Akashi opened his eyes and rolled on to his stomach, he got up on his knees and his vision was hazy. The tiger wiped his eyes and slowly rose to his feet as he was a little dizzy. The tiger looked around at the battle field, he walked to the edge and saw the void. "I wasn't planning on going anywhere." The tiger turned around walked away from the edge, he saw the other opponents in their rounds and his opponent across from him part of the final four in the tornament.

Akashi heard that the battle field was known as "Tightrope terror zone." The tiger looked around and saw rope and wire, it looked like it could barely hold the battlefield. The tiger couldn't use his katana because the blade is too long and he might accidentally cut the rope. The tiger might be able to use his dagger and his two smoke bombs he had left, but the only option might be to fight unarmed in this situation.

Akashi thought about his girlfriend Melissa, if he loses he will be taking his girlfriend with him. The tiger couldn't lose, but he wondered why would she have to go if he loses.

'Was I asleep? ...Had I slept?'

It wasn't the first time those questions graced his waking mind. These transitions were a great annoyance, because it meant that for however long he was unconscious, their malevolent host had the opportunity to have his way with them. He didn't particularly relish that thought, and thought sympathetically about Miss Blaire.

Auriel clambered to his feet and took a look around himself. The structure he stood upon felt about as flimsy as it looked. Flexing his knees, he found that it gave in to his weight before it bounced him up. Not a good sign, that. Sword work was extremely limited here.

Across the arena, his opponent stood a short distance away. A tiger, from the looks of him, with a decent amount of.... accoutrement on his arms and legs. He had a good stance to him, and Auriel could see the tiger's sword handle protruding from behind his shoulder. It was without pommel and wrapped in some manner of cloth. Auriel sneered in spite of himself. 'What is it with this generation? I've seen more katanas in this time period than I did in my own time. It's as though someone decreed that katanas are just better! Uncultured morons...'

Then he caught the tiger's attention, and Auriel glanced off to the side, where the four pillars Sadistic mentioned stood. Suspended within was the ghastly image of his friend and compatriot, Samuel Bellouisson. That brought a smile to Auriel's lips. Sadistic had actually brought his Colour Sergeant here! Good! One more sword pointed at the enemy was well and good. All that he needed now was the opportunity to set him loose. Auriel indulged in a momentary guffaw he didn't feel fit to restrain.

Undoing the visor clasp on his helmet with his right hand, Auriel called out to his opponent. "Oi! What be yer choice o' weaponry? Weapon or fist?"

Akashi looked on at his opponent who was awake, he heard that echidna called out to him asking what will he be using. The tiger looked around at the area and then looked to the echidna. “Let’s fight hand to hand.” There was more on the line other than a defeat, if the tiger lost it will not be just him going down. The tiger wasn’t happy about what Sadistic said if either of them lose, but someone had to win. The tiger’s opponent will be in the same situation if he loses, so the tiger decided not to use weapons, but he will if the echidna did.

Akashi raised both of his hands up to his chest and clinched his fists. “Let’s fight!” The tiger began to walk quickly up to his opponent, and swung his right fist towards the echidna’s stomach.

Akashi

"Let's fight hand to hand," he said.

Auriel smiled. It had been a while since he'd been able to spar with someone on this level. In this situation, he thought it best to leave his visor up. It was all well and good to be fully armored in any other fight, but he needed to be able to see. Fighting with weapons was pretty straightforward, and more deadly. Auriel took a few steps forward, way from the edge.

"Seol ar aghaidh le Bua!" Forward to Victory!

Akashi assumed an upright boxer's stance.
Akashi

"Let's fight!"

He came in quickly, and Auriel assumed a crouching boxer's stance, the metal spikes on his gauntlet sheathed knuckles gleaming in the dull light. Taking note of Akashi's position, he began to shift ever so slightly to the side.

Akashi's opening move was rather simple, a low right hook directed at Auriel's stomach. He could have stood there and let the impact run its course; the echidna's waist was girded with a metal chassis which extended almost halfway up his midsection, and over that, a broad chest plate protected his entire torso. He could have, but he had a tournament to win and an adversary to destroy, and with Samuel here, he had the beginnings of an army.

Akashi's gloved hands struck steel plate with a dull thud, and Auriel let the impact spin him in a counterclockwise motion, dulling the force of the impact. As he spun, he hopped forward, letting the momentum add even more force. It was extreme close quarters, too close for fist work, so Auriel brought his elbow to bear. In the same instant of the first strike, an armor plated elbow screamed toward Akashi's face...

Akashi punch seemed to do more for his opponent as it did for him, the puma made the echidna spin round and he didn't know if he did that or his opponent did because the punch didn't seem to hurt him, but he hurt his hand hitting the steel. The tiger saw the echidna coming towards him as he was spinning, he saw his opponent's armoured elbow coming towards his face.

Akashi quickly moved back two steps and jumped up, he spun his body round and brought his left knees up to his stomach and stretched out his right leg as he was spinning with his right heel aiming for the echidnas arm.

