn't do great last time but I can't imagine supporting any other team. I'm so upset that neither Ronaldinho nor Pato will be playing, I was looking forward to seeing 'em. As for the match on Saturday, heck, I'm not really sure. England lack consistency, and the USA could come out on top if they don't toughen up, the whimps. =P I really don't support my home team, heheh, 'tis awful. Edited by Dee. Actually, I think I'm going to fill out a bracket now after studying a couple of the teams. Can anybody link me to a good bracket place? @Dee: SUPPORT YOUR COUNTRY. NO MATTER HOW BAD THEY ARE. ): |

I'm afraid I'm no patriot. =P But I will root for them if they're against other teams apart from Brazil, but I'm primarily supporting Brazil. England are my second. :> |

Pfft. First match to kick off the World Cup was a draw. Although I still want Mexico to win, South Africa should have won. They had two chances to score a goal to take the lead but blew it. |

True say, it was disappointing. Did you hear the stadium when the whistle was blown? There wasn't a sound! Mexico played well against the home team, but I would have liked South Africa to win. It just wouldn't feel right if they were beaten on their home turf in the opening match. England V USA tomorrow... dammit England. They'd better win. =P |

Pfft. I won't be surprised though if South Africa loses, especially after the errors they made in the first game. They only got in just because they host the World Cup. As for that match tomorrow, which is the one I'm looking forward to, England will probably win, as much as I hate to say this, mainly because the US is not that good at Soccer. =| Edited by Fenroar, Jun 11 2010, 11:15 AM.

Same here, they've really gotta pick it up if they want to wow their fans! I don't think they'll win it, though. We'll just have to see. I can't remember who else is playing tomorrow, I know France are gonna be on the pitch but I have no idea who they're facing. *looks it up* |

France just played Uruguay today which ended in a draw. And France could have won that too. Now the USA is playing England tomorrow. Probably gonna lose. |

The Uruguay/France match was tense at the end. I have friends in Uruguay, believe it or not, so it was fun getting their reactions during the match ![]() Also yes, in the US/England match, as an American, I anticipate an England victory. Will be hoping for the surprise USA upset though. Edited by Spin, Jun 11 2010, 11:21 PM.

Yeah, same here. Korea just beat Greece 2 to 0, making them the first country to win a World Cup game. I'm happy because I wanted Korea to win that. ;P Rooting for Argentina in the next match. And then obviously the USA. |

Argh, I missed the France match, but it is rather disappointing to hear that it ended in a draw. And the Korea match, I saw the goals but totally missed the match. Gutted, but I'm glad to see that some goals were being put. It's real exciting. Just watched the Argentina match, I was hoping they'd score more than just one goal, they had SO MANY chances and Nigeria's goal keeper was superb. I would have liked to see Messi score. Lawd he's so awesome. <3 Waitin' for the England match tonight now. Ahh it shall be tense. You Americanos are going down, muahaha. *gets all competitive* |

What in the blue hell just happened? That was a big mistake and a cheap give-away, England are thrashing it and something that would have a 10% chance of happening just did. Damn it! |

I'm supporting the ball turning into a bomb and utterly destroying the world cup, but maybe that's just me. HAET FOOTBALL/SOCCER/SPORT WITH FOOT TO BALLS INVOLVED (crotch kicking not counted :3).

I saw that. Dunno what happened. Terrible mistake though. Both teams are doing terrible though. I mean, unlike all the other teams, it seems they're just kicking it everywhere and seems like they're using their heads more then their feet. Both teams won't last long although Group C is pretty weak. I liked the Argentina match though. I think they're a strong contender for the champions. Also, yeah, Messi should have scored but Nigeria's goalkeeper was just amazing. Plus, they're team is huge. |
