Sandopolis Act 2
|
Prologue Sonic paced through the hallways of the massive underground city, awaiting for his name to be paged over the main intercom. He was awaiting for the news that they had made contact with the alien mother ship that they had been watching for the last three days. It had been making steady head way towards earth in the last 72 hours, and it had recently come in range with their communication array. He was starting to get impatient; he hated waiting. He had been walking the paths and roads for what had seemed like years; waiting for a message that would change the fate of both Human and Mobian kind. "Colonel Sonic the Hedgehog, please report to the central command center" That voice was undoubtedly the voice of his fiancée, General Sally Acorn. Though they did deeply care about each other, their military roles often conflicted with their relationship. Normally Sally and the others hated when he ran through the hallways and he would listen, but this time was different; this was of grave importance. It only took a matter of second before he reached the security door, at which he entered a 32-digit PIN. As the door slid open, he eyed the room for familiar faces. He missed the old days where it was just him and the guys; but now they had been overrun by a bio produced generation of Mobians based off of Nicole's DNA files. While this was essential for having any sort of army, it still bugged him. He finally met eyes with Tails, who was standing only a few feet away from Sally and Rouge. "Glad that you made it here before the message arrived, Sonic" She smiled "No problem, Ma'am." He laughed "Speed IS my game after all" "Joke's aside, Tails has some reports to disclose with you" "Very well," He said, turning towards Tails "so... whatcha got?" The two-tailed fox pulled out a PDA-like device and started flipping through it. "I've noticed incredibley high spikes in chaos energy radiating from their ship and-" "Whoa whoa whoa," He interrupted "how can that be? We've got all 7 locked up way in the mountains and the Master Emerald is stashed away here with Knuckles guarding it almost 24/7!" "Well, that's a little complicated to explain... I'll have Nicole do it for you!" The fox said, handing Sonic the PDA and turning away to work on something else. He waited a moment, and eventually a small blue hologram of a Lynx in a purple robe appeared out of the device. "Morning, Colonel Hedgehog" She greeted "Heh, nice to see you too Nicole" He grinned "So mind telling me how this whole 'chaos energy' thing is happening?" She paused for a moment, trying to think of a way that she could explain it so that Sonic could understand. Not that he wasn't smart, he was just impatient. "Well, from what we and the lab have discovered; we believe that these Aliens may have they're own equivelant to the Chaos Emeralds in th-" Everyone went quiet as the main screen turned on and the form of an obscure Alien being, partly shadowed, stood there. "Greetings, vermin..." It spoke, with the accent that you might expect from a snake Edited by Lord English, Dec 10 2010, 10:25 PM.

Sandopolis Act 2
|
Chapter 1 Sonic watched the figure, trying to distinguish a body of sorts. He could easily find the head with it’s glowing yellow eyes, but the rest of the body was too shadowed. Though the voice reminded him of a serpent, the head was oddly shaped and Sonic couldn’t put a finger on where he’d seen that shape before. Sonic only had a short while to observe before the creature continued to speak. “I am Ekaih of Highrise, leader of the Covenant.” He slithered “In case you are wondering, we have indeed came here to claim your land, and we suggest you do not interfere. All heretics who are spotted will be killed on site, so I suggest you hide. This shall be the Covenant’s shining moment, and it shall not be tarnished!” As the alien finished his sentence, you could hear a large amount of other species cheering; awaiting their crowning moment. Obviously these aliens thought they were special and deserved this planet, but they were wrong, Sonic could tell. The New Mobius Army would be deployed as soon as possible, and this threat would easily be extinguished. Or so he hoped. Around the control room, everyone was abuzz; shocked by what they had just seen. It was obvious they weren’t as hopeful as Sonic, they believed all the words that this “Ekaih” had said… which is just what the Alien had wanted. “HEY!” Sonic shouted to the crowd, silencing them “What are you guys so scared about? It’s not like these guys are a real threat! Remember the Daedra? We beat them, and that was when we didn’t even have an army of our own! Now, we are practically at full force, and nothing can stop us!” You could tell Sonic was persuading them, the shock in their eyes turning into courage, and they were all starting to smile. “So what do you guys say? Can we beat these Losers? Are we strong enough?” He continued While the crowd had hesitated at first, they all gave a collective “Yeah!”. “That’s the spirit! Now get back to work, we have a battle to win!” He finished Everyone returned to their work with excitement, except for Tails and Sally. They were both watching a computer screen, with a look of hopelessness in their faces. Sonic walked up to them, wondering what had them so down. “Hey guys, why the long faces?” He asked, hoping the joke wouldn’t stiffen the atmosphere. While Tails continued to rapidly type on the keyboard, Sally turned her head to respond. “Sonic, you better take a look at these numbers.” She replied, quickly turning back to the screen. Intrigued, Sonic couldn’t help but wonder what such the big deal was. He turned to the screen, trying to understand it. The screen was comprised of number combinations he didn’t understand, and holographic diagrams of strange shapes that could have possibly been vehicles, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. “Ummm… mine explaining, Tails?” He asked. Tails sighed; it was obvious this was something serious. “Well, from what this file is telling me; this “Covenant” is from the planet Thear.” He explained. The name sounded familiar, and he quickly realized where he knew it from. “Isn’t that the planet that sent out that signal about their culture all those years ago, that we took inspiration from to send out our own?” He asked “Exactly,” He replied “looking through the broadcast now, I can tell that their technology is much more advanced then ours to the point that they have the ability to perform slip space jumps and manipulate plasma.” It was then Nicole’s hologram appeared in the corner of the screen, coming with simplified information that Sonic and the others could understand. “Alright, here’s the summary of the signal in video form.” She said, bringing up the video to cover the whole screen. The video started out showing some footage of the planet, it had a look similar to that of Earth and Mobius, but with more of a red atmosphere. It then went down to the planet’s atmosphere, showing enormous mountains and vast canyons going on for miles. Eventually it panned up to a hill with some sort of castle on it, and it went into the castle showing the dark, purple interior. It soon arrived in the main hall, showing a creature sitting on some sort of throne. Sonic noticed it’s beaming yellow eyes immediately knew that this was the creature from the message. It stood about 7 feet tall, and has a reptilian face with rough skin. At the back of it’s head was one large spine, with a stripe on it. The creatures skin was a dark purple, but wore a white and red battle suit. It’s body was tall and sleek, with a long spiked tail. Before Sonic had any more time to examine the creature, or Ekaih, the camera panned away to outside of the castle. Stationed outside the castle was a large army, consisting of numerous species and dozens of different vehicles. As the video continued on, Sonic began loosing the enthusiasm and courage he had just a few minutes ago; replaced with fear. The Covenant’s technology greatly surpassed anything they had, and there forces were endless. The video ended, and Sonic looked to the ground. Would they even have a chance? He wasn’t sure anymore, and he was nervous for what would happen next. “Nicole, what’s Jake doing?” He asked, looking back up to the screen. “Still sleeping, should I wake him up?” Nicole replied. “Please do.” |