((lol what? I moved in the same instant you struck. I didn't have to come toward you, cause you were already there!))

Auriel's elbow carved through the air, unexpectedly. Akashi must have anticipated that, though such lightning calculation was rare and nigh impossible for the average fighter. Off balance from missing the strike, Auriel tucked forward into a roll, the woven arena heaving under him as he did so. Akashi took two steps back, and the two combatants missed each other cleanly.

As his feet and buttocks touched the ground at the end of the roll, Auriel barely had enough time to look up at his opponent before he jumped abruptly into the air. He twirled as he did so, legs tucked to his chest, and Auriel suddenly reconsidered getting to his feet. Forcing his upper torso back onto the surface of the arena, Auriel tucked his own legs into his chest, using the momentum of the motion to rock back onto his shoulders. The arena heaved once again under him.

As Akashi completed his turn, he lashed out with a kick. In retrospect, Auriel was not impressed. A spinning kick was constantly losing momentum because of the lack of foundation on the ground. In addition, such short aerial maneuvers tended to be vulnerable to 'counter-gyro' effects.

As Akashi's leg extended, Auriel employed one such maneuver. In the same moment, Auriel lashed out from his position, taking advantage of the recoil from the arena to launch himself off the ground, pushing upward with his feet in an improvised scissor kick aimed at Akashi's genitals. If it hit, great. If not, the attack ought to hit his curled leg at an angle, causing him to spin downward while spinning vertically. Oh, the vertigo............

As Akashi swung his leg round to do a spin kick, he saw that Auriel jumped up with his feet upward to do a scissor kick. The tiger had to think of a way to escape or counter. The tiger quickly moved the lower part of his right leg down and bent his knee so his foot and ankle are under his thigh, he kicked out his left leg so he could kick with his other foot, but he lost his balance and fell landing on his back.

Akashi rolled on to his stomach and got up onto his knees, he put his hands on the ground and jumped up off the ground and stood on his hands. The tiger looked on at his opponent as he was upside down, he moved round so his back was facing Auriel and bent both of his knees, he went down and his feet hit the ground and he stood up.

Akashi looked on at his opponent and knew this wasn't going to be an easy round with more to lose than them losing the round. The tiger turned away from his opponent and ran back to the edge of the ground what was behind him, at the edge he turned around to face the echidna and his back began to hurt after that fall since the counter wasn't quick enough. The tiger roared and wouldn't let his hurt back bother him too much.

((Your little evasion maneuver doesn't make sense to me. You lost balance in the air? My interpretation is that Akashi and Auriel's legs connected, which made you lose balance. BTW Judges, I assume that because of the woven nature of the arena, it has some trampoline properties, so I'm treating it as such.))

Following a bizarre maneuver, Akashi made it safely away out of Auriel's grasp. Not content to give his opponent the high ground, Auriel bounced off the woven arena, using the momentum to flip forward to his feet. Instinctively, he instantly flowed into a boxer's stance, but noticed that he wasn't under immediate attack. Instead, his opponent had..... run away to the far end of the arena, and now stood a span away, roaring like a cornered beast.

Auriel cocked his head and grunted incredulously. 'Did he really just do that?'

"Look 'ere, lad. Yer nae makin' this any easier. Oi gather ye've got someone ye care about o'er yon pillar. Unless he or she can fight, yer alone. Oi'm not alone, and Oi already got people ta avenge. It's either you or me, and between us, Oi've got th' best chance of victory 'gainst our jailers. Besides, ye ain't th' best fighter Oi ever met. Oi fought bollix-fed gobdaws with more sense than to twirl in th' air like a ballet dancer during a fight, but yer more daft than most! Honestly, Oi cannae reason how she e'er thought a bumpkin like you was attractive."

Akashi looked on at Auriel and wasn’t happy at what he just said, it made him a little angry. The tiger began to run up towards his opponent as fast as he could. "You're going down!" He shouted. The Tiger rolled forward on to his head and leaped up off his hands with the help of the ground sending both feet towards the echidna’s stomach.

((That's... quite a feat to perform with a hurt back.))

The insults had the desired effect. Akashi snarled, nostrils flared, and he charged headlong at Auriel. This was entirely too predictable. All Auriel had to do would be to move to the side, avoiding the charge completely. There could be other things he could do to to speed towards the conclusion of the match, but then, he wasn't quite done playing with his opponent yet.
Akashi

"You're going down!"
Akashi flipped forward onto his hands, converting a front flip into a two-legged kick. This was clever, but was too time consuming. Auriel sidestepped to the left, crouching and forcing the arena to bend underneath him. As Akashi sailed past, he placed his gauntlet covered hands under Akashi's back and on his legs. The arena began to bounce back up, and Auriel rode the recoil as he forced his arms to follow a clockwise motion.

The resulting spin and upward movement caused Akashi to spiral in the air, head over heels. If he was smart, he would tuck into a roll to try and prevent further injury. If not, well....

