Official Websites: US/UK-JP ![]() THE GAME Gameplay: Sonic Free Riders is the third installment in the Riders trilogy, an arcade racer in which the player dawns hovering bikes and boards called Extreme Gears. Unlike its prequels or any other Sonic game to date, it eschews controller input and relies completely on body-based motion control: Steering and speed are controlled by leaning the body and kicking off the ground respectively as if on a skateboard, and jumps are performed as expected and charged by ducking down before reaching the end of a ramp. Holding out your hand instructs the character to do the same which is useful for picking up rings and weapons off to the side; Said weapons can be shot by throwing them at an opponent or onto the playing field. Environmental elements such as bodies of water and mine carts must be overcome and used by unique arm movements. The maintenance of one's Extreme Gear during play still remain an integral part of the experience; Gears are fueled by air which is consumed at a higher rate when boosting, but it can be replenished during the race by performing tricks or acquiring upgrades; Balancing boosting with skillful play is a necessity for success. There are 20 Gears in all, (see below), each with their own stats, abilities, and upgrades that can be accessed by collecting rings or power-ups in the field. Modes:

I don't see this going down too well. The Sonic game on Eyetoy for PS2 sucked but I don't know too much about this game yet so I'd have to see it for myself when it's finished. |

Your reason to buy the Kinect right there, so you can look like a utter spaz ![]() EDIT http://www.vgcats.com/comics/ This kinda fits the Kinect oddly enough. There is almost no games I want for it at the moment, so likly Ill wait until this things price comes down before I can buy it. So at the moment, Sonic Free Riders will elude me.

First, that....actually looks kind of fun. O_o Simple fun, but fun nonetheless. Not really sure how one would control Sonic like that by bodymovements, but that's only because I know next to nothing about the game. (though, it gets props for using the Speed Highway music.) As for Free Riders, controlling the board by using your body actually sounds like a cool concept. (though, swimming could make you look like a total spaz, but just don't play with anyone else around. ) |

People don't buy anything because a company can make money off of a product; People buy things with the intent of pleasing themselves with the product first and foremost. @ Blaire: I believe Superstars mini-game works the same way that Free Riders does-- You have a default position, and Sonic is maneuvered by leaning in the direction that you want him to go on. |

After the last games story, I kinda wouldn't mind no story, or at least something not too complex. I mean first it the rogues descended from thieves that made the gods angry and then their aliens? Oh well, we can always see what crazy shenanigans SEGA has planned for the Rogues. |

Zero Gravity's story isn't really contradictory or confusing. If anything, it's just an addendum on the Rogues' ancestral background: A race of aliens crash landed on Earth, and their advanced technology at the time gave rise not only to the cultural depiction of genies but also the shooting star legend (Remember, genies and shooting stars are associated with wishing). An accident with the Ark of the Cosmos destroyed the majority of the race, and said event was deemed a result of the divine punishment mentioned in the first game. Those who survived the disaster continued to populate and eventually led to the Babylon Rogues we have today. |
