- Speed Skating (Wii): Find your rhythm and be the best! Skate around an icy track against an opponent. The key to win will be to maintain an even pace as you wave your arm and use the Wii Remote, moving similar to real speed skater. Be sure to sprint on the final straight-away towards the finish!
- Snowboard Half-Pipe (Wii): Ready to defy gravity? Get ready for some airtime on a snowboard in a half-pipe ramp and reach incredible heights with your Wii Remote/Nunchuk or Wii Balance Board! While in the air, perform a wide range of tricks to get the most points.
- Ice Hockey (Wii/DS): Pass, shoot, and score your way to victory! With your Wii Remote/Nunchuk in hand, help your team get the puck past the other team's goaltender and into the net, similar to soccer. By passing consecutively to teammates, charge-up the power in your puck for a better shot!
- Alpine Skiing (Wii/DS): Reach high speeds as you travel down a vertical drop down a snow-covered mountain and through a series of gates. Stay closer to the flags using the Wii Remote/Nunchuk or Wii Balance Board and you might accelerate faster and get a faster time! Activate your boost at the right time and speed past your opponents!
- Bobsleigh (Wii/DS): Jump into your bobsleigh at the precise time and shoot down an ice covered track! Whether in a single or multi-player mode, it is an incredibly fast descent. Use your Wii Remote or Wii Balance Board to steer down the sharp turns.
- Snowboard Cross (Wii/DS): Race against three others down slopes of rolling terrain and ramps! Use the button controls and D-pad to maneuver well. You'll have to drift through turns, ride in the slipstream of your opponents and get boosts in the jumps to see who's the fastest!
- Figure Skating Singles (Wii/DS): Prepare to step, jump, spin and perform combinations set to beautiful music! Agility, balance, and skill are all required as you gracefully dance with skates on ice. With Wii Remote in hand, scores are based on your overall technique and presentation.
- Skeleton (DS): Dive head first lying face-down on a sled into a tube of ice and reach incredible speeds! Use your stylus to steer smoothly through each turn and use your boost at the right time in straight-aways to keep your speed high.

With Mario World elements including Item Boxes and power-ups, this event truly heats up the competition!
- Dream Alpine (Wii): With giant loop-de-loops, ramp jumps, and giant rolling hears, ski against three other competitors through a fun-filled fantastical stage reminiscent of the Sonic world. - Extreme Snowboarding (DS): With four players in all, race down slopes of rolling terrain and increase your boost meter by performing tricks on the jumps! As you come across power-ups and obstacles from both the Mario and Sonic universes, use the button controls and D-pad to continue the fun and win the race!

Original Post
Spoiler: click to toggle This GoNintendo blog entry was posted yesterday which shows the above magazine scan of a silhouetted Mario and Sonic grasping hands. The text, translated by TSSZ, reads " Who are these two and why do they come to see each other? Find out all the details on the mystery game in the next magazine. But before that, here are some clues: Games, Olympics, Cold, Its winter…". This is one of the rare GoNintendo blogs I've personally seen not full of a bunch of unsupported speculation (Remember Sega vs. Capcom?) not only because of the scan, but because IGN have also gotten ahold of the rumor and said that it's basically in the works after confirming it "independently". After the ridiculous success of the first, it's not hard to imagine that this is definitely the real deal. As such, this soon-to-be official topic will remain open for the inevitable. If the inevitable somehow turns out to be false, to the Rumors topic you shall go!