Auriel laughed as Akashi reached the outcome of the flip. "Come now, boy! 'Tis nae dancing yer supposed ta be doin'! Let's get ta fightin'! Stop yer ballet an' fight like a real man!"

Akashi opponent moved out of the way of his oncoming kick with both feet after leaped up of his hands. The tiger noticed that Auriel bounced up off the arena floor with his hand under his back, the echidna made him spin in the air. As the tiger was spinning he moved his body up and swung both of his leg's back and landed on the ground on his hands and knees a few feet away from his opponent.

The tiger rose to his feet and turned around to face his opponent, he didn't think about the insults what the echidna said and fight him. The tiger moved towards Auriel and spun his body counter clockwise and raised his left knee, he then left on the ground and got down, put his left hand on the ground spun his right leg on the ground towards his opponent's ankles.

The tiger wasn't snarling anymore at his insults. Either he had finally tuned him out or was just ignoring him. 'Twas all well and good, in the long run. Had he succumbed to his anger, Akashi would have just been another novice fighter who'd learned a few flashy moves. The fact that he now seemed to be concentrating on the actual task at hand (like a real man) spoke much about his self-control. If he hadn't been involved in the tourney, Akashi would have had great potential, but within the confines of their mutual prison, he was just another good soul to avenge.

'So be it. I've got the best chance of winning, so I must prove it here and now.' Auriel steadied his breathing, willing his consciousness to lengthen and expand. With an exhale, he crouched even further, sinking into that training-honed, heightened sense of awareness known as the Fighter's High. All non-essential emotion and thought drained away, leaving him calm. Cool. Clear.

Akashi moved in yet again, spinning his body counter clockwise. Raising his left leg, he made to kick out at Auriel again, however as he did so, something didn't feel quite right. The kick seemed pulled, like there wasn't enough will behind the motion to complete the kick. It was almost certainly a feint, but in spite of himself, Auriel flinched.

And then, in a complete reversal, Akashi dove for the floor of the arena. It was a complete waste of time. Any feint followed by an attack must be done with speed, and speed is best attained when the attack is initiated with as little time as possible. It's possible that Akashi had never fought a proper soldier before, or more simply, had never sought formal education.

Akashi swept out with his right leg, ostensibly to knock Auriel off his feet. While too fast to completely dodge, it wasn't so fast that he couldn't try to recover from it, or attempt to shift the odds in his favor. Auriel shifted his weight to his right foot, and let his left leg be swept out from under him. As he fell, he let his right leg collapse onto Akashi's leg, trapping it under him. As the arena heaved under them again, Auriel lunged/fell onto Akashi's back, wrapping his arms around Akashi's waist.

'Let's see how well he fights...'

Akashi managed to sweep his opponent, but the echidna fell forward on to him trapping his leg with his right leg and, then his opponent wrapped his arms round his waist. The tiger roared out in pain as his opponent fell on his leg, he moved his other leg and began to kick the back of the echidna's knees with his heel. "Get off me!"

Akashi sat up put both of his hands on his opponent's shoulders and tried to push him away, he used the arena floor to bounce and managed to moved his leg what was trapped, he both of his legs and wrapped them around his opponent's stomach. The tiger moved his right hand away and he clinched his fingers to make a fist, he sent his fist forwards towards the left side of the echidna's face.

Akashi squalled loudly as several dozen pounds of armored echidna came down on his leg, and became wrapped around his waist. He began to do what any inexperienced ground fighter would, and began struggling frantically to get free. The first attempt involved kicking at Auriel with his free leg. Being accustomed to taking the initiative, Auriel took the opportunity to move his legs out of the way, straddling Akashi's thighs.
Akashi

"Get off me!"
Auriel could hear the anger in Akashi's voice, but he could also hear a twinge of fear in the background, caught in his throat. This was one level of fighting Akashi was not well versed in.

Akashi tried to use both hands to push Auriel off him, but as soon as he stopped pushing, Auriel moved with Akashi's hands, inching further up Akashi's body and increasing his dominant position. Akashi did his best to bounce off the ground in an effort to break free; as the tiger's legs curled up to help bounce himself off the arena, Auriel inched upward even further, straddling his unfortunate opponent across his stomach. Finally, Akashi tried to punch Auriel in the face. As Akashi wound up, Auriel tucked his face into the tiger's chest, and let the punch land on the back of his helmet, his bound dreadlocks flailing with the impact.

Breathing audibly from the effort to pin Akashi and increase his dominant position, Auriel took that moment to rise to a sitting position, pressing all of his weight, bar his legs, onto Akashi's abdomen. He then began to launch heavy, metal encased jabs at Akashi's face, taking great care to avoid striking him in the face with the steel covered spikes on his knuckles... though it wouldn't seem as such to Akashi.

Not that he expected such strikes to land on Akashi's face, either. If he was smart, he should be guarding his face with his arms.

"What tricks do ye got now, boy?!"
