A female's midtone voice filled the room. A guard, stationed in the back corner, but making it known that he would interfere if necessary, waited. "You always have a snide comment, don't you Miss Leo?" Another voice spoke, much deeper than the first, and obviously male. The brown hedgepine smiled. "Gotta keep my wits sharp, and you know it. So what's the job this time? A new handbag for your girlfriend? A little arson this time? Tell me, you know I'll deliver..." The person chuckled. "A little more... Dangerous this time. I enjoy your work, Miss Leo. You really have an aspiring career ahead of you. I figure I can trust you as much as anyone right now." The hedgepine tossed a few strands of white-silver hair out of her eyeline. "What is it?" He tossed a picture, which was quickly intercepted by a gold projectile and landed in her hand. "... You're serious? A hit?" "What, are you not up to the task?" He asked, and she could imagine a small smile on his face. She was silent for a moment. "No. I'm game."

She groaned. She hated people watching her movements. "Necessary, unfortunately." Her employer paused. "Or else how could you work with the others in your team?" Leo stopped, shocked. "I work alone. You know that. When were you going to tell me you were sending grunts to make sure I did the job?" Her employer stiffened, and when he next spoke, he was very cautious. "They're not making sure you perform... They're just there in case anything goes wrong. Your target isn't exactly defenseless..." Leo simply stared, extremely pissed off. If she hadn't been getting paid high double zeroes... Her employer seemed to notice her continuous distaste, because he added "There's only two of them, and they're only going to observe. If it had been anyone else, they would have been much more restrictive. I do trust you, just not as fully as one of my own employees." Leo nodded bitterly. At least he's not making me wear a wire... "You're ready then? Good. My best wishes are with you." About an hour later, Leo sat in a posh club where her target was said to frequent. But so far, no luck at spotting him. The target today; a snow leopard named Snowy. Leo didn't know why exactly her employer wanted the snow leopard gone, and hadn't asked. Such questions were on a need to know basis. Besides, it wasn't really her problem, at least not yet.

Leo tried not to let her face betray any emotion, but if she hadn't had her gloves on at that moment, anyone would have been able to see her palms sweating. "No, it's fine, I'm not waiting for anyone tonight." She said. This really wasn't her thing. She much preferred plain shoplifiting... Much less east to get caught, and no one that opposed you was ever very smart... She had the sinking feeling that this guy knew exactly why she was there. And her feelings weren't generally wrong. And she knew it was too late. Leo had only ever felt something similar to Snowy's song when someone had shot her in the face with a reflector. She had felt then, exactly how her power incapacitated others. But there was no dread this time. She was willing being lulled... The first grunt went down in a flash. The second one was quickly tied up before a golden disc slashed his head in half. But Leo had made a mistake. She hadn't counted how many had been following her. She heard a shot from the balcony. No... She thought.

She sighed and pushed a strand of hair out of her face, while wondering if she had made the right decision.

It was obvious they weren't being followed, at least not yet, but she wasn't convinced that the Krauts would give up on trying to kill the snow leopard just because she had betrayed.