Sandopolis Act 2
|
Chapter 2 Jake heard a loud ringing but just turned over to ignore it. He knew he had slept in, but nobody had cared so he just kept on resting. They said they would tell him if the alien ship made any movement or transmitted a message, so he assumed that there had been no development yet. When he heard the ringing however, while ignoring it at first, he realized it could be someone from the command center messaging him. Eventually, he swung his arm over to hit the answer button on his speaker phone; missing the first time but hitting it shortly after. A hologram of Nicole appeared suddenly, taking up the majority of the wall. “Jake? Are you awake?” She asked, peering around the room. “Down here.” He laughed; the hologram had appeared right above him. “Listen Jake; we’ve made contact with the alien ship, and you need to head down here to the control center immediately.” She said as she faded away. Jake slowly crawled out of his bed and glanced around his room. It was completely different the New Mobius in the way it actually wasn’t part of it. Yes it was connected, but it was practically a house connected to a passage that leads to the underground city. He walked towards his dresser and opened a couple drawers. He grabbed a pair of dark blue jeans and a grey shirt. He put them on and reached for a black, unzipped hoodie. While putting it on, he typed in a 12 spot code on the wall, and it opened revealing the passage to New Mobius. He continued through the passage until it grew large enough for him to walk through. The passage was dark and grimy, and a lot less sophisticated then the rest of the base. After walking down a couple flights of stairs, he reached a shining door that stood out from the rest of the passage. Jake confirmed his identity with eye scans and a key code, and the door opened leading to an elevator. He walked in, and the door instantly closed. The elevator started descending soon after. The elevator opened revealing the buzzing command center; with Mobian scientists working nonstop. Jake scanned the crowd for any familiar faces, and finally noticed Sonic standing next to Sally and Tails. They appeared to be watching a video, put Jake couldn’t see what it was. “Hey guys, what’s the news?” Jake asked. They turned around in surprise, they hadn’t seen Jake behind them and he had startled them. Jake was much taller than then though, so it wouldn’t be hard to miss him in a crowd of Mobians. “Oh hey, listen Jake… we need you to watch these videos.” Sonic told him, pointing Jake to a nearby chair, Jake sat down and the first video started, it showed the Covenant leader, Ekaih; warning them. He didn’t seem too surprised by it, since the message was unclear on what they wanted. However, when the video compiled by Nicole played; he seemed to get increasingly interested. The longer it went on, the more Jake inched towards the screen. He could somehow recognize the aliens, for one reason or another. As soon as the video ended, he practically jumped out of his seat and ran towards Nicole and the others. “Guys, I’ve those aliens before!” He exclaimed “What? How? Do you remember where you saw them again?” Tails asked “Well, it was in this game that I saw the trailer for, Halo. Yeah, that’s it!” He replied “It had a whole bunch of those aliens, and even some of their vehicles were the same!” Jake could see Nicole flinch, that name was familiar to her. “Halo…” She mumbled to her self “I know that name from somewhere, let me check my database.” She should still for a moment, looking as a normal living being would if they were thinking. “Got it!” She exclaimed “Halo is a video game released in 2001 and spawned 2 sequels. The game not only has an alien race known as the Covenant, but the species portrayed in the game are also similar.” “So you mean, these aliens come from a videogame?” Tails asked. “Not only that, but there’s something I should tell you guys.” Nicole said “The New Mobius Army’s weapons and vehicles are actually inspired heavily from this game. Back when Havok attacked, I searched the human World network of information and came upon an image gallery entitled “bungie”. The gallery showed a large variety of guns and vehicles. It wasn’t until now that I made the connection that “Bungie” must have been the developers of the game.” |

