How about we leave our lives be until after we get to the docks? "Sounds like a plan," Blaire replied. For the longest time, they walked in silence. After that little ordeal, the husky felt it was best not to say anything for a while, and Drake wasn't much of a talker. However, one thing did cause words to come dripping out of the tiger's mouth. "We're here." |

Austin shrugged. "I'm a little late to the party, so, why are we here?" Taylor rolled his eyes. "We're getting a submarine. So, Drake, you're gonna talk some dock hands into helping us get underway, right? Or is there red tape you gotta talk us around?" |

So, Drake, you're gonna talk some dock hands into helping us get underway, right? Or is there red tape you gotta talk us around? "No red tape at all. My dad happens to be good friends with some of the workers. See, he was a member of the Mobian Navy before he married my mother. But after moving to Oakland, he became a carpenter. Helping to build a wharf was one of his jobs." Edited by HollyYoshi, Mar 14 2010, 04:26 PM.

"Well, still. I'd like to keep the supernatural angle to as few individuals as conveniently possible," Taylor said. "I'd also rather not be seen here, for habitual reasons. Once they start getting the sub unmoored, I should slip into the sub with a minimum of incident." Austin's head found itself irresistibly attracted to his gloved palm. "Seriously. You make these kinds of things way more complicated than they gotta be." |

"Very well then," Blaire said, one eyebrow raised. "Well, Drake'll make sure everything's ready for us," she told them, watching the tiger walk off. |

"This is so unlike Taylor," Austin said to Blaire. "He's usually the 'leap before you look' type. Something must have him worried if he's being cautious..." With that, Austin went around the corner to watch Drake and see if he needed a hand. "Look. Blaire. I need a few moments to prepare for whatever we might find down there. If I don't ready up now, I'll bog everyone down if we find something... nasty later. Being an alleged undersea ruin and all," Taylor explained. "It's not 'pure' pyrogenesis, what I can do." He sighed. "Make sure Austin won't get himself in trouble with the dockhands, and it'll all be fine. I probably won't be finished until we're ready to make way as it is." |

Being an alleged undersea ruin and all. "Don't worry Taylor, I understand," Blaire replied with a nod of her head. "Put simply, I prefer mountain scenery over coastline for meditating. Gets me into the right state of mind quicker," Taylor said. It was the best way he could put it without going into an incomprehensible explanation of the metaphysics behind interdimensional magery. "So I'd like a bit of quiet time to concentrate, thank you," he finished as he sat down, leaning his back on some stray crates on the dock. Austin would be leaning on the opposite side of those same crates, watching Drake. He didn't really understand the consequences his presence could have on the Oaklanders. All he really knew and cared about was getting this done and over with so he could pay off a debt he owed. |

So I'd like a bit of quiet time to concentrate, thank you. "Very well then," Blaire told him. "I'll leave you now. Just let us know when you're ready, alright?" she asked, turning around and walking away shortly after. She headed to where Drake was. She wasn't really concerned about whether or not they'd get the sub. Drake could handle it. |

And, wouldn't you know it, Austin had ended up a point of contention. "No, I'm not some kinda spy, thanks for nothin'! If I worked for the guy who controlled most of the world, you'd think I'd have a better outfit than this hobo look, ya know?" And after a quick whiff of himself, he added, "And have time for cleaning up. Damn, I reek." With a shake of his head, he finished, "If you'll just let us in, help us get underway, you can go back to whatever you were up to and forget you ever saw me or the other stranger." |

Hearing what was going on between Austin and the dock workers, Drake tried to intervene. "Excuse me," the tiger began, hoping to grab thier attention. "But you can let him and his friend borrow a submarine. They mean no harm." |

Sandopolis Act 2
|
The harrowed dock worker Austin was 'arguing' with bowed his head and raised his shoulders in a 'what the hell is this' kind of shrug. "I only said it was weird, not that I wouldn't let him... He's the one who took offense here, not me," the dockhand said. Austin deflated spectacularly. "Oh... 'kay. Sorry 'bout that, bub. No hard feelings, then?" The dockhand just rolled his eyes. "Do I even want to know why he wants a submarine?" he asked Blaire, ignoring Austin. |

Do I even want to know why he wants a submarine? "He needs it to help save his home," the Siberian Husky told him. Blaire just hoped that the dock worker wouldn't ask just what was going on there-how on Mobius would she explain that? |

"Ah. So I don't," the dockworker said glibly. "Maybe I'll just stay out of the way then." He turned towards Austin. "But I'm watching you. You look like a troublemaker, and I don't want trouble!" he finished, jabbing a finger between the blond man's eyes. Austin just blew between his upper teeth and lower lip. |

Blaire just shook her head at the dockworker's words. "Honestly. Two humans cause trouble for us, and you don't trust the species in general? Yeah, you're lucky the human population is so low," the canine said, glancing at the dock worker. |