Sandopolis Act 2

Chapter 3 As soon as Nicole had finished speaking, something clicked in Sonic’s head; he realized that the same thing had happened with them. When the Mobians had sent out their signal, the humans that received the signal had turned it into a form of entertainment. Maybe it was possible that the signal from Thear that the Mobians had received had also gotten to earth, resulting in this “Halo” thing. Sonic explained his theory to the others, and they easily understood what the situation was, and they knew exactly what to do about it. “Nicole and Tails, run a search about the Covenant from the Halo series and compile all the info you can; I want a report in the next three hours.” Sally ordered “Yes ma’am.” They replied They went back to work, leaving only Jake, Sally, and Sonic. “Yo, what should Jake and I do while they compile their findings?” Sonic asked “Well, you know that thing we’ve been talking about?” Sally replied to him Sonic knew exactly what she meant; awhile ago they had been discussing how if there was ever another war, they wouldn’t be able to all be fighting together, and would have to disperse among squads of marines in order to fight more efficiently. More recently, they had decided that instead of paring Jake with him or Knuckles; they would give him a squad of marines to lead. When Jake is wearing the suit, he stands 6 feet tall; making him seem enough like an adult, and as long as he didn’t take off his mask around him; they would believe he’s an adult. “Yes, I remember.” He said “Should you, or should I?” Without answering his question, Sally went ahead and explained it to Jake. “Well, as you know; we were planning to set you up with either Sonic or Knuckles in a squad.” Sally began to explain. Jake nodded. “Well, we’ve changed our minds.” She continued “We’ve decided to place you in charge of a squad of Marines.” “Why? Me and Sonic would make a great team!” Jake argued; you could tell he was upset about not being with Sonic. “Just listen, we think it would be better if you were put in charge of your very own squad to command.” Sally explained. “A whole squad?! I’m a lot younger than them! There’s no way I could be a leader!” He exclaimed. “Well Jake, it’s either this or stay behind in the labs for months. So, what do you pick?” Sally asked Jake sighed, “Fine, I’ll do it. When do I meet my team?” “In about 15 minutes, I suggest you go get into your suit before you leave; Head to the armoury B3 when you’re done.” He finished “Yes ma’am”. He shouted, running off to his private quarters. Sonic watched him leave the room, and then turned towards Sally. Before he could ask what she wanted him to do, she began to speak. “Sonic, I want you to introduce Jake to his squad. Make sure you establish his authority to them, now run along!” She ordered. Sonic walked out of the room and slouched against a wall; he was worried about the Covenant. The video had proven to him that they were a force to be reckoned with, and they could make a first move at any moment. It was then that Sonic realized that they would need to mobilize as soon as possible. He got up, and began walking towards the armoury. Jake’s squad was comprised of all humans, the first in the entire army. They had sent out applications for their army, expecting no replies, but this bunch seemed to have mild memories from the Daedra invasion, and they enlisted. The New Mobius Army would multiply by incredible numbers once the Covenant were exposed to the world; resulting in the armies around the world rallying into one super power. Until then, this would have to do. Sonic reached the Armoury and peered in through a glass window. He saw 4 marines sitting on 2 benches, fiddling with their new equipment. He turned away, and watched the hallway for Jake. |

Sandopolis Act 2

Chapter 4 Jake exited his private quarters; clad in a Black and red battle suit, and made his way toward the Armoury where he would be his new squad. Walking past a small group of Mobian scientists, he realized how much the height difference increased when he wore his armour. The Mobians were so much smaller than him, and he couldn’t even imagine what it would be like when more Humans began enlisting. Jake arrived at the armoury, and saw Sonic leaning near the door. “So you ready to meet your team?” Sonic asked him “Their waiting inside for you.” Jake nodded and continued, but Sonic quickly stepped in his way. “Before you head in there,” He quickly whispered “remember to be confident; they need to respect you as a leader.” Sonic stepped out of the way; allowing Jake to proceed. He opened there door and walked in, Sonic following him close behind. Inside, Jake saw three men and a woman sitting on a couple benches. They were fiddling with the new guns and armor, as they had yet to see anything so advanced before. As the two approached, the marines turned there heads, and one man got up to Salute. “Good afternoon, Colonel Hedgehog.” The man said in a typical military fashion. The man stood slightly larger than Jake in his battle suit, and had a fair skin tone. He was clad in the standard issue NMA dark green armor, and had shaggy blond hair semi-hidden in his cap. “At ease Sergeant,” Sonic ordered “there’s somebody I’d like you to meet.” The squad gazed up at Jake, seeming quite imposing in his armor that made him appear to almost be a robot of sorts. “This is Captain Jake, he will be leading Alpha Team; and you’ve all been placed in it.” Sonic continued “You’ve all been chosen for a reason, you’re the best marines the US army could offer, and you’ll be an extremely valuable asset to the New Mobius army.” Jake examined the Sergeant as he took a couple steps back, searching for a name tag of sorts. He checked his shoulder and saw the name F. Jordan, Sergeant Jordan would be how we would be addressed from here on out. Soon after Sonic finished speaking and Jordan had stepped back, a short woman with brown hair in a ponytail stepped forward to shake Jake’s hand. She stood the shortest out of the team, and had a tanned skin tone. “Private Stacey, vehicle specialist.” She smiled “It’s an honor to be serving with you Captain.” He nodded and let go of her hand as she stepped back to the others. The rest of the team followed suit, with a muscular African American Corporal with Mitchell written on his sleeve shook hands and said a few words. He was without a doubt a man who preferred heavy weapons. Finally Corporal Alberts came up and shook hands with him, but didn’t say anything. It was obvious he was shy and kept to himself, most likely a Marksman. He quickly shook his hand and stepped back, trying to avoid any attention. Jake observed his squad waiting there attentively, and saw something pop up in the corner of his visor. It was a message from Nicole, detailing a new feature that she had recently installed into his helmet. The new feature would automatically adjust the pitch and tone of his voice. Jake turned to Sonic to see that the hedgehog was also looking back at him, they both nodded and Jake turned towards his squad. “Greetings Alpha team; I-I’m Captain Jake, it will be an honor to lead all of you through these tough times.” He stuttered. The entire group stared at Jake, and eventually one spoke up. “Captain, what exactly is it that we’re fighting against?” Stacey asked Before Jake could reply, Sonic stepped in an answered her question. “Don’t worry, you’ll all find out in an hour or two. Until then, I suggest all of you commence your training.” Sonic ordered They all did a collective “Yes sir.” and walked to a small shooting range. Sonic sighed, and returned to the control center. |

Sandopolis Act 2
|
Chapter 5 It had been 2 hours since Sonic had taken Jake to meet his squad, and he was waiting for Tails and Nicole to finish their report on the covenant that they would present to the entire army. He turned to Tails, watching him type away. Sonic was growing impatient, so he decided to ask how long until they were done. “Hey Tails, how long until you guys finish your summary?” He asked him “Great timing, Sonic!” He Exclaimed “We’re just rendering the video now, mind asking Sally to make the announcement?” “Sure thing little buddy!” He smiled, walking over to Sally’s desk. Sally looked up and smiled at Sonic as they shared a moment of bonding, but it was quickly broken as an analyst bumped into Sonic. “Yo Sal, Tails says he’s done with the report and was wondering if you could make an announcement over the intercom.” He said “Sure thing Sonic,” She chuckled “I’ll go ahead and do that now. I suggest you take the guys over to the auditorium” Sonic agreed and started walking to the auditorium. As he approached the exit of the command center, he heard Sally’s voice coming from speakers all over the city. “Attention all citizens, please report to the main auditorium for an important briefing on the Covenant aliens. I repeat, please quickly make your way to the Auditorium for a special briefing.” Sonic was the first one to arrive, and he took a seat in the front row. Shortly after Tails came and sat on his left, followed by Knuckles on his right. The rest of the gang arrived shortly after; including Amy, Shadow, Rouge, the Chaotix, and eventually the room started filling with more and more Mobians. Alpha team arrived a bit later, but they managed to take part of the row behind Sonic. As soon as the Auditorium was almost filled, Nicole’s hologram appeared on stage as she began her speech. She greeted the Audience and said a few words congratulating the staff of the army for their advances. She then changed to a more serious tone as she showed Ekaih’s original warning video. Some of the crowd seemed unnerved by the video, but worse was to come. The next video wasn’t the compilation that they had showed Jake, but the latest report detailing the Covenant species and some of their vehicles. First up was the Unggoy; also know as Grunts. The grunts were about 5 feet tall with large methane tanks attached to their backs and gas masks covering their faces. They had wrinkly brown-grey skin and short but large legs and arms. They were wielding a weapon known as a plasma pistol, a small purple firearm that is capable of firing bursts of green plasma. Following the grunts were the Sangheili, also know as Elites. The Elites were at least 7 feet tall, and had the body frame resembling that of a human. They were fully clad in armor varying in colors, though their quadruple mandibles are visible. They had large calves and feet with only 2 toes on each. It was mildly visible that they had some sort of energy shield around there armor. There was also the Jiralhanae, also know as Brutes. The Brutes stood about 8 feet tall, and are of simian origin and have been said to resemble large gorillas, but, in some ways, they also resemble ursine, or rhinoceros as well. They have thick, gray skin, and are covered with matted, black, tan, or brown fur-like hair and some have short, black, or brown colored beards. Finally there were the Kig-Yar, also know as Jackals. The Jackals were about 5 and half feet tall when standing erect, and were excellent marksmen. The Jackals resemble velociraptors, and have exhibited both beaks and razor sharp teeth that can easily rip flesh apart. If they are not chosen to be a sniper, they use plasma pistols and hold energy shield gauntlets. The video continued on, and the crowd got increasingly more nervous. As it showed the vehicles and elaborated on the weapons of the Covenant, they realized how much the odds were stacking up against them. The video finished, and everyone was silent. A whole minute passed, and General Sally Acorn walked out on stage. “Alright everybody, I know that video was pretty depressing, but now we now what they are and how to beat them; yet they have no clue what we have. When you think about it, we really have the upper hand. While the Covenant knows nothing about us, we have an idea of both their strategies and their forces.” She paused, trying to think of a way to end her poorly thought up speech “Now I suggest you all return to your stations, as we have a war to fight.” The crowd rose out of their seats, and began to flood out of the theater. While even some of Sonic’s close friends were leaving, he noticed that Jake and his team were still sitting. Sonic watched them curiously, trying to read their lips. It was a skill he had developed at a young age, and hadn’t bothered to tell anyone about. He continued watching, and noticed that they actually seemed confident about this whole situation. He didn't know what Jake was saying or feeling because of his helmet, but the rest of the squad looked almost overjoyed at the thought of battling these “weak” aliens. Eventually they got up and left, leaving only Sonic left in the auditorium. He leaned back in the reclining seat and perched his feet on top of the small barrier in front of him. He sat and pondered for a bit whether or not these aliens would be a challenge or not. The beings in the video did seem quite menacing, but so did the demons from Oblivion, and they had prevailed against them. He propped his legs lower on the wall and began pushing himself back, he heard part of the chair snap and it leaned back further, almost flat. Sonic smirked a little, satisfied by his little manoeuvre. He slowly closed his eyes and started to slowly doze off. Right before he began to lose consciousness, he heard someone sobbing off in the distance. His right ear perked up a bit as he listened to the sound; not wanting to open his eyes. It didn’t take long to recognize the voice; it was Sally. Before he could finish pondering whether or not to get up and go see her, he forgot what he was thinking about and quickly fell fast asleep. |

Sandopolis Act 2

Chapter 6 December 4th, 2007 Jake awoke, but didn’t open his eyes. He shifted a bit, and started to ponder about what had happened in the past few days. Immediately after seeing the videos, the team had gone straight back to the shooting range, and had asked Nicole to put up holograms of the different Covenant species. It didn’t really help, since they were straight from the video and oddly positioned, but it gave them morale; which was exactly what the soldiers needed. Throughout the coming days, they had discussed strategies and studied the video to try and better understand the opponents’ tactics. Most recently, they had gotten a hold of some more powerful weapons such as the SCRAWL, a semi-auto rifle with a 2x scope. Not only was it Jake’s instant favourite, but it was one of the few weapons that weren’t taken from the video game. They had also scoped out some of the vehicles, with Pvt. Stacey getting overly excited at the futuristic tech used with them. The last night however, must have been more relaxed and it appeared to Jake that they must have had some sort of party. The air had a slight tinge of booze in it, most likely indicating why everyone else was still asleep. Jake opened his eyes, and peered around the room. He saw his squad mates passed out around the quarters, some holding bottles of beer in their hands. Jake flinched for a minute, realizing he wasn’t wearing his helmet. He scanned the small room and found his helmet sitting on its side just underneath the bench he was lying on. He quickly picked up the dark grey helmet, and placed it on his head. His suit almost instantly vacuumed it and attached tightly. He slowly sat up and stretched, his muscles aching from being in such an awkward position. He realized that this was in no way acceptable behaviour for an elite squad of marines, and as a leader figure he would have to punish them in a way. He took a few steps towards a pale green locker, making care not to step on a sleeping Mitchell. The locker screeched open and revealed a few grenades and a SCRAWL, which Jake had gotten customized which a Silver handle. He pulled it out and examined it. It felt good to hold, making it easy to aim. Jake noticed a small spider crawling near the barrel of the gun, and quickly shook it off. After a moment of admiring the firearm, he clicked off the safety and aimed it upwards toward the roof. Using only one arm, he pulled the trigger and a loud bang echoed throughout the room. The sleeping squadmates all instantly jumped up in surprise, with the Sgt pulling out a pistol from the holster on his leg and waving it around. “What the hell was that for?” Private Stacey muttered at Jake, noticing the rifle in his hands. Jake sighed, “Whatever happened last night was unacceptable behaviour, and I’m gonna let you all off on a warning and not report you for now.” They sank it in, and eventually Jordan apologized “We’re sorry Captain, I promise it won’t happen again.” Jake nodded, and was about to order them to clean up the mess. However, before he could say another word; an alarm went off with a irritating beeping noise as the room filled with a bright red shade. “All units report to your respective armorys, gear up, and wait for further instructions.” The speaker buzzed, most likely Nicole making the announcement. The squad immediately turned to go get their things, but the speaker stopped them in their tracks. “Would Alpha Team please report to the command center for mission briefing.” They exchanged a few looks, and sped out the door and down the halls. They were running as fast as they could, causing them to have to push multiple scientists and soldiers out of the way. They arrived at the entrance, and the chrome finished door rapidly slid open and they walked in. The room was buzzing with movement, with dozens of Mobians typing away speedily on futuristic keyboards. Proceeding forward, they caught Sally’s eye and went up too her. “General, what’s going on?” Jake asked her Sally busily moved her hands across a holographic screen, and sent a briefing report to their HUDs. “No time for explaining, there’s a Pelican ready for you in the emergency loading bay. Head there ASAP, and follow the instructions in the briefing.” She ordered “Also, you four have been promoted to ODST’s; all your needed equipment will be on the pelican. Now move out!” Before Sally had even finished her last sentence, they had already just passed the door and were on their way to the loading bay. It took them less then 5 minutes to get there, and upon arrival they found a sole Pelican. It was a olive green troop carrier, looking like an enormous tour bus with wings. They crawled inside, with Private Stacey jumping into the cockpit of the bird. They buckled themselves in, and the bird slowly rose up and flew out a large opening. Coming out of it, Jake saw that they had just flew straight out of the side of a hill. The civilians below watching in awe as the large carrier took flight. Private Stacey looked back at them. “You’re gonna wanna see this shit.” Jake leaned forward to get a view of the front windshield, and saw an enormous Covenant ship floating above the city. |

Sandopolis Act 2

![]() Preview for chapter 7, it should be up soon. Chapter 7 Jake slowly took a few steps back; the ship was absolutely enormous. The sheer size of it was so unimaginable that Jake had trouble estimating its size. He knew it had to be at least a couple miles long, but he couldn't tell. He then remembered that the briefing report was still in a small folder in the upper left corner of his visor; he angled his index finger slightly and then made a fist; causing the file to open up and expand all the way across the cyan interior of his visor. He scanned it over and promptly closed it; not believing what he just read. Accordion to the document, over night the covenant had sent hundreds of ships to major cities all around the world. In response, the United Nations decided to order an evacuation of all the endangered cities. As the civilians would continue to exit the city, the military would begin to move in. Jake stepped forward into the cockpit and peered out the window to the city below them. He could see multiple traffic jams caused by cars trying to leave, and noticed that the majority of the downtown area was blocked off by local police vehicles; it was obvious that Calgary wasn't very high on the army's priority list. He turned to his squad who were getting into their jet Black ODST suits, and watched them. He could tell they were nervous, but he also knew that they were extremely eager to shoot down some Covenant. About a minute later, they were all geared up. "You guys read the report?" Jake asked "Yeah, you think the Army has any soldiers to spare for here?" Mitchell said "Doubt it," Stacey said without moving her eyes from the giant ship "looks like the city has gotta rely on the police." "Luckily they got us." Jake replied "Now how much longer till ETA, Private?" "About 30 seconds until we reach firing range," She replied "I suggest you y'all buckle u-" At that moment the Pelican began to shake violently and began swaying to the left. "Stacey! What the hell just hit us?!" Jordan exclaimed. "Not sure!" She replied, trying to recover the tumbling aircraft "Can't see from here, but radar says its right behind us!" At that moment, Jake noticed Alberts dash towards a panel on the wall and start typing. "What are you doing corporal?" Jake shouted to him "This thing must have some sort of rear view camera, I'm trying to bring it online!" He shouted back Immediately then the main screen turned on; showing a purple, rounded troop carrier firing violet bolts of plasma from a chin mounted gun. "Phantom!" Mitchell announced "Private, open up the back and bring up the turret!" He ordered "Yes, sir!" She replied, flicking a pair of switches above her head The back of the pelican began to open up and a medium sized turret arose from the floor. "Great! Now turn the bird 5 degrees clockwise!" He continued, grabbing a hold of the gun. As the Pelican turned, the Phantom's gun began to lose some visual on Jake, and at that moment he began firing. The bullets impacted the gun as it struggled to get an aim upon him, and it fired off one more bolt before exploding into a fiery purple explosion. The bolt managed its way into the pelican and hit Jake right in the chest. He hadn't anticipated the hit, and staggered back as his armor began to glow. "You okay, Captain?" Sgt. Jordan asked "Yeah, I'm fine." He replied, watching the energy shield meter on his HUD return to 100%. The Phantom began to turn its side to the Pelican, and Jake noticed a grunt manning a turret as the side of the alien craft opened up. Before Jake could return to the turret the grunt began firing blue plasma at an alarming rate towards the opening. He knew there was no way he would be able to take out the grunt without taking major damage himself. "Hull is taking damage, Captain!" Stacey shouted "Here!" Mitchell shouted, tossing Jake's CR to him. Jake caught it and flicked the safety off, crouching down. He then moved across the wall and aimed out the Pelican while looking down the scope. He only had one chance to make the shot, and he would be doomed if he caught the gunner's attention. He held his breathe, and pulled the trigger. The bullet entered through the Grunt's right eye and exited from the back of the skull, causing bright cyan and green blood to explode out of its head. It fell backwards and took the turret with it, knocking it over and causing it to fall out of the Phantom and to the ground. Jake let out a sigh of relief, stood up and turned his face his squad. As they applauded Stacey closed the rear door of the bird and turned to face the defenceless phantom. "Permission to fire?" Stacey asked him "Permission granted" He replied, taking a seat. She aligned the sights on the blast shield and pressed a button, launching a dozen rockets towards the retreating phantom. They exploded with tearing force, causing the alien craft to lose one of it's reactors. It began to shake, and the second reactor exploded while the craft dived towards the ground. Jake walked into the cockpit and looked below, watching the fiery crater below. "What do we do now?" Jordan asked "We're heading to the phantom to investigate, take us down there" Jake ordered "Affirmative." Edited by Lord English, Aug 23 2010, 05:06 PM.

Sandopolis Act 2

Chapter 8 Naca 'Zajomee slowly arose and observed the wreckage around him. Their Phantom had been shot down moments ago by an aircraft piloted by the vermin; a true embarrassment. It had been a truly simple operation; patrol the west side of the ship and prevent any access to it. His superiors had trusted him to this mission, and he had failed them. The Sangheili Officer picked up a piece of debris from the crashed Phantom and threw it to the side; he then retrieved his Energy sword from where it had been. He activated it, and blue plasma blade extended out of it; still charged. He deactivated it and scanned the area, searching for survivors. Littered among the dead bodies of numerous Unggoy and Minor Sangheili, Naca noticed a pair of Kig-Yar trying to pull a crushed Unggoy out of the wreckage. Upon further inspection, Naca spotted his squad mate Major Yca 'Radumee checking the gauges on his Plasma Rifle. Naca quickly sprinted over to him. “Brother!” Naca exclaimed “I am overjoyed to see that you survived the crash!” “Indeed I am Naca, but most of our squad perished and the Hierarchs will not be pleased.” He replied “Unfortunate..” the Officer sighed “However we will have to maintain with what we ha-“ Naca suddenly went quiet and put a finger to his lip. He then pointed behind his Yca to a creature that was undoubtedly human. It was cowering in the corner of what seemed to have been a nest of sorts before the pelican had crashed. It was watching them, too scared to move. “Stay here, Yca.” He ordered, walking towards the vermin. The human was about 30 feet away, and as Naca approached it he began to draw his blade. Once he reached about a 10 foot distance, he extended the blade and stopped. For a good 30 seconds he stood there and watched in pity as the pathetic creature began to shake violently. He continued forward until he was literally standing over it, and looked down. He roared a battle cry and swung his sword, piercing through the vermin’s chest. It immediately stopped trembling, and began to spurt out blood at an alarming rate. Naca’s blade was covered in blood, but it quickly disintegrated. “Naca!” Yca shouted from behind him As he turned around he saw the remaining Kig-Yar get gunned down along with the Unggoy; leaving only Yca. He considered running to go save his ally, but after witnessing the Major’s armor light up and overheat; he realized it would be a better idea to run. He sprinted off to the south, and felt a piercing pain in his lower left leg right before collapsing. He examined the wound, and noticed that the armor had actually deflected the bullet. He hoped back up onto his feet and ran off again, hoping to avoid being shot again as that bullet had overheated his shields. “The Hierarchs shall punish me greatly for this,” He thought to himself “but at least I have escaped to live another day.” |

(Short chapter is short, I promise they'll start getting longer) Chapter 9 As the Pelican approached the crash site, Jake peered out the back of the bird and examined the damage they had caused. He could see multiple bodies littering the ground, but also noticed that some of them were still moving. “Stacey, bring us down faster.” He ordered “Everyone else, come over by me and start laying down fire. “Yes, sir!” They all replied, grabbing their weapons and moving next to Jake. When there was only about 60 feet between them and the ground, Jake started taking shots; the rest of the squad following soon after. He managed to headshot to Jackals, and aimed for a Grunt before Jordan shot it first. 30 feet now and there was only two elites remaining. “Jordan and Mitchell, you guys take the one on the left. Alberts, you take the one that’s fleeing.” Jake commanded They followed their orders and soon enough the first elite was down. The second one however, had only been hurt by the sniper shot and had managed to get away. “You got visual?” Jake asked him “Negative” He replied. Jake sighed and lost his balance slightly as the Pelican halted, hovering 3 feet above the ground. “Don’t bother putting her down Stacey; I’ll be back in 2.” Jake said She nodded, and Jake jumped out of the Pelican. He examined the area around him, and checked out some of the debris from the phantom. He picked up a piece that wasn’t on fire and inspected it. He tried to tell what it was made of, but he couldn’t quite make it out. He grabbed another few pieces and headed back to the bird. “This should help the guys with research…” He thought to himself As he entered the transport everyone looked at him with interest as he put away the pieces of debris. “What now, Captain?” Jordan asked “We follow our orders.” Jake replied “Which are…?” Stacey asked, bringing the pelican back into the air. “Whatever the army was supposed to do,” He replied “and since the covenant seem to scared to fight, we just might be able to go in deeper.” “Like, into downtown?” Mitchell asked “Exactly, that’s where we’ll find any civilians that might need rescuing.” Jake explained “Suicide,” Alberts mumbled “no way would it be safe to go in there alone.” “That’s why we’re not.” Jake smiled “I’m sure by now Nicole would’ve done something to increase the number of recruits.” |

Sandopolis Act 2

(I know this one ain't that long, but I tried to stretch out the scene as much as I could) Chapter 10 “You've got to be kidding,” Sonic exclaimed “only 50 people signed up?!” He placed his face into his hands and sighed. He was in an office with Sally and Nicole, discussing the recruitment of any soldiers who remembered the Daedra invasion. “Now Sonic,” Nicole replied in a soft voice “we’re lucky that anyone managed to remember those events.” “Nicole’s right Sonic, we should be thankful for what we have… even if it is small.” Sally agreed Sonic suddenly stood up from his chair and started pacing back and forth; a habit he’s always had when under stress. “I know,” He sighed “but that only brings us up to 250 soldiers against the Covenant’s, what? 2 million?” He increased his pace “There’s no way we can win this…” The room went silent; Sonic had given a valid point, and the two didn’t know how to respond to it. “Project Exodus…” Sally mumbled to herself. Both Nicole and Sonic turned to her in surprise. “Come on, Sal!” He exclaimed “You’re not really considering that, are you?” Sonic didn’t think Sally would even consider project Exodus. It had been conceived a few months ago, but didn’t get too far. The project that in case they were not able to accumulate enough troops, they would attempt to ally with the governments of earth. It had been dismissed though, considering how unlikely it would be that they would be able to make contact without starting another war. “It could work!” She retorted “Besides, it’s not like we have any better ideas.” “I’m going to have to go with Sally on this one,” Nicole said “it’s the best chance we’ll have to win this.” Sonic stopped and leaned against the wall, “Fine then, when are you going to message the UN?” “I’m not,” She smiled “You two are.” “Huh?” The both asked with curious looks on their faces. “I’m pretty sure they would much rather negotiate with living beings rather then a computer, so have fun you two!” She winked as her hologram faded. Sonic sighed and took a seat in the chair next to Sally, and shuffled it as close as possible to her. She leaned her head on to his shoulder and sighed, “What are we going to tell them?” Sonic put his arm around her, “I don’t know, I guess just make some big speech and show off some of our tech; gotta make them believe that we can be an actual asset to them.” “Yeah, maybe send the other countries equipment in exchange for troops?” She suggested “Sounds great,” He said “you think we’re ready?” “Not at all,” She laughed, sitting up “but we’re in a rush so we might as well do it now.” “Alright then!” Sonic exclaimed “Nicole, when’s the next United Nations meeting?” “They’re having one right now,” she informed as her hologram appeared in front of them. “Great, establish us a direct feed.” He smiled, and just a few seconds later the screen in front of them filled with the image of dozens of political leaders. “Hello leaders of the world. I am Sally Acorn, leader of the New Mobius Army.” She greeted The conference had gone better than expected. While the leaders were originally shocked, it wasn’t too bad considering they had already been invaded by aliens. After some clarification on their peaceful intentions, Sally and Sonic were able to start negotiating trade plans. After numerous hours, they settled on an agreement that 100,000 troops would be sent. However, if the countries did not receive their promised equipment within 72 hours the troops would be recalled. Not only did they earn troops out of the meeting, but also some helpful advice. One of the leaders had suggested a civilian training program, which would not only help the citizens’ survival but also increase the NMA’s population. “Good meeting, don’t you think?” Sonic chuckled “Are you kidding?! This is great!” Sally exclaimed “100,000 troops in bound, plus all the ones we’ll get from civilian training.” She smiled and hugged them, then went over to her desk and began franticly typing. “What is it you called me for, Sally?” Tails said as he walked into the office “I need you to tell Nicole to double production of equipment and vehicles!” She told him “Okay, but why?” He asked her “I’ll tell you later, just hurry up!” She ordered, pointing to the door. Tails exited the room and Sally sighed, “I wonder how Jake’s doing?” “I’m sure he’s doing fine…” Sonic assured her. |
